"We met friends for dinner and wanted a place where we could catch up over a leisurely good meal and hear ourselves talk. Fontana proved to be ideal in this regard. It is also a BYOB which we always like. Initially the waiter tried to rush us but when he he saw we were going to be a while he wisely backed off. Service was appropriately attentive. Each couple split nice size salad for appetizer. Both were very good. Bronzino special of the night was excellent. Pasta special with seafood was good. If you are looking for a solid, good italian restaurant in center city with nice ambiance and good service that is a BYOB to boot, Fontana is a good choice"

"This was a dinner for my family and some members of my former student's family - a group of 8. A comfortable table was reserved for us at the window on the Spruce St. side. Service was impeccable. The food came to us as requested, piping hot and deliciously prepared. My linguini pescatore did not skimp on the delectable seafood and the pasta was truly al dente. Prices are reasonable and our wine was happily presented and served, unlike some BYOBs whose staff perform the service grudgingly. I believe everyone in the group was pleased with this choice for our wonderful get-together. I am certain to return to sample more of La Fontana della Città's delightful offerings."

"Two diners had the special pasta dish with a vodka cream sauce that was quite good but too rich for me. Another had a basic pasta with meat sauce - very, very good meat sauce. Mine was the best - a pasta dish with lots of assorted sea food in a light white wine sauce - the best dish I have had in this restaurant. I've been here before and will be there again."

"I made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday. They were for 7pm, and when we got there it seemed like reservations may not have been necessary, but by 8 there was a wait. We sat outside because it was so nice out and because of some of the comments about crowding and noise inside, so we didn't see the inside, but the outside was lovely. There are heat lamps so even if it is a bit chilly outside, those keep you warm. The service was fantastic. There were people there for everything yet no one seemed intrusive. The food was very good also. There is a wide variety on the menu as well as several specials, and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely a great place to go."

"Went here for Easter lunch and was not impressed. My mother ordered a fish special that she was told was Red Snapper and clearly was not. It was flavorless and unsatisfactory and the kicker was the $30 price tag. Chicken parm cutlet was dry as my Fra Diavolo was a sweet, saucy mess. With so many good Italian byos in this city, this is not one I will revisit."

"The waiters hover a lot since the main dining room is such a small place. You get the feeling they are standing around and talking about you in between visiting their tables. Other than that, food is amazing but don't just drop in for a quick bite, you will be charged for sharing an entree or coming in to grab a quick salad. but hey, that's how they get tips, and I respect that everyone has to make a living. Yummy pasta, definitely will go back."

"Great BYOB with totally reasonable prices! Went to dinner with 4 other people and with all of us getting pasta entrees and 3 apps for the table, dinner came down to $38 including tip. I don't think I could have fit anymore food in my stomach. I wanted to lick the plate clean, but I couldn't eat it all! The tables are right on top of each other, but it has an energetic atmosphere and you feel like you can laugh and chat without being chastised. I will definitely be going back!"

"My party of six was seated fairly close to the time of the reservation--no small matter since the restaurant was very crowded. Food and service were delightful, as well. "I am a regular to La Fontana, dining there on average once per month. Service was absolutely atrocious, perhaps a bad night but it was not only bad for them but for any restaurant I have ever dined at. It was restaurant week. The restaurant was not crowded at all but the service was incredibly bad. Waiters standing around, looking right past or over you when you asked for assistance. Couldnt get tableware for my guests and I had to get up to grab from another table, an hour between salads and entrees, manager not to be found, nobody following up to see how meal was or if anything was needed, waiters hiding in the back so not to serve. My out of town guests were shocked! Food quality was fair compared to the usual. Dont recommend!"

"La Fonatana is our neighborhood go to spot. The food is really good. The waiters and owners are super attentive. During the warmer months, La Fontana is a the place to try and catch and outdoor table."

"I had been there years ago & it was excellent.
First, had to argue for an inside table..outside tables waiters walk in to you
We were there early 5 30 & place empty.

"Came for dinner with my wife on friday night. My wife ordered gnocchi with red sauce whch was really good. I ordered the pasta special which was seafood pasta with a pink sauce that was outstanding. Place had an energetic vibe including lots of groups. Despite this the place didn't feel cramped or over-the-top loud. Good choice for an Italian byob. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend."
