"My boyfriend and I were looking forward to sonsie However, from the beginning with the hostess it went from bad to worse. She had a horrible attitude which made us wonder why this place would have someone like her - someone who's rude to the guests - be the first person one would encounter. Then the waiter waited 20 minutes before even stopping by the table (which we didn't even have menus). The service is very slow. Then when the food came out it wasn't anything to talk about - very plain. Definitely not worth what you're paying. The salmon is just 2 oz and costs $23. The pizza wasn't good nor were the spring rolls. It took an extra half hour just trying to get our check. The front part looked nice but won't ever eat there again!"

"With the reopening of Boston's Bolyston St area, a trip to Sonsie's was a requirement.
As always the food was wonderful, the service top notch and the scene was great to watch.

"The food and service at Sonsie was great. We started dinner at the bar with drinks before dinner and found the bar keepers to be very attentive to our needs. Once we moved to the table our waiter was very energetic and helpful in heloing us make our selections. Our appetizers, entree, and desserts were all very good. I enjoyed it so much I returned the following evening to try other things on the menu, and had a similar experience."

"This restaurant was considered a busy restaurant located on the Newbury St., thus, prior to dining there, we make sure to make a reservation. However, upon arriving, we were told to wait for our table for more than 20 minutes even though we called to make sure that we were coming, if a little bit late. The food was great, but the waiters were a little bit hard to get there attention. Overall, it would be a nice place to hang out, but not recommended on a busy weekends."

"I've been to Sonsie a couple times and have always been satisfied. It seemed they were struggling with keeping up with reservations this time as we had to wait about 40 minutes past or reservation time to be seated, but hopefully that was just the day. The food is good, but would not make me want to wait that long past a reservation in the future."

"My wife and I have birthdays one day apart. We dined at Sonsie on my birthday as a dual celebration. The restaurant was so noisy we had great difficulty hearing each other, and had we dined with another couple, we would not have been able to carry on a conversation with each other. "We ate here the last two Easter Sundays for brunch because it was a la carte and not a costly buffet. The brunch menu covers everyone's tastes from Eggs Benedict to gourmet personal pizzas, plus an excellent bread basket. I was particularly impressed that although the place was packed, we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time both years. The service was just right. It is a lively hot spot when the windows are open onto Newbury Street. The tables are close but it's a fun vibe."

"We were here for Easter Brunch. Delicious meals: Baked eggs, Quiche, Steak and eggs. Service was quick and friendly. All in all a good experience until the bill came. We were charged for a drink we did not have, and when we notified the waitress, she said "There's an extra mimosa on there isn't there?" It felt like we were being knowingly overcharged, rather than a simple mistake. The incident did not ruin our Easter Brunch, but it left a bad taste in our mouth for Sonsie."

"This was a perfect spot on a sunny day to treat my cousin visiting from out of town to a delicious slice of Boston's food &cultcha! We were in the second row of tables facing the open view of Newbury's foot traffic, so our starter of people watching was very satisfying. We sipped blood orange mimosas and feasted on rum banana French toast and the sausage/potato frittata, both were large portions & delish. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars is that I like a little crunch in my French toast - the flavors were great, but rum caramel sauce took away the crispness of the toast, I guess that is the downside of rum caramel! The servers were friendly, attentive, but not obtrusive. Make a reservation if you go on the weekend!"

"I really enjoyed Sonsie. My friend ordered the frittata for lunch and it ended up being a little spicy for her taste. She wasn't sure whether to mention it or not, but the manager came by and asked how everything was and offered to replace it for her without any fuss. We ended up ordering two desserts and finished off the meal with the spice cake (which was to die for) and the banana pudding."

"Very mediocre dining experience. Service was slow. I hope we had a new waitress because if she was experienced, then I'm scared for this place. She didn't know what kind of bourbon's they had at the bar, when she came back couldn't remember them all. Our oyster order was messed up, I ordered 6, my friend ordered 2, we got 7 and 6. It took forever to correct my friend's order. It's oysters, you shuck them, I thought they had gone back out to the bay to get fresh ones. All the while my oysters were still sitting in front of me. Bread showed up to the table very late. I had the trout, it was very "meh."

"Sonsie is a great spot on Newbury St. In the summer they open up the windows in front which is nice. At night the lighting is very dark, a good ambience for date night. Every entree I have had here has been well put together and original. Their pizzas are unique, delicious, and inexpensive. Definitely one of my go to spots."

"I like the food at Sonsie, but just be aware that it gets very busy and the wait staff is attentive but can also have some oversights. It was really loud and would be fun for groups of friends. I have also been here when it's less busy. I like Sonsie and will go back, there are things on the menu I still want to try!"

"Sonsie is always great for date night. I enjoy the seating by the window. There is always great people watching to do from there. The ambiance is sophisticated chic, romantic dimmed lighting. I am always pleased with my meal and the level of service. The staff is very professional and not pretentious. I always book through Open Table and request a seat near the window Each time I've done that, I have been seated right in front of the windows. They definitely cater to my requests. I highly recommend Sonsie for dates, catching up with friends or even dining solo."

"This was our first time to Sonsie. The service was prompt and very attentive. The wait staff was well versed in the wine list and recommended a few based on our dinner selections. The scallop appetizer was delicious. The mussels were good but coming from Maine I didn't find them great. The butternut ravioli was very flavorful and some of the best we've had. The salmon was very good but on a bed of greens that included asparagus (which I don't eat) which wasn't mentioned on the menu that I recall. All in all a great experience, wonderful food and attentive wait staff."
