Whether it's an intimate dinner, a casual evening, or a special occasion, Verve strives to make it a memorable experience.
"Verve is a pleasant surprise in downtown Somerville. Although the menu is somewhat limited, the selections are diverse. On my last visit, I had two of the specials, green tomato gazpacho and sautéed bronzini. Neither disappointed. My date had the Caesar salad and chicken roulade. We also had the creme brûlée. Verve is worth the visit."

"My family dined at Verve for Mothers Day Brunch. The food was delicious and the service was good. It is a nice restaurant and I welcomed the opportunity to dine someplace other than the typical chain restaurants in the area."

"Verve is always a terrific night out. The food is the highlight with this place. Always on or above par with many top-notch New York restaurants---we've never had a bad meal. Atmosphere is moderate in the dining room and the bar area is more lively. We certainly be coming back."

"Restaurant was more than expected (great!), food was excellent, and service was great. A little more noise than I wanted for group dinner / conversation; maybe will use the downstairs dining next time. Satisfied."

"Where to start. The restaurant chose to substitute side dishes at their whim without asking. Ordered tuna main course the portion would have been unacceptable as an appetizer let alone a main course. Three tiny pieces for $30! If they can get away with it they will, we chose to walk out. Be aware. Horrible experience. Will not return nor recommend. Big disappointment. Shame on them."

"Shame on us for trying this a second time after trying New Year's and getting a price switch AFTER we were there.
The tables are too close, the acoustics stink - we couldn't hear each other across a small table for 4. The service was pathetically slow - the waiter kept coming back to advise us "it's coming" - what...The end of the world? I think that was sooner! This was not only the kitchen but the bar - I guess we were still waiting for the wine to ferment.
My friend asked for half her meal to go - we waited and waited. But "it was coming" - the waiter rolled his eyes AT US in impatience that we had the nerve to keep asking.
Guess what? It didn't come - it was lost! Guess what - we're not coming back either!"

"I've been here twice. The first time for appetizers and drinks, and the second time there were 5 of us for dinner and drinks. I really like this place. The food is very good, but the drinks are excellent. The place is not cheap, but I really like the mood in there - there's something just cool about it. The two bartenders I've seen in there - the younger thin tatooed guy, and especially the middle-aged glasses guy are two very cool cats that make excellent drinks. I really like the place."

"Wonderful atmosphere. The bar is separated from the dining area and both areas are wonderful. Very nice for special occasions. Food was wonderful; cooked to perfection. Well worth the price."

"The food was delicious. Uncomplicated American/French fare, but very well done. A little on the higher price end, but definitely worth it. Great selection of craft beers. The upstairs lounge area is very intimate, candlelit, and great for after dinner drinks if you're looking to be somewhere more quiet.Only complaint is that the drink prices were high. I did appreciate the small selection of good wines though."

"This was our second venture to Verve. The first was outstanding-the second not as great. To start, we brought a bottle of wine. The waiter indicated there was no problem and that he would charge us a small corking fee. Next, the waiter told us of the specials. I ordered one that sounded tasty. Unfortunately, I was initially quoted the incorrect price. I ended up choosing a less costly entree. The appetizers (clams) were outstanding. My entree (duck) seemed undercooked and wasn't that tasty. My wife's tuna had fat lines throughout which she didn't recall having on our first trip. When the check came we were shocked to see a $15 corking fee. I questioned it and eventually the manager reduced it to $7. We may visit again."

"we came there to see the band dark city strings my son was the banjo player, enjoyed them and also enjoyed your restuarant. and i am glad we did. my husband had the steak and said it was ok it was a little fatty really not worth the price, but i had roast chicken and it was good, i am a very picky eater and have food restrictions and our waitress was very good and tried to accomodate me but i settled on the roast chicken, you should add a grilled chicken dish to the menu, that would have made my day."

"We had a delicious dinner on Saturday night. We went early, so it was quiet when we arrived, but by the time we left there was a lively bar scene upstairs. The food was great. Steak was cooked right the first time,..amazing. My husband had two items from the Mardi Gras menu and he enjoyed them both very much. Our only regret was that we were too full for dessert!"

"Saturday Night at prime time is very noisy at Verve. Food is good, however, the waiter made several errors on the orders. The menu is very limited and there were only 2 specials outside of the regular menu. I would recommend but would be sure to let people know of the noise level and the limited menu."

"Verve always changes up the menu each week and the choices are never a miss. Each entree is cooked to perfection and the service is just as good. They have a nice variety of wines and the specialty cocktails are wonderful."

"Creative dishes but limited menu. Very good house wine. Nice selection of specials. All four of our meals were very good. Conversation was sometimes difficult due to noise level but overall a positive experience."

"This was our first time at Verve. We went because we had received a gift certificate for Christmas. There was a lively crowd in the bar on the main level. The menu is limited. I ordered one of the specials, which was a venison dish prepared like osso buco. It was served with faro, mushrooms and broccoli rabe. It was very good. My husband ordered a steak, which was served with a choice of a sauce on the side, but no other accompaniments. The sides were extra and there was nothing that he liked. The pear salad was very good. The mushroom soup was tasteless. The dessert, bread pudding was nothing special. For the price, the value is not there. We'll go elsewhere for a $165 dinner."
