"This was my fifth time dining at this restaurant and I have to say it was the worst. Our waitress was terrible it started by her never refilling our drinks, the manager did.The only time she came to our table was to take our order and to drop off our food literally. We never saw her after that. When she gave us our check after 20 minutes of trying to find her she dropped it off on the table and walked away eventhough my father had his form of payment on the table. The service was just poor overall. Also they now nickel and dime you for everything. Before they use to give you a side dish with your meal. Not anymore, all the sides are extra. The side was ok but when you are paying $35 per plate you should at least get a side with your meal"

"It's been quite awhile since I've been to Monterey Bay. It's been my "go to" place for special occasions for years, so since we were celebrating a birthday, we decided to go here. The food was delicious -- calamari as an appetizer, house salads with a fabulous dressing, and for entrees I ordered Swordfish Oscar, and my friend ordered one of the shrimp entrees. Everything was very, very good. I was surprised, however, at their drastic increase in prices since I've been there last. In addition, everything is now a la carte. Salad, vegetable, potato -- all a la carte. We enjoyed our meal immensely, just be prepared for a little sticker shock."

"After years of spending every special occasion at Monterey Bay, it breaks my heart to say that this may be my last trip. There was nothing special about the restaurant anymore. No more salad or even side with your meal. Just a sad piece if fish on a plate. The family style side was less than overwhelming, just a few fingerling potatoes. For the first time ever we all left the restaurant still hungry. I miss the old Monterey Bay. Let me know when things go back to the way they used to be, the way that made it great. Until then goodbye."

"Overall a very nice night for myself and companion. There are only a few items that prevented me from giving a perfect score. First, the food was great but the appetizer and entre portions were a little on the small side. That night we got the sampler appetizer and I ordered the ahi tuna which was cooked perfectly. Second, we received the anniversary menu which was a pleasant surprise. It would have been nice to offer for us to have the paper insert with our name on it as a 'momento' of our night. Third, a couple was there acting inappropriate within five yards from us. I'm not sure the staff observed them but that brief encounter put a slight shadow on an otherwise romantic night. Again, overall a very fine experience."

"I love this restaurant - I have never been disappointed. Their fish is to die for. I had Swordfish ala Lisa with a side of asparagus with hollandaise sauce. My husband had Mahi mahi with a macadamia crust on top and a side of potatoes. The sides are big enough for two so we shared both. Scrumptous! Just wish I could afford to go more often."

"Overall the food was excellent. I have to admit though, I was a little disappointed in the lobster tail special-I do not think it was up to par with the rest of our dinners. The lobster was lukewarm and not as sweet as I am used to. I would also have liked the drawn butter served over a candle to keep it warm. I will definitely return but will not order lobster again."

"Very good overall. A little pricey. My other favourite seafood spot is out of the fire in Donegal. Prices there less than yours and their food is truly exceptional. "Originally planned a reservation for 7, then changed it to 8, got there about 830. Athough the hostess indicated that they closed at 9 and she seemed to be inconvenienced by my request, you would have never guessed that once we arrived. The waitress was attentive,pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. It was a great environment to talk, enjoyed an nice glass of wine, the tuna was awesome (although I didn't order it), the beet salad was to die for. And just for fun...order the shrimp fried rice as a side.... I cant image what the salt content was, but truly wonderful. The only drawback to this place was its location. I am not a fan of restaurants at a mall."

"Monterey Bay WAS my favorite restaurant before my visit on March 16, 2013. Below is a detail of my experience and why I will not be going back to Monterey Bay.
To start, I checked the online menu and picked out what I wanted based on what the daily menu said the fresh fish selections were. When we arrived our server told us that he did not have what we wanted, and that the online menu is “never updated,” and probably had not been updated since last summer. So, disappointed, I ordered something else.

"I was taken by my Wife and 12 year old Twin girls to M-Bay for my birthday. I actually got to pick the restaurant since it was my birthday and M-Bay has been one of my favorites for a while. As usual the service was right on and the food was perfect. My daughters loved the Sample Appetizer which is not listed on the menu. Ask for it...it is great. I usually go with one of the specials at M-Bay and cannot go wrong. I had a grouper dinner and my daughters picked away at it. I would not bring young children to this restaurant as it is a place I like to go to and relax. Screaming children, though I love, are more suited somewhere else. All in all a great experience. I did hear that there are new owners so things may change.I hope not!"

dinner there. everything was perfect and this restaurant knows how to do it right!
The macadamia mousse was fantastic and the salad dressing was the best. Our waiter alwasys knew when we needed something, without hovering. a real professional. and we were never hurried to leave. "Now I remember why I don't go out on Valentine's Day....it took 1.5 hours for our food to arrive from the time we sat down at 6:30 p.m. And when it did arrive, one of the orders was wrong, they took both back and we waited another 20 minutes (with my husband's dinner held under a light, I supposed). Perhaps the wait staff should have written things down to get the order right because the table behind me also had a problem. On top of that, the booth tabletop that I sat at had alot of water stains on it along with a chip that revealed the press-wood beneath it. Really? I thought Monterey Bay Fish Grotto had higher class than this. We really felt that our $120 dinner for 2 was way overpriced, given our experience. We won't return."

"This was my first time there & I WILL be going back!! It was awesome! The food was to die for. Our waitress, Jodi R., provided EXCELLENT service!! It was just an awesome experience all the way around. If you want a better quality fish than Red Lobster or Fish Market, but you don't want to go into town this is the place for you!"

"The bar could have been a LOT better.. They didn't have Coke, had to drink Diete Coke (YUK) and they didn't have a vodka that we like (Stoli Vanilla). Service was a bit slow, but good."
