Lunch offers a wide array of excellent sandwiches, salads and business entrees, while dinner leans toward the more elaborate and inventive. Our commitment to a relaxed atmosphere and charming personality has enabled McEwen’s on Monroe to become one of Downtown’s most comfortable restaurants. Employing a knowledgeable and attentive staff always at the ready. In addition to the bar and dining room, our wine cellar is available for parties up to 20 people.
"I can't believe this was my first visit to McEwen's after all these years. I'm not too mesmerized with the Downtown food scene. They come and go, but I know that McEwen's has shepherded the scene for the last decade.
I recommend ordering a variety of small plates in order to get the feel of Chef Keith's culinary blueprint. I started with the soup de jour, which was poblano and crab chowder- I wanted a few more bowls because that was out of this world. Then I had the appetizer portion of piccata-style scallops with grits and small plate saffron lobster risotto. The scallops were some the best I have ever eaten. They were buttery goodness with bold flavor. The lobster risotto was great, but I should have ordered a better wine pair."

"The food was excellent, but would not be my choice again for a romantic evening. It was very difficult to have a conversation without yelling at your partner. That is acceptable at the bar, but not for dinner."

"We had such a wonderful meal at this restaurant that we could have eaten there two nights in a row. We were on a road trip and wanted to try other places but this was one of the tops!"

"We were in town for the BMA's and heard alot about McEwen's. We weren't disappointed. My wife had the mushroom salad and I had the oysters as appetizers. The oysters were plump, not greasy and properly breaded. For a main course I had the Osso Buco, excellent. The missus had two appetizers as her main course, the pork tenderloins and the lobster risotto. She raved about both plates. The wine list is fairly priced. Excellent service."

"Food was absolutely great! Table setting was nice, the whole ambience is welcoming. The only downside is that room is kind of small, and when all tables are occupied noise is too loud."

"Menu has a nice variety of offerings as well as a vegetarian plate. Food was fantastic...presentation very nice. Only complaint I would have is that towards the evening our waitress seemed to get lost...forgot one of the guests desserts had to be reminded...Nice atmoshere; good for business dinner or anniversary/special occasion. Intimate setting, bar area separate from dining area, which I thought was very nice."

"Our meal was great from start to finish. The scallops and grits and the tenderloin were both outstanding; the waitress was attentive and the food came out quickly. A special standout were the biscuits - we had seconds and thirds! A delightful evening."

"One of the best restaurants we have experienced over the past 2 years. The food and ambiance are beyond compare. We are from Austin, TX where the choices are superb. This restaurant equals any of the best in Austin and certainly exceeds most in Memphis."

"McEwen's has been around for 15 years and is still going strong, even with a switch in ownership 5 years ago -- it has a relaxing but upscale atmosphere with excellent service and food as well as convenient valet parking ... which is great when it is raining!"

"Everything was great. My portion size was perfect (not too much or too little). The pork tenderloin portion was extremely small (3 thin small pieces). Very good but could have been outstanding with a proper portion size."

"Love McEwen's, but probably the worst experience I've had there, mainly because of the condescending comments from our server. She clearly did not want to wait on us."

"McEwen's is on our list to visit again. My wife rarely eats steak which she opted for this night. This is this first time I have ever heard her comment how much she enjoyed her meal more than once and shared the experience with others. Her comment was not only on the Kobi Beef but on the unique seasoning. I felt the price was reasonable considering the meau included all the sides. Overall a great bet for an enjoyable experience that will not break the bank. Our service was very good."

"Had the fried oysters, crab bisque, red fish, and pork osso buco. A competent preparation of these fundamentally tasty foods would have been fine. But each had an element of uniqueness that made this introduction to Mcewens a memorable experience that we hope to have again soon. And the biscuits, served as bread for the table, reminded me of my dear mother's. One would expect the atmosphere and service to be much more sirene and subtly attentive. So I would recommend for a night out on the town but not for a romantic occasion."
