"I took my wife for Mother's Day and I had a 1700 dinner time. We arrived early and was told that the table would be ready at 1700. We went to the bar for a drink and at 1700 we were told that our table was ready. We had a booth and it was very large. We had a group of about 12 next to us and they were fine, I just thought they were much closer to our booth than I would have liked. The service was great and there aged ribeye was one of the best I have had. I wish that for the price of the ribeye you got at least one side with the meal, but that is not how it goes at River Stone. All sides are extra so be prepaired to spend a little more. Overall this was a great experience and would do it again, but only for a special occasion."

"I recently took my mother to the Chophouse for Mothers Day!. We enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. She is an avid attendant of this restaurant and when asked where she wanted to eat for Mothers Day, without hesitation, it was River Stone. The food is phenomenal, service is top notch, and the overall scenery was fitting for the occasion. Great restaurant!!!"

"Very good experience. Service and ambience were outstanding. One area that could use a minor adjustment - we ordered calamari as an appetizer. We eat it a lot when we dine out. The use of corn meal is innovative, but not appealing to the taste. The calamari was not tender enough and not in keeping with a five star restaurant. The sauce that accompanied the calamari was absolutely outstanding. Recommend you do a secret shop at Carabaras in Greenbrier and try their calamari - it is markedly better."

"The restaurant is nice but I will not be going back. Our server kind of treated us like we weren't supposed to be there. He did not go over any of the special dishes that were listed on a board on the wall. He only told us what the fish, soup and veggie of the day were. My husband got a steak and the whole thing was full of fat, you could just see it everywhere. My steak was good but it was a different cut .The veggie of the day was braised cabbage - I asked what was in it and it was told of every ingredient except for the red pepper and it was HOT! We got very upset when the server waiting on the table next to us went over ALL of the specials with his patrons. It was not busy at all and we should have had better service!"

"This is a great spot and Ryan was an excellent server on Friday nite 4/26 @ 6:15 PM. It is unfornuate they do not offer reservations in the Raw Bar so it was first come, first served. They did contact me and were more than accomodating but my wife enjoy the casual energy of the Raw Bar area......NO WORRIES!!!!"

"Great restaurant. I must say that the steak I was served was the best I have ever had. If you a potato kind of the person the red smashed potatoes are a must. My Server was outstandin and the manager was great also. The really seem to want to make your visit enjoyable. The dinner drinks are second to none. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. It wasn't so packed that you couldn't enjoy you meal and company. Noise level was low, soft lighting, and overall romantic feel make this a good spot for a special night out with your spouse."

"My wife and I traveled to River Stone Chophouse in Suffolk for our 21st. Anniversary Dinner. The trip was well worth the effort. Although difficult to get to from the Southside of Hampton Roads, the steak and style are worth the traffic. They, of course, are known for their meats. Prior to the meal, the server will bring out a meat board for you to look at the choices of steaks (Filet, T- Bone and Strip). They also have Colorado Lamb, and thick Pork chops. BUT, you can also have seafood. My wife chose the Salmon (which melted in my mouth, when I tried it), While I went with the NY Strip. My steak was perfectly cooked. The price of the meal is high end, however you'll find the steaks costing less than Ruth's Chris"

"We had a very nice time. The food was very well prepared and time perfectly. We were able to have dinner and not feel rushed to leave the table. Not for the budget minded, but if you want to have a good splurge this is the place."

"This is my place to eat. It was a wonderful meal. The House Cured and Smoked Salmon is a perfect light appetizer. The potato soup makes you want to tilt the bowl and get every last drop. Sesame-Crusted Salmon over shrimp fried rice was cooked to perfections and the rice was so good we had to order another bowl to take home. I am not a steak person but I ate some of the Bone-in Dry-Aged Ribeye and it melted in my mouth, it was heavenly. I actaully moaned when I ate the Flourless Dark Chocolate Torte. It was a good meal"

"I called to ask if our reservation would be held since we were running late. The hostess was very friendly & polite. She thanked me for calling & we were seated immediately upon arrival. It was very quiet & romantic. I loved the decor, simple & elegant. Our server was knowledgable & didn't hover. He came by to check on us at just the right time & answered all of our questions right away. It was a wonderful evening. The food was perfectly prepared & displayed. The only thing that brought the experience down was the restaurant got noisy as more groups came in. At first there were only couples & then the groups started showing up. At least it was quiet most of the time we were there."

