Fork, a nationally acclaimed New American bistro, offers delicious food that is seasonal, fresh and inventive. The menu reflects international influences from around the world. Fork uses only the highest quality ingredients, many of which are supplied by local farmers from throughout the Philadelphia area. Part of Fork's allure is its hip, stylish, sophisticated interior, where the dining experience is anything but stuffy and uncomfortable. Fork's hand-painted chandelier shades catch your eye as you look above the cast-concrete bar. Hand-painted velvet-patterned curtains fall gracefully from ceiling to floor, adding to the restaurant's comfortable, friendly setting. "The freshest food you can imagine and beautifully prepared. That's Fork. You're hungry the minute you walk in and smell the food cooking in the open kitchen. I had the pork and my sister had the duck, and each was succulent. Terrific atmosphere -- Provencal colors on the walls is very relaxing -- first-rate service, excellent wine list (best I've seen by the glass), great beer list, you can't want more than this. I'm going back next time I'm in town."

"Good points......food and drink were excellent as was our wait staff. Bad points......very busy, felt as if we were rushed through all of our courses, quite loud....not a great place for a nice, quiet, romantic dinner. Overall, I would most definitely visit again!"

"We went to Fork to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. Everyone had a marvelous meal and a wonderful time. The food was excellent, creative and sophisticated without being outlandish, and the atmosphere was really festive without being loud. Fun music, helpful and friendly service, happy clientelle. I can't wait to return to Philadelphia to go back."

"Beef stroganoff is not something one sees on too many of the trendy-joint menus. Pity the fools who don't order this awesome bowl of late winter comfort. Fork has returned to - no, exceeded - its earlier glory and is among the best our city has to offer."

"To be greeted by the odor of dead fish is not the best intro to a fine dining experience.
We arrived 5 minutes early and were instructed to take a seat on the sofa. The sofa was already occupied so we stood in a small area which also contained a table for two. It was difficult for the wait staff to attend to the table and, had I been seated at that table I would not have been happy. Too close for comfort."

"We had a great experience. It was worth the drive from Virginia. We had been before for lunch but not for dinner. All of the help was welcoming and worked hard to deliver a perfect 10. My vegetarian request was kindly received and creatively provided. Get reservations - we did in advance."

"Great food and service. We enjoyed our dinner and felt very well taken care of. Although it was a busy Saturday night, we did not feel rushed. My only comment is that there were not many vegetarian entree options. My risotto was not as spectacular as everyone else's fish or meat entrees. However, the vegetable sides were amazing and a great consolation!"

"Fork Restaurant is a real treasure. Food and service were outstanding. The tapas appetizer became my main entree: the salted cod (one of the four tapases) in a garlic cream reduction sauce and sprouts may not sound so great to some, but it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Seriously. I also ordered another appetizer (pappardelle with duck) which was perfect for winter moods; hearty and satisfying. My wife had the Viking scallops which were cooked to perfection, and a side of the parmesan risotta was rich and creamy: a "spiritual experience", she comically stated. But true."

"The new chef has significantly improved the menu, which, before his arrival, was getting to be a bit boring. The fresh vegetables incorporated into the various dishes are outstanding. Desert is still unsatisfactory - looks like a new pastry chef is needed.
Service is still lackadaisical - before the arrival of the owner, the waiters engaged in some raucuous banter."

"We were seated in the window spot, so I didn't get to check out the the ambience but the restaurant looked inviting. As it was, the window table would be perfect for a private romantic dinner or business where one needed privacy. The waiter was attentive, but not overbearing. The food was fresh,interesting and hot. I'd never had mussel hash before and it was unusual and wonderful. Small mussels were nestled in the cubed potatoes with a mussel sauce. The cod was fresh, flakey and moist. By friends had the Cape May Fluke and were also impressed. In all, a great experience. I'd like to go again, and this time, see the rest of the restaurant."

"Found a new favorite - everything the other restaurants in Philly aren't and should be. Wonderful food, great wine AND beer selection, pleasant staff and did I mention the desserts, oh my. If you didn't already know, don't miss Fork. From the plate of beets and goat cheese, delectable cured meats (my husband made me share because it was sooooo good), incredible pasta, fish and sticky toffee pudding - it was just heaven. We'll be back, and often. However you do this, whatever it takes, just please please please keep doing it!"

