Sixteen
Located on the 16th floor of Trump International Hotel & Tower, the signature Michelin-rated Sixteen offers panoramic views of the Chicago skyline. Diners will delight in Chef Lents’ innovative dinner menus that showcase the highest quality ingredients in the world. Since his appointment, Chef Lents has introduced exciting new programming at Sixteen and features a thoughtful approach to progressive, French-inspired American cuisine. Chef Lents brings more than two decades of experience, most recently as the chef de cuisine of the three Michelin star-rated Joel Robuchon.
Our current 8 course menus, celebrate the season and explore three different environments of spring; the Stream, Field, and Pasture. Our extended menu is available to those interested in a lengthier experience and will enjoy items from all three environments. Additionally, an abbreviated 4 course menu is available. Upon request, an a la carte menu is offered.

"16 is located in Trump Hotel. Like all things Trump, it is pricey and is sometimes better known for the hype than the execution. However 16 was an excellent experience. Innovative and tasty menu, impeccable service, and beautiful view. We'll go back when we have an opportunity."

"Incredible ambiance, views and decor. Food was excellent, creative, but a little minimalist....you can leave hungry after 8 courses. Diners choose themes for the set of courses: stream, prarie, and pasture. These seemed vague to me, but there was a sampling to help make the decision. However the sample did not reflect many of the courses. We did the wine pairings, but with our "prairie" selection there was no red wine for any course. There were generous pours for the wines which perhaps made up for the lack of food. The service was outstanding, but a little "Trumpy" (overeager to please). This was a fun and creative experience, but would advise that people who are hungry and want to know what they are eating try somewhere else."

"The tasting menu at Sixteen tries to be an Alinea or a Tru, but fails. The presentation is interesting, but not as imaginative as the two afore mentioned restaurants, and the preparation isn't even in the same league. The only thing comparable -- unfortunately -- is the price. Two of the selections in the wine flight just did not work with the food and a third was marginal. i don't care if I ever have sparkling saki again. All in all, I see no reason to return."

"WOW. Window seating with a great view. Chose Stream 8-course with wine. Nothing but superb food and stimulating pairings (all but one wine were off the beaten track wines, so I learned a lot). Creative dishes that are a feast to eat and admire. Service was courteous and friendly and very well paced - don't go unless you're there to be emersed in a couple of hours of enjoyment."

"Unpleasently surprised to find upon being seated that our only dinner option was $150 8 course tasting menu. Three different tasting menus but everyone at the table had to select the same one. The food was interesting, and some of it was very good, but way too much emphasis on presentation and not enuough on substance, quantity and quality. I was entertaining a client who was not impressed."

"Sixteen delivered an outstanding experience from all perspectives. It's creative and surprising tasting menu was delightful and rich in flavor. The view of the Wrigley building is stunning. The lighting and chandelier create a romantic yet accessible atmosphere for even a family. They offer a kids menu, which was fantastic so we could include my younger daughter in the celebration. The staff is knowledgable, yet friendly and down to earth. The spring menu (meat version) is fantastic, with wonderful dishes using veal and a variety of spring vegetables. These veggies are not your mother's canned green beens. They are fresh and unexpected in flavor and consistency. The presentation is gorgeous and innovative."

"We dined at Sixteen for our anniversary. The meal (the twelve-course extended menu) was very good, but not quite up to Alinea standards (which I would expect for $210 a person!). I also was disappointed that the restaurant did not acknowledge our anniversary, even though they were told in advance that was why we were dining there."

"We waited 1/2hr for our reserved table. (I know, it was Easter! but we have a three year old.) We were not offered the while-you-wait complimentary beverage like previous years. Not cool.) The hostesses were frazzled and commiserating at podium...Unattractive not to mention unprofessional!
There was not enough *water* service -for a buffet that was self-serve -all the waiter had to do was keep water full & serve beverages.
We've been to Sixteen before and the standard of service has declined. We felt like we were not a priority...the whole experience left me wanting. Over-priced for the poor service-even considering the spectacular view.

"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 8-course spring "field" menu with wine pairings. We had a great view, impeccable service and wonderful flavors to savor throughout the night. My wife "normally" drinks only red wine, but the "field" menu (one of three that you can choose from) has been paired exclusively with white wines. Both she and I were thoroughly impressed with the excellent wines that were chosen, from France to Italy, to Germany to Austria; we loved them all!
The 8-course meal itself has many different combinations of fresh flavors that continuously amazed us.

"We had not been to Sixteen for a year and it was excellent on our last visit. This visit was Outstanding. We had the eight course fixed price menu and all the members of our party could do nothing but rave how good everything was. We picked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and Sixteen made it a memorable occasion. The Service Staff makes the experience and environment very inviting and comfortable. We were told the menu is changing soon with the season. I cannot wait to return."

