"I was so excited to have a real spaghetti bolognese... it was made with corn pasta and it was delicious - even my gluten-eating colleague tried it and was very impressed with the taste.

"Service was outstanding, which made our meal a memorable one as the food was just good but not outstanding. The ambience could use a little something as it being an older building is quite bare and cold. We had a very nice dinner though and would be back next time we have an event to attend on the Stampede grounds."

"The Bison bolognese was excellent! We highly recommend the Arugala salad and the Tomato boccocini salad.
In my opinion, the Pesce Mista was saltier this time... Perhaps the capers are salty enough and additional salt wasn't needed. Also... serving this dish without the fish head attached is a suggestion... maybe I will ask for its removal next time. :)

"I took my husband to this restaurant for his 50th birthday—it is a restaurant that I pass daily on my way home from work so it is easily accessibly from Inglewood which makes it all the more convenient. We had the full meal deal with delicious appetizers, mouth-watering dinners and sublime desserts. They met us at the table with complimentary champagne which was such a lovely treat. Our waitress was wonderful at making suggestions. I had my main course narrowed to three choices and she told me what I would like about each one—going as far as to say one dish is quite sweet and we might be disappointed (we both had that dish on our might have list and we both switched). Our dinners exceeded our expectations and left us fully satisfied."

"The bruschetta was delicious! a little different than you get elsewhere.
My husband had the osso buco and enjoyed it a lot. He said the boursin mashed potatoes went perfectly with the delicious sauce. I had the cannelloni and also enjoyed it, but it was a lot of food after the bruschetta and the wine."

"Fantastic Calgary find!! Casually elegant without the pretense. Food was outstanding, service was attentive and anticipatory without being "in your face". We came out from Vancouver to take University age children out for post exam celebration dinner; noise level was conducive to good conversation yet not to quiet. Free parking across the street a plus. Will definitely return. Fantastic food and ambiance."

"First time there, and have been meaning to try it. First, food is quite good. Service was VERY average. Took us 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Finally straightened out who was serving our table. Asked for a Dubonnet, we were told they don't have it, and told to order something else. I asked if she could check the bar. She came back and said they have it, but she had never heard of it... OK, if you're that new, then find out if you have a drink before telling the customer you don't have it.
The times back at the table ranged from 30 seconds to 15 minutes. Finally told us to order as it was 45 minutes for dinner, and we got our meal in 10, while eating appetizers. Overall, somewhat disappointing experience."

"This was our 1st time here and we LOVED IT...we will definately be back...food was fresh & fantastic, we savored every last mouthful. Can be a wee bit pricey but it's worth every penny, and make sure you save room for dessert, it's a must!!"

"We didn't like the server much for various reasons. He spat while yelling into our ears and definitely should relearn how to pour water into glasses and not spilling around it...definitely someone I didn't expect to work in a high end restaurant. I get better served at moxies or the keg. Food was ok."

"This is one of the more pleasant dining experiences I have had in some time. The food was delicious and I appreciate that they do not overwhelm you with choices. We did have a slight problem with one of our meals but the staff went above and beyond to correct it and were generous towards us as a result. The whole experience was text book dining. I appreciate the way La Vita E Bella seems geared towards the customer. A rare thing these days indeed!"

"Sunday evening on a snowy Calgary day. My friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant. Therefore, the service was attentive to say the least but the ambiance was a little lacking, the music kept going off so we felt like we were in a library instead of a restaurant. The meatball appetizer is hearty and tasty! I would try again on a night that had some more guests."

"Order the Trout! Wow - delicious dish full of seafood and lovely piece of trout. Just enough broth (like a flavourful bouillabaisse) and very tastey - not salty - just right!

Good luck deciding on a wine! The wine list is full of decsions.... we settled on a fantastic Chianti (also available by the glass) that went well with both meals.

"My husband and I went to La Vita e Bella this past Sunday night (Mar.24) for his belated birthday supper. We'd heard good things about this restaurant before and finally had the opportunity to check it out. The ambience is captivating and would be ideal for a romantic meal or a meal out with some friends. The waiter was pleasant and welcoming when we arrived. He was knowledgable about the menu and gave some good suggestions about menus and wine lists. Considering the quality of the food and the delicate nature of it's preparation, the prices were easily affordable. We've certainly been to other high end restaurants and paid much more for the same amount of food. Will definitely return....maybe next time enjoy a meal with a group!"

We had to send the risotto back because it was quite crunchy, but the waitress who served us allowed me to change my order instead of just bringing a new one out. I appreciated that option as I didn't want to "risk" waiting for the risotto again. However, all the pasta dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious.
This was our second time at this restaurant and I think it's safe to say we will be back soon!"

"Friendly, warm ambiance when we walked in the restaurant. Got a table tucked into one of the back rooms - easy to talk, warm lighting. Menu is old-school Italian, not too much on it, but what we tried was very good - beef tenderloin for me and osso bucco for my husband - really delicious. Service was attentive and informative, wine was lovely. We should have taken the server's dessert recommendation (panna cotta or cheesecake). We opted for tiramisu instead and it was a little heavy and sticky, but still fine. All in, a really nice night out. We've been meaning to try this place for months, and we're glad we did. We'd go back."

"We enjoy this restaurant as often as we can and have never been disappointed. This time was extra special as we brought our parents out for their anniversary and we were treated to a delightful aperitif on the house. Also, we were late arriving to our reservation and they called us to arrange a later arrival. Superb customer service and scrumptious food all around. "I've been to La Vita E Bella several times in the last few years and I have to say the quality of the meals has dramatically fallen with time, which is very disappointing since the food once was delicious. But I fear these times are over. Yesterday, both my wife's meal and mine were simply not tasty. And the chocolate mousses, which I really loved the first few times I had them, tasted a bad mix of philadelphia cheese and castor sugar. All this makes me wonder if they had some turnover in the kitchen and if they are struggling since then.
I hope the food will at some point return to the level it used to be but I'll certainly let water pass under the bridge before I give it another try."

"I have been to La Vita E Bella with clients on multiple occasions and will keep coming back. I have seen just about every item on the menu ordered and the feedback is always excellent.
The atmpshpere is great and the staff is very friendly! The setting is suitable for business or romance.
As a BD guy I do a great deal of dining out and La Vita E Bella is a hit on my list. I will definatley be back."