"Had been here for brunch a few times but this time, service was mediocre (waited too long for food)and table was too small for 5 people. We had reserved for 6 but 1 person canceled and I was honest; they scrambled to "make" a table for 5. Table was too small for 4, let alone 5. Food was just ok. Very disappointed this time overall."

"The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was pleasant, warm, and welcoming. The food arrived promptly, and for the most part was well worth the price paid and the occasion at hand. The service itself was somewhat stand-offish, unfortunately, but not to the point of being abrasive or detrimental to the overall experience. "After many years we were excited to try Fork again because of Chef Feury. We weren't disappointed. We arrived early and were greeted by friendly hostesses. We enjoyed waiting at the bar - the bartender even noticed my husband hadn't arrived from the valet and suggesting waiting for his drink so it would stay chilled. The food was perfect for a cold winter night - the charcuterie was yummy. The pork and duck were both tender. The waitress was fine with changing one of the sides. Only criticism is that the waitress was a little aloof - unlike the atmosphere. We would definately go back again."

"Food was on the whole very good. Lobster bisque was average at best. My biggest complaint was the extremely high price. We have had food as good or better at a much lower price.

"The service was very rushed. I am always amazed that on valentines day the service seems to be all about turning over tables rather than making the dining experience a memorable one. the food was good, but too hot to eat at first and did not taste made to order. Our server was very thoughtless when serving the wine--she brought the wine, 2 glasses, a bottle of water, and the checks for 2 tables all at once and put ALL of it on our table, uncorked the wine, didn't let us taste it and then picked up her other stuff and moved on."

"We went on Sunday after the snow. Sidewalks cleared no problem with entry. Granted there were not many people in the restaurant, but the service was wonderful. The next day, the restaurant called to see if one of my party had left a scarf. They are mailing it to the owner. Cannot complain. Would not hesitate to go there again. The other nice feature is a choice between a lite meal and the usual entrees."

"The entrance to the restaurant is hung with a set of heavy velvet curtains which serve to stop the cold blast of wintry air from the street following guests in as well as creating a sense of mystery; what awaits us on the other side of the curtain. We were pleased with our first glimpse of the inside, intimate cove seating at each streetside window, small tables along either side of the centrally located bar leading to a more spacious table arrangement at the rear. Before we finished gazing around, we were greeted warmly by a hostess who showed us to an elegantly prepared table. The menu is simple but broad, giving details on each item that heightened our anticipation. I was allowed to finish my aperifif. The food was simply superb."

"Fork never disappoints. The food was delicious (the gnocchi appetizer w/duck confit was absolutely fantastic... we literally wiped the bowl clean!). The wine list there is always nice and different than the selection elsewhere. The food & drinks are perfect for a special night out, but the service did seem to be hard to find as the night went on... Be sure to request a table away from the entrance if going on a cold night, though!"

"Great feeling restaurant. Bar was lively with solid bartenders. Menu was innovative and appealing. Especially loved the mushroom mousse appetizer and the Skate. We will definitely return. Want to make sure that you don't get seated at the two tops along the wall by the entrance...we didn't, but they would be very tight with a traffic squeeze going by. Well lit and the service was knowledgeable and friendly."

"We just celebrated our forty-first anniversary at Fork. It could not have been better. The food was first rate; the service was perfect, but not pretentious; the wine pairings for the tasting menu made us realize what an art wine pairing is!

If you want an excellent food experience, this is the place. One caveat - I was here with friends a few years ago on a Thursday night about 7:30 and the noise level was a bit high."

"I was especially impressed with how the staff handle our brunch for 2 that ended up as a 3 hour char session. "The only people in the restaurant that have any space are the two bartenders(who pretty much ignored us because we weren't regulars). Our food was very good (beet salad, lamb shoulder and lobster,scallop entrees. Our two desserts were tiny and one did not match the description on the menu. We both thought they forgot to bring one(they were served on one small plate). Our server was very nice and deserves combat pay for the conditions she has to work under. Not a pleasant experience."

"My partner and I arrived for brunch on a cold brisk winter day. We were escorted to our table and our coates checked. The table small and cozy. The overall atmosphere was a buzz and chilly. The ceiling was exposed piping, I felt like I was in a garage.
Our waiter arrived seemed inexperienced and nervous but ready to assist us with our meal. My partner ordered french toast, I ordered salmon. The dishes arrived cold. My salmon overcooked. I asked our waiter what did he suggest for a dessert he looked dumbfounded and answered they are all good. I ddidn't find that very helpful. We probably will not return."

