"This was my 3rd time dining at TDS. The first 2 were amazing &, of course, I raved about it my dinner companion this psst visit. Oops! The bartender & waiter didn't get my drink right on either the 1st or 2nd try. My favorite veal chop Valdostana was "unavailable." The inside our meatballs were delectable as usual, but the Buffalo calamari relatively bland. So, at this place with steak in its name, I tried the ribeye, my favorite piece fo beef. The chef should have been embarassed to present such a tasteless and overwhelmingly fatty entree; not less than a third of what was on plate was white, visible fat, made worse by a lack of seasoning, really unenjoyable. Substituted truffle fries were the only redeeming aspect of the main course."

"we found tredici steak here on open table, and boy are we glad we did! the other part of tredici is an italian restaurant downstairs...here you have to take an elevator upstairs to a hidden door. the moment you walk in, you are struck by the old world/ sort of 1920's atmosphere. lots of red, a bit dark - but not so dark because of the huge picture window. we both had the crab salad(yum)...full of crab and mango and other great things! my best friend had a yummy pork chop - and i had an amazing grilled veal chop, with nice pasta on the side. A definite winner here!"

"Good food, excellent service and a fabulous room continue to be the tenant at this secret upstairs "hole in the wall" in New York City. We have found the food slipping a bit. Our last dinner salads sent back woefully and inappropriately underdressed and there were just in total, about a teaspoon of mashed potatoes with the chicken under a brick. Still, the restaurant was accommodating. We just hope these few hiccups are not indicative of a future trend. After all, people go to , and stop going to, a restaurant because of the food,"

"Not knowing what to expect, I made a 5:00pm reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant had just opened, and we had an entire section to ourselves! So rare in New York City to go to a nice restaurant and find it virtually empty. The food was wonderful, the service was on point, and the music fit the decor of the restaurant perfectly. The "speakeasy" decor was attractive and well-done throughout the restaurant. I would highly recommend Tre dici Steak for a romantic dinner in the city."

"It was date night the ambiance of a dark speakeasy seemed like a good plan. I had a bad feeling when we waited ten minutes for a 2 floor elevator that never showed. Once we walked upstairs the service was friendly enough. Then we ordered...our medium cooked steaks came out RARE. We then proceeded to wait about 15 minutes for the waiter to come back with our drinks. Once he did, I asked him politely to bring the steaks back and was told that they're "medium is closer to rare," with a bothered attitude. Maybe it was an off-night, we all have them. The place has promise. If you go in there thinking that medium is rare, a healthy set of legs, and a non-confrontational demeanor you'll love it."

"Like others have said, it has a speakeasy feel to it, very romantic. As it was our anniversary, I'd requested a quiet table; the very nice host offered us our choice of tables an recommended one by the fireplace. Our server was pleasant and professional. We had the meatball appetizer and caprese salad, both of which were good. We cross-tasted our entrees, Kobe ravioli and roasted chicken; both were great. Had a strawberry champagne cocktail and a glass of Barolo with dinner. Nice spot for a celebration."

"What a great find...once you find it! It was be hidden behind a plain black door in what appeared o be an apartment building in the flower district. The decor was nice, the food excellent. I had the Mac n cheese, which was topped with lobster and my companion had the ahi tuna. We both had the creamed spinach. Dessert was Drunken bananas-yummy. The food was well prepared and the server was attentive."

"Tre Dici Steak is a gem. This was my second visit and did not disappoint. Although I again dined on the inside out meatballs and Valdostana veal chop, I know i will have to return to venture out onto other menu items. My companion had the lobster mac and cheese, which I tried to confirm its deliciousness. Her burger was tremendous in botht size and taste and the parmagiana truffle fries are a piece of heaven. Can't wait to get back!"

"It was definitely an interesting spot - lights dimmed low, definitely all the potential for a romantic evening, but not all the parties coming here dress the part. Like with anything, one man's diamond is another man's zirconia, and to some folks, it's just an ordinary night out so some guests showed up in shorts, and sneakers.
That being said, the food was nice, and goodness the steaks were huge, and the waiters were extremely attentive.
All in all, it was a very nice dinner."

"The speakeasy atmosphere is charming and relaxing. The food will appeal to the meat-and-potatoes man and the gourmand alike. I had a lovely salad with a truffled honey dressing that was so delicately delicious that I continued to conjur the taste from memory all the next day. The marrow dumplings were a special treat as well. The 20-layer crepe cake was beautifully executed, but I wished the whipped cream layers had been given more flavor, such as amaretto. There are steaks, burgers, deep fried things, and pasta as well... elevated but not alienating to my midwestern husband. I wish they had offered a wider selection of scotch, but the selections they had were good. The waitstaff was green and uncertain, but earnest and polite all the same."

