Panta Rei has been a favorite neighborhood destination for over 7 years! We are located in the heart of North Beach and offer traditional Roman cuisine and a extensive wine list. A full bar and specialized cocktails are available. Our waitstaff is consistently friendly and knowledgeable and the atmostphere is lively and exciting.
"My experience with Panta Rei was excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had a coupon that I realized I couldn't use on Friday night, so the waiter brought a complimentary desert. The carpaccio was delicious and the salmon was cooked perfectly. All in all, a very positive experience and I will go back."

"I had high hopes based on reviews I hsd read. Appetizers were good but the sauces were over powering. It's good we got them on the side. My main tasted watered down The pesto had little flavor. My friend had the trio of pasta which was better. Bottom line favors were unbalanced and service was good. With all the restaurants in our fine city I won't be going back."

"Located in old US Restaurant space where Columbus and Stockton streets meet. Restaurant is small with LOTS of windows, so any seat in the house is great. All staff is very welcoming and friendly. Great place to get a good Italian meal!"

"We went for lunch on a Saturday, we got there just after they opened (they were still printing the menu for the day). We had a craving for pasta, and since it is harder to find good Italian in Southern CA - we indulged at lunch. We had a great seat by the window, there were also several table outside on the sidewalk. Overall it was good. My wife had the three pasta special. The ravioli (cream sauce) and farfel (pink sauce) were excellent. The gnocchi, less so. I had a spinach and sausage fettuccini with a cream sauce (overall, more cream/pink sauces that I would have expected). It was excellent. The bread was fresh baked and had a great texture and was fantastic with the olive oil. I'd like to go again in an evening."

"This was about my seventh time to Panta Rei, and it didn't disappoint once again! We had a party of four and all the food was fantastic (filet mignon, gnocchi, sea bass and veal), as well as the dessert of tiramisu!"

"Great meal. Very authentic. Lively wait staff. Had the gnocchi with shrimp in a pesto sauce and it was fabulous. Our waiter was crazy running back and forth from table to table. He was a real Italian too! My son had fun talking to him in Italian. Highly recommend this place."

"We were going to a 9:45 show at Cobb's Comedy Club and wanted to find a reasonably priced but good restaurant in the area. Panta Rei was a great find! Food was amazing. The Linguine Neri was one of the best pasta & seafood dishes I have ever had. The raviolis that others had were equally good. They have a very reasonably priced wine list of mostly Italian wines. Tiramisu for desert was a winner. 4 people for dinner with splitting an appetizer and a desert, four pasta dishes,a side of asparagus,a bottle of wine and an espresso with sambuca for about $150 including tip! I'd go back here in a heartbeat. I wish it were closer to Pleasanton; I'd eat there weekly! You can't go wrong here and as a Native New Yorker I'm picky about Italian."

"I highly recommend Panta Rei. All 3 in our group were very satisfied with everything. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The bar is beautiful and the table views are to the street which is always entertaining! Reasonably priced too."

"We were there early (6:30ish) and it was very quiet which changes the ambiance. I've dined there before at a later hour (8ish) and it was packed and a great vibe. Food is wonderful and the servers are great guys! Black ink squid pasta is fantastic."

"We tried two handmade pasta's: the pesto tagolini and the ravioli with porcini and portabello. Both dishes had great balance of flavors and the pasta's tasted homemade and perfectly coooked. We also had the lamb shank which was perfectly cooked and delicious. The carpaccio was good but next time I will ask for no capers or roasted bell peppers. The beef used for the carpaccio was delicious on its own with oil, black pepper and parm. Great tiramisu and espresso. Our waiter was great!!! The dishes are not innovative or especially creative but they are solidly great. I felt like someone's energetic Italian grandmother was overseeing the dishes."

"Selected restaurant based on its location and previous reviews. Location was very convenient to local entertainment, but we found both food & service to be mediocre. Perhaps because it was Saturday night...."

"This was my third time to Panta Rei and I'm still not disappointed. Service is always friendly and attentive, food is outstanding. I took guests from out of town, from the East Coast and they know Italina food, and they loved it! $3 bellinis during happy hour! Try the black polenta appetizer - very different and delicious!"

"I went to a weekend theater matinee with my friends and couldn't find any decent restaurant serving food at 4 p.m. on Sunday -- until Panta Rei! The food was fab and the service especially attentive without being intrusive. We will be back!"