"My wife and I ordered the eight course menu last night and added the cheese course. We are frequent fine diners and this was one of our best meals in the past couple of years. Every course was great with four really being memorable and having a "wow" factor. Service was nearly flawless; Sixteen is a venue where they have the perfect blend of highly polished yet extremely personable servers. With all the extras (trilogy of amuse bouches, ample bread service, a palate cleanser and an impressive mignardises cart) this was a true feast. Chef Lents and the team at Sixteen are now starting to fire on all cylinders and at this point I feel are deserving of an additional Michelin star. I am already eagerly anticipating the spring menu!"

"Gorgeous restaurant with incredible views. Service was perfect and fun. This is a tasting menu only with no options so is a bit restrictive. Wine pairings were expensive and, frankly, not worth it. The additional price cheese course had less than an ounce of cheese. Okay to do once--but that's it."

"I don't care for the menu at Sixteen. I wanted a choice of meat, fish, chicken with a great salad. This particular night, I wanted to take my friend for a steak or fish dinner. Being forced into a 4, 8 or 16 course dinner, $100/$150//$250 is not my idea of a wonderful dinner.
I was not impressed and will not go back till I see a full menu of choices. PS lunch is the same issue. Twice in one week was a mistake."

"Chef Lenz, has taken a good idea for foodies and tried to apply it to lunch.Bad idea. The courses were over the top in complication to the point of inedible.Tuna Tartar, does not a sausage make. The Guinea Fowl in a reduced sause, was so reduced as to taste only of salt. Not to mention the price of an 8oz coke, $2.50, and lastly a cappucino with an extra shot of esspresso $11.00. Who are you kidding?No one asked after two bites, if any thing was wrong."

"Three of us had lunch at Sixteen. My wife and I have been there two times before, with an entirely different menu, and enjoyed it. Sadly, this will be our last visit. The food was all presentation, with very little taste, and very small portions. What a disappointment. I can see why there were not many customers at the time."

"Upon arrival it looked as if the restaurant was closed for business All of the tables were bare, no place settings or candles, and the lighting was garishly bright. I suppose this is the chef's way of highlighting his food only, but the ambiance is zero! We requested a table on the window because it was a bit dimmer and in that way we could enjoy the most beautiful view Chicago has to offer. The bright restaurant lighting completely eliminates the view! The food was beyond belief, and the presentations remarkable, however I could not be distracted from the bare tables and complete lack of ambiance magnified by the bright lighting. The chef is noteworthy, but we will not return to this restaurant until it is as beautiful as the food!"

"The presentation of the food is amazing. The taste/flavor of the food is great. The portions however, are very small. Many of the courses leave you wanting more (a lot more). Sixteen will tell you "it's all about the experience, not the quantity". Sixteen’s menus are based on seasonal themes, the night we when it was based on a “Winter’s Day”. Our waiter did a great job introducing us to the menu and setting the stage for what was to come. We had the 8 course tasting menu coupled with the wine tasting. Bottom line, go for a special occasion, this might be a once in a lifetime visit, because the check/bill was HUGH."

"Wow, the tasting menu I had at Sixteen is easily the best meal I've had all year so far. I think Sixteen is the best restaurant in Chicago right now. I had the 8-course tasting with a caviar and cheese supplement. Every course was outstanding, but what was most memorable was how Chef Lents wove a story of a winter's day through food. I also enjoyed how spoiled guests are with extras, from several canapes (glazed and roasted chestnuts, mince meat pie, apple cider) to start the meal, to the best mignardise cart in town. And when you are stuffed and on your way out, you are treated to a take-home pastry. The view across the Chicago River is unrivaled and service was impeccable as well."

"As a budding foodie I reluctantly chose sixteen despite my general lack of care for the owner Mr. Trump but I'm glad I did, the ambiance was excellent, the food exquisite and the view breathtaking. I think I made the best choice for a restaurant on v-day and I'm sure my girlfriend agreed. Despite this being the most expensive dinner I've ever eaten at $600 I would recommend it to anyone that's willing. It truly is an amazing dining experience."

"The food was too fancy and to bizarre. I was like a taping of Fear Factor. When the servers explained what was being served, it was pronounced in a foreign language or some bizarre word that I have never heard. Just speak english as I don't know what the latin or french name is. By the way, I am far from a restaurant nube. I have eaten in Paris, Rome, Moscow, London, Tokyo, etc. Mostly a Four Seasons/Mandarin Oriental customer. I travel by private Jet 99% of the time so I am not a Country Bumkin when it comes to food and this was the worst high end dining experience I have ever had. The best part of the meal was the $660 bottle of 96 Opus one. We went to Gibson's for dinner right after we left Sixteen as we needed some real food."

"This was our second visit to Sixteen. We had the fall tasting menu in November. Another truly outstanding dining experience. The service of the entire staff was impeccable but not stuffy, particularly, the dining room captain, Sam. We ordered the 16 course tasting and one of us had the wine pairing. Our evening lasted over 4 hours. The dining room is elegant and understated. This allows your entire focus to be on the stunning presentation of each course, and the food tastes as good as it looks. We have dined at Alinea twice before and really enjoyed it. However, we feel that Sixteen is just as good, and literally at half the price. We also loved the dessert cart that is rolled out with the mini-ferris wheel of treats at the end."
