"This was our third visit to Perla and there's no denying that the dining room at Perla is one of the most unique and sophisticated in all of Puerto Rico. The "clam shell" restaurant appears to float on a pool of water with stunning views of the beach and ocean. Try to make your reservation so that you arrive while it's still light out and time your dinner through sunset and into the evening so you can fully appreciate the views. ALWAYS request a table against the windows. About a third of the restaurants tables sit in a sunken part of the dining room with no view at all. Food overall was great. Only complaint was that it could have been hotter (temperature wise)."

"On outlet last night in San Juan, we enjoyed dinner at the Perla. I had the cod and my husband chose duck. Both were delicious and left us wanting to try more. The setting is beautiful although I was cold most of the dinner because I was seated near a ac vent. Get reservations early so you can get a table right next to the ocean glass."

"This venue is great for special dates and dressing up; but too expensive for anything else. I would recommend Perla to anyone able to afford a $100 plate. It is nice to be able to get dressed and not have to worry about kids or someone with flip-flops at the next table. Excellent service. Excellent ambiance. Great for foodies. I found the menu difficult to figure out without a culinary degree."

"I was afraid the restaurant might be a bit cheesy since it is shaped like a clamshell and is on the beach. But it was fantastic! The food was the best we had in Puerto Rico. I had the lobster and steak and my husband had the lobster for main courses. I had the tuna tartare for appetizer which was delicious. But the shrimp appetizer my husband had was incredible.
The service was excellent. The clam shell effect once inside the restaurant was simply magical. Very elegant and not cheesy or touristy at all!
Overall a very memorable dining experience. It was a bit pricey but no complaints on quality of good, service or ambience."

"The staff remembered my comment note on my open table reservation & brought my parents out a beautiful dessert to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. I found that very impressive. Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu items and how they are prepared. Food was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff so polite while providing exceptional service. Just an overall wonderful dining experience.

"This is one of the most beautiful restaurants and is now on my top 3. Everything is amazing - the atmosphere, food, scenery, wait staff and drinks. Sitting inside a large conch shell is spectacular. The food presentation is exquisite and delicious. You don't feel rushed. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or a nice night out."

"My wife and I visited Perla our last night in Puerto Rico to celebrate our honeymoon. We were guests at La Concha. From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we walked out, the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was beautiful but very comfortable, and the view of the Ocean was spectacular. We ordered drinks and dinner and were thoroughly impressed."

"The best part of Perla is the stunning architecture. It ends there. Maybe there was a substitute chef in the kitchen, maybe they brought someone in off of the street to prepare dinner, but, please know that the food lacked flavor to point of being so bland, it was sad. There wasn't any use of salt or pepper, let alone any of the other spices or herbs that might enhance the flavor of our meals I've read the other reviews and most rave about the food. My wife and I shared the same opinion. With so many high quality choices, pass this one up and spend you money where you can enjoy more than a room with a view. We won't be back."

"Perla was fantastic! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting San Juan.Even if you are not staying at La Concha- do NOT miss this place. We had Miguel as our waiter and he was terrific! I followed his suggestions and could not have been happier! "My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner. We're visiting from NYC and we love dining out. I was afraid at first that the "conch" shell restaurant was going to be a little kitchy, however it was the opposite. The staff was friendly and beyond knowledgable about the food. We had an amazing bottle of Prosecco paired with our dinner. At the end they brought out a special birthday dessert where they spelled out not only "Happy Birthday" but also my first name. The personal touch was very thoughtful!
The Trout Chowder is not to be missed! Thank you La Concha for a an outstanding birthday dinner and a night I will not forget!"

"The ambience is great!! The service was good but we felt rush all nigth by the waiter. We order a bottle of wine and had to keep asking him to fill the glasses again. We order a lobsters soup and it was exquisite!! But my food was extremely underseason, I order the seabass w/ risotto. "I think that this restaurant has potential, atmosphere is great, but the food was just mediocre. We were a party of three, and two people at my table had to send back their steaks. They ordered their steaks medium rare and they were delivered raw (dark purple). This was my second time here and I am not sure that I would go back, just not worth it."

"I had dinner with a special friend, and the setting was fantastic. I had booked the reservation a couple of months early, and so I had requested a table on the perimeter of the restaurant looking at the ocean and reflecting pool on which the restaurant seems to float. We had one of those perimeter tables, and I highly recommend asking for those. The food was fantastic -- great flavors, well-prepared, much attention to detail. The service was impeccable -- not fussy, but just enough attention. The servings, especially of the entrees, were ample. The appetizers and desserts were not very large, but the meal as a whole was complete and very satisfying. It was expensive, but worth it."

"Beautiful ambience, like sitting in an open clam shell. The lighting was beautiful and created shadows against the wall and ceiling. It was a romantic spot with beautiful views of the ocean. The food was delicious and the wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive. I loved their Chardonnay by the glass. It was better than the Chardonnay at the Ritz. I would definitely recommend this restaurant while in San Juan."

"The restaurant decor is stunning. Service was professional, but a bit uneven. The salads (a caesar and a beet with goat cheese) were fresh, crisp and delightful. My sea bass entree was most delicious accompanied by truffled risotto which was outstanding."

"My husband and I celebrated my birthday with dinner at Perla. The staff was attentive and made us feel special. An older couple next to us was celebrating their anniversary, and the woman asked the server if she had glasses she could use to read the menu because she left her glasses upstairs. The server came back a few minutes later with reading glasses she had borrowed from someone else on the staff, and the lady said they were perfect. If that's not supreme customer service, I don't know what is. The sea bass and stuffed chicken made us pause our conversation and just enjoy the flavors on our tongues. The orange sorbet served with the orange creme brulee was light and heavenly.

"Food and wine so overpriced. $13.00 for a 5oz glass of ordinary Chardonnay? $16.00 for 3 very small shrimp in a curry sce w a very small risotto cake, just absurd. Service was not good, waited 30 min for them to put a little tiny cotton tasting roll on your b& b plate? Marriott should take along hard look at this place!