"The restaurant was busy but not full on a Wednesday night. Our waitress took 20 minutes to make her first appearance. At the end of the meal she disappeared. "This is one of my favorite restaurants because the menu is innovative, and the food looks as good as it tastes. All the diners at my table agreed that the roasted mushrooms with a hazelnut and mushroom reduction was wonderful. The vegetarian at the table liked the roasted beet salad, and the true meat-eater said that the lamb shank was superb. The Fork is definitely not The Ritz in style or decor. Even though it isn't as luxe, service is warm and friendly, and The Fork still has it's own cozy, low-key style."

"Great food. I have been there many times and have never had a bad meal. It is usually crowded and you need a reservation. This past time we went on a very cold night. Every time the front door opened we got a blast of cold air. Try not to sit near the front on a cold day. "Our expereince did not match the praise it seems to be getting since Feury took over Maybe we ordered poorly. Maybe it was bad luck to be seated in a drafty window crammed against the waiting area. Maybe it was just an off night. Ho-hum appetizers - an average salad (but nice ricotta croquettes) and a bland potato soup with poached oysters floating randomly like rubbery croutons. The entrees were also disappointing - duck that could have been delicious was woefully soggy and served with woody parsnips, and scallops that were beautifully seared and sweet, but floating in a flavorless broth over a bed of limp vegetable shreds. The night was saved by delighful desserts. Terribly over priced for what hoped would be a special dinner."

"I've been to Fork before when it was considered good, but not great, but last night, Oh, my God! The striped bass was so delicious! Our new dining companion thought so, too. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Fork's chef, Terence Feury, was once a chef at one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Striped Bass, which is now sadly defunct. My entrée brought back such fond memories of my meals at Striped Bass, it was almost cry-worthy. For those of you who don't know what that means, it's like my highest praise for food. If food has never tasted so good it has made you cry, then you haven't lived. Even food critic Craig Laban gave Fork three out of four bells, which basically annoints it as one of the best restaurants in Philly."

"We went for brunch and it was very crowded and noisy. The food was good and the service very good. Our waitress helped guide us around town and was very attentive to the table. However, it was much too noisy for our tastes and on a very rainy day the tables near the door were very cold - only a curtain for a drape separated the restaurant tables and occupants from the outside corridor. They should invest in an interior door. We asked to be moved to a warmer table and were accomodated right away. Probably best to vistit at off hours to fully enjoy the atmosphere and good food."

"Fork is a wonderful restaurant for business lunches, as well as any other pleasant dining experience. I chose Fork for a one-on-one business lunch because I wanted to be able to have a conversation while eating good food. You can't do that at any of the Steven Starr restaurants which abound near my Old City office. Fork offers a wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, and the added value of being able to have a conversation with your dining partner. It is always a pleasure to dine at Fork!"

"We had Sunday Brunch. We came earlier than our reservation, as we were travelling and our plans changed. The hostess offered to accommodate us at the bar, which seemed reasonable. The bartender was clearly not interested in serving a family. The menu seemed quite limited, for a brunch menu. The food was tasty, and the quantity generous-but not outstanding, given the cost of the restaurant. It didn't really impress us, but we probably shouldn't have come early, or accepted bar seating. Nonetheless, we definitely felt as though coming as a family (our kids are teenagers-so didn't bother anyone) was clearly not what the bar staff was looking for. Several of the other servers we interacted with were friendly-but we wouldn't go back."

"While I might not go back for the ordinary crab-cake sandwich I had for lunch, I would definitely go back for the dessert sampler. I was sorry I didn't follow my instinct for the homemade papardelli or the risotto instead of taking the waiter's suggestion. The sampler was terrific!"

"Food was fine but staff seem frazzled by the filled to capacity nature of the restaurant on Friday, November 20th. Brought people from out of town and we were kept waiting for 45 minutes. Food is good but nothing is worth that kind of wait. Disappointed in how staff handled situation."

"What a wonderful find! We were visiting from TX and enjoyed Fork and Fork Etc each day of our trip. Food was delectable, healthy portions and very fresh ingredients. And ... finding quinoa salad while traveling is a first for our family!!! We will return. We even bought Ellen's new book to try recipes at home."