"My wife and I dine here frequently and as always we were treated to an excellent dining experience. We were welcomed at the door by a professional and inviting hostess. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgable and quick to answer any questions. The service was prompt but not hurried and we were made to feel very welcome. We visited during restaurant week and were treated to some dishes that are not always on the regular menu. The food was excellent and well prepared. Morgan, Dillon, Ryan and as always Terry Truitt made sure we had a wonderful experience."

"The atmosphere was perfect for the celebration of a birthday. The food was delicous, presentation excelent, and the server was extremely helpful. We particularly enjoyed the conversation with the manager. We really want you to know the salad was the most important starting point and a drawing card to come back again."

"I gave the waitress a $50 bill and a credit card to pay the bill. She came back and said 'thank you! for the generous tip!' all gushy. I didn't tip her the cash, She should have applied the cash and remainder on credit AND if not sure, she should have asked. Then I felt compelled/obligated to give her the $50 tip. It was excessive for a total bill (including tax (230) A tip of 40 tops would have been over 20%. It ruined my night."

"My wife and I opted to sit in bar area due to an earlier seating preference. The bar menu has some different options than the main dining area but you could still order the main entrees. I ordered their house special 22oz Bone-in Ribeye. It was perfection!"

"This is the first time we have given the Riverstone anything less than 5 stars. When you spend $200 (not including tip) on a meal, you want a $200 dinner experience. This did not happen upon our most recent visit. The meat did not seem to be the same quality that we had experienced prior to this visit, the appetizer had so much salt that we couldn't even finish it, and their recent dessert changes left us without our favorite part of the meal, creme brûlée since we do not enjoy the taste of coffee that is in their new creme brûlée dish. We never mind spending money on a nice dinner, but we want to feel like it was worth it, and this visit made us reconsider Riverstone as a first choice for dinner. I am not sure that we will return at all."

"We had been before, however, Friday nites are exceptionally busy so we made a reservation. We arrived early, but didn't necessarily expected to be be seated right away. We did need to wait alittle over a half hour for our reservation time. It was a special birthday, so everyone was very kind to note. Service was a little slow, but very courteous.
The food was very tasty, but can't really say it merits the prices. Overall, a nice experience for a special occassion."

"Premier steak resturnat in Hampton Roads. The River Stone Chophouse has all you would expect from a first class chophouse style resturant. Extensive wine selection, knowledgeable professional servers, and a truly great dry aged bone in rib eye. (i believe this is their signature cut and well worth the indulgence). They have plenty of room in the main dining area and this has become a preferred location for business dinners with larger groups."

"Our favorite restaurant for any special occasion. I've have never had a bad experience, and the service is always incredible. The steak is always cooked to perfection. We have yet to find another restaurant to have a steak that even comes close. When in season, I highly recommend the delicious collard greens and sweet potato casserole as the sides for your meal. You can't go wrong with Riverstone Chophouse."

"This was our first experience at RSC and hopefully, not our last. Everything about our visit was fantastic. Our server, Fallon, was everything one could hope for. Pleasant, polite and very knowledgeable. We all started with oysters on the half shell and each variety was very good. We then moved on to our dinners and everyone was very happy. My wife and I had one of their cut-in-house steaks, and my mother-in-law had one of the specials. Desserts were equally as good. RSC has their own pastry chef that makes all the desserts in-house. This restaurant has a huge wine list with a large variety of price points. I highly recommend this restaurant. Do make a reservation, though. It was pretty crowded when we got there on a Friday night."
