"When they changed the name from Block 16 to Leonora they must have fired the chef and its outstanding staff too. Horrific dining experience. Food quality was poor, service was marginal and the current staff seemed to be in a daze. The last 2 years Block 16 was our favorite. What happened? Unfortunately we will never return. Too many good restaurants in Vail to risk a bad meal."

"After reading mixed reviews on this place we decided to try it. Was pretty disappointed in our meal. What the menu says and what you actually receive are two different things. Frisee salad with asparagus had no asparagus, lamb with bean cassoulet was not at all a cassoulet, striped bass that was described as a paella had the smallest shrimp, mussels and clams we had ever seen. For the price we had expected a much better meal. The waiter was not familiar at all with the wine list so not helpful with coming up with suggestions for the meal."

"Food was actually good although tapas portions were over priced for what you got. Mains of sea bass and chicken delicious. Tuna was passable. Service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. The waitress we had brought us the wrong dish then charged us for it. She was surly from the beginning and needs an alternative job. The assistant manager knew we were upset since he came up to us at the end of the meal. Why he did nothing to rectify the situation earlier I do not know."

"We had a good experience at Leonora - although the menu a bit limited. We were expecting more breadth of small plates to share. That said - all was fine until we got the bill. It was ridiculous that my friend would literally be charged for two ice teas at $3.50 each!! Even IHOP would have free ice tea refills - really!! WHile they removed it from the bill - the fact that it even happened certainly makes me think twice about recommending the restaurant as it seems very cheap."

"What a confusing place. It was impossible to figure out who was suppose to be our server - one person introduced himself, but everyone else participated, from taking our order forward. The food was okay - salmon was overcooked and too salty but a very nice piece of fish."

"We had wanted to go to Leonora's for quite a while and booked our table for 8:30 p.m. The ambiance very nice as is the rest of the Sebastian Hotel. Service was excellent and their wine list was exceptional. However, the calamari was soggy and included 90% tentacles and very few rings. The lobster tacos were awful. They had no flavor and were way too spicy. The wine we selected by the glass was a Malbec Blend and was $16/glass for what appeared to be 4 oz only. When asked for another glass the server filled our glasses before they were empty and only to the same level as the first pour. Inappropriate since we were charged for a full glass. Total bill for two appetizers and four glasses of wine...$114.00. High, even for Vail."

"This was the second time I have been to Leonora, the third time for my husband. Once again the food was very good. Unfortunately the service by our waitress this time was abysmal. From the moment we sat down it was clear that she was trying to rush us out of there, pressing us to order, bringing the appetizers before we had received the wine, taking my husband's plate before I was done eating, and then bringing the check before she had asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. In fact, another waiter who had cleared my plate had asked about coffee and we had ordered it, so there was also a failure to communicate among staff. This pressure to leave ruined the experience for us. Oh, and the techno music in the background has to go"

"This was my second visit. This restaurant was Block 16 last year, allegedly with the same chef. They should have kept it as it was. Block 16 menus and food were both great as was the wine and some of the waitstaff. Leonora service is a disaster. A common problem at both incarnations was the lack of a bar; so after ordering drinks the waiter disappears for 10 minutes or more to get the drinks from a bar downstairs in the main hotel. Drinks in Martini glasses are thus either warmed up or spilt, or both. The first time we went to Leonora the food was a total disaster, but the service was worse. The second time the food was decent as we avoided all the dishes we ordered the first time; the service was still atrocious."

"We felt like our wait person was rushing us throughout our entire meal. We were offered dessert before being asked if we wanted entrees, and when we ordered a second glass of wine, she poured it into the glass that had the previous wine in it, even though they were two different wines. For the money, we were not impressed."

"Just more forced "high-end" dining in the Vail area. Fancy for the sake of being fancy. Food was average, nothing spectacular, and would have been significantly more enjoyable if the service was better. The hostess and the waiter got in an argument in front of us while they were looking for our reservation. Also, we would have ordered more wine and food if our waiter had made it by our table a few more times. Additionally it was very cold in the restaurant. Freezing temperatures outside in Colorado is acceptable, inside is less than ideal. My wife and I will not be back."

"Hidden Gem in Vail. I like the menu better now that they changed it .... still amazing food and flavors... and also a big variety for everyone! Apps and small plates and entrees were all delicious. This is a dinner that takes a bit of time so sit back and enjoy this culinary delight! Service is great! Ambience is gorgeous and modern. Very neat experience. Kids like this place too but would recommend more for adults."

"Should have listened to the prior reviews! The service was awful! The service team is disjointed. It took the server a while to take our drink order. We ordered tapas and all of the food arrived at once. I ordered a 2nd glass of wine and it never came. Our water glasses were empty and we had to flag someone downt to get a refill. We noticed the other tables were looking for their server and couldn't get service. The tuna ceviche was very good. The other food was good but not great (we ordered lobster tacos, cheese plate and cheese flatbread). Also - the flatbreads are not flatbreads - they are doughy pizza. There are too many great options in Vail to tolerate the poor service."

"We liked the food and wine list well enough to eat at Leonora twice while in Vail for the week. But both times the service was off, the second time even more than the first. For starters, the wine list is very limited and we noticed it did not contain many of the bottles that we could see in the center, very cool, glass wine cellar. When we asked about this we were given an unbound stack of paper containing the full list, which was much more comprehensive. (Our first night we had the Hope & Grace Cab, which was fantastic and well priced.) This happened again the second visit. Also, steer clear of the calamari. It is mediocre, at best, unlike the rest of the food."