"What began as a rainy evening in NYC turned out to be an excellent surprise thanks to our discovery of Tre Dici Steak. One of our group works very near that location and was desiring a good steak. We were immediately seated and had both excellent service and excellent cuisine from antipasti through dessert. I personally had possibly the best caprese salad tower I have ever enjoyed!"

"Tredici Steak is flat out great. It does an excellent job of pulling off the speakeasy atmosphere; from the old elevator, to the peephole door, to the subtle lighting, everything was very well done.
What really shined about Tredici Steak, however, was the downright clever and innovative drinks and dishes the resuarant offered. As far as drinks go I usually stick to a dewer's, but their mixed drinks selection was charmingly unique. I ended up sipping their tasty concoctions all night.
For my entree I played it safe with a hanger steak but had one of their specials as a starter and couldn't help but laugh at the simple awesomeness of it: fried calamari in a buffalo style sauce with gorgonzola cheese. It was downright amazing."

"It was our first time dining at Tredici Steak. My family was very much surprised when I headed upstairs in a building that looked like residential house. But when we opened the door and let ourselves into the restaurant they were surprised even more. So, if you want to impress your date or your company don't tell them where you're going. Our waiter was very courteous, answered all our questions. The food was great. 2 lb lobster and a veal chop on a bone looked very impressive and were really delicious. If you want to spend your evening nicely and quietly and have a good meal go to Tredici Steak."

"Two words, actually, one repeated twice: Wow. Wow. What a phenomenal pre-Rangers game feast. Generous drinks. Beautiful and attentive servers. Don't really know what an inside out meatball is other than to tell you you it's a must eat piece of heaven. While the menu has much to choose from, all of it seemingly fantastic, I enjoyed the veal chop Valdostana special, and special it was. These dishes were thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients and were indicative a a chef who takes care and pride in his servings. The portions are fair, if not generous, and you will not leave hungry, although you may desire a taste of more. I look forward to an encore. Bravo."

"Ladies night that was unique and a hoot. More because we made it that way than the restaurant. But nothing was BAD!!! Tuna a bit tough but too much fun to care The best part was witnessing an engagement!!! Romantic. Great fun service and we will come back for the fun!!!!!"

"After a very slow start (almost 20 minutes before our server came to the table asking for drinks)the night was wonderful. Each plate was cooked to perfection, filet of sole, filet mignon and organic chicken. Highly recommend the inside-out meatballs.
Lastly, the wine and the excellent ambiance, plus the truly unique entrance (which makes your guests look at you like your crazy) makes it for a truly special night."

"The restaurant was amazing! Things appeared a little sketchy walking up two flights of stairs to get to the restaurant, but upon opening the door, I was amazed. I went there for a romantic evening with my girlfriend. We were seated right away (had a reservation); and a menu was presented; it was simple and did not have you wondering all over the place. The chairs were so comfortable, and the table perfectly set. Looking around this pleasantly decorated room, the red and dark colors gave it an intimate feeling and the noise level was minimal. The foot was beyond delicious! We had the filet mignon and the sirloin, both cooked at perfect temperatures. The prices matched the proportion, more than enough for us to take home. Overall, A+!"

"I'm a sucker for faux speak-easies and this did not disappoint. Who doesn't love an unmarked entrance?? The inside-out meatballs were incredible and the decor looks great. Would be the perfect spot for valentine's day with the red velvet walls but the noise level and music choice subtracts from the romance. It seems like despite the addition of great dining options and dimmed lighting, they are staying true to the fact they want to be a secret bar bar first and a restaurant second. It is definitely a cool spot and should be added to your list if you haven't been there yet."

"Not quite as exclusive or intriguing a hideaway as hoped for. Overall its a good choice but our party was alone in the room by the kitchen. The pasta we split for our appetizer was very rich and really bursting with flavors. The fish my date had was not quite as good and we felt a little forgotten given the empty tables around us. The drinks were excellent and we did enjoy our meal on the whole."

"This place is a real find. We were looking for a romantic place for our 10 year anniversary and this place hit the nail on the head. The ambiance put us in a wonderfully relaxed and loving mood. The service was quick with an attentive staff. The food was delicious. The whole experience made us feel like we were transported back in time. Two hours passed like 10 minutes. A gem!!"

"I was working in the neighborhood for a week. Couldn't get out and explore the city, because I had to stay close and work. This is the gem of them neighborhood. I wish I had found it before Friday night! It has an excellent atmosphere complemented by great service and menu."

"The food was uneven. The pasta dish my companion had was excellent whereas my NY strip steak was just fair & the potato “thing” that accompanied it was awful & hard as a rock. I still would come back to Tredici Steak but just not for the steaks which are not steak house quality. The ambiance is wonderful & the service is great & the prices are just right. They really should eliminate the word “Steak” from their name though."

"I booked this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Never even heard of it. But what a surprise. The entrance is very intriguing just like a speakeasy, staff was wonderful. My husband and I were greated with a glass of champagne to celebrate. The menu was wonderful and there were many specials. We will surely be back and will bring our friends."
