"We love Cafe des Architectes - we've had several wonderful dining experiences there. And the ambiance is so much nicer than most other restaurants of similar ilk could afford, so not only is the everything on the menu both wonderful culinary & artistic presentations, so also is the diningroom itself. "Overall the restaurant was OK. We did the 5-course tasting and I thought it was nice that the two of us got completely different tastings to try different things. Most of the dishes were just OK, and for a $250 meal I expected more outstanding dishes. That said, the food was beautifully prepared and the oxtail tortellini and chocolate dessert did stand out. The complementary dessert tower was a nice touch and the cocktails we had were great. The service was hit and miss. When we first sat down, no one came to us for 10 minutes and we had to flag someone. Three different people brought us our dishes; one explained them in great detail, while another just set them down and walked away."

"The restaurant is situated on the first floor of the Sofitel hotel--this is both a benefit and a drawback.
A vacuum cleaner in the entrance of the hotel ran through our entire dinner.

"I've been to this restaurant many times, bit this was my first time really sitting in the bar the whole evening. Many different servers took care of me as they passed by to the kitchen or bar from other tables to the kitchen. i enjoyed the Skeleton Horse drink which I actually stuck with the whole evening! We also ordered the cheese flight where we could choose our own cheeses. They were delicious and were served with little pairings such as champagne jelly and cookies. The cheese was also served with large slices of bread, which I thought was unusual. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tuna Tartar and these little dumpling things with goat cheese in them. We had a really wonderful evening. My cousins from the suburbs felt as if they'd been treated"

"I downgraded the service today because it wasn't the usual superb. It wa just very good. In addition to really good and interesting food, the service here has always been above expectations. Quality and appropriate. Today, I was unusually looking for the waiter. But not for a long time, just longer than I am accustomed to at this place.

"The food was great, but the options were limited. What I mean by that is there are essentially no vegetarian options, and only one option for fish. I didn't have to think much for what I wanted, since the fish was the only dish I could eat. It was well done, but a little too sweet.
I would recommend this place they do interesting things with the food. Just make sure your party likes to eat lots of meat."

"The food is artfully presented and mostly very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the salmon with citrus foam. But its effort to be unique, creative & complex, didn't succeed with the pear bavoise, which to me just was an odd melange & the bavoise wasn't very flavorful. The service was very friendly and I appreciated that it was not rushed and the waiter wasn't fawning. On the other hand, at times, no one was around to clear the plates. The atmosphere is comfortable, attractive & relaxed. There are not a lot of menu choices and it is not geared for vegetarians."

"My boyfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary here. I would have preferred a dimmer more ambient atmosphere. I found it very bright. However, the food was superb! Each bite was bursting with flavor. I did feel the portion size was a bit small. I understand that French cuisine is typically lighter in nature, but I would have appreciated a slightly larger "light" portion from the appetizer to the dessert. I also appreciated the extremely attentive wait staff. They were all very courteous and refined. Overall, we loved our experience."

"I went to CDA for a business lunch. It was perfect. The staff was all very kind and polite, the space is light and lovely. Our server, Indra (sp?) was wonderful - very warm and friendly, and patient with us as we talked a lot and were in no particular hurry to order. I chose the ahi tuna appetizer, which was phenomenal. Definitely would recommend this restaurant."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here last Saturday. Everything was presented beautifully and was also delicious. I started with the Poached Pear Fireball Salad, which had an amazing mix of flavors that went perfect together to create a flavor profile I've never tasted before. For my entree I chose the Michigan Whitefish; the fish was cooked perfectly and sat atop the most delicious mushroom risotto I've ever had. The Chocolate Noir dessert was the perfect ending with its rich choclate cream contrasting with the crunchy earthiness of hazelnuts. Tip: you can order the wine flights offered in the bar area to drink along with your dinner. I ordered the sparkling flight, and each of the half-glasses paired delightfully with the three courses"

The lady and I ordered the Restaurant Week Menu, it was absolutely delicious.
The poached pear and goat cheese salad had a great balance, but was overshadowed by the chestnut veloute with scallops, which was astounding, the creaminess balanced with the rich sauteed scallops.
The seared Michigan whitefish was a little off, not as fresh as we would have liked. It had hints of cumin. The braised beef short rib was delicious, perfect in texture and complemented by the wonderful butternut squash.
The dessert: tasty, very good, nothing too exceptional."
