"Marigold is a wonderful spot to experience the flavors of Indian cuisine in an attractive setting. The menu offers Indian inflected Western-style dishes as well as traditional Indian dishes. Either way, the food is expertly seasoned and presented. The staff are friendly and conscientious. And the imaginative cocktail selection and good (if small) wine selection make Marigold a great choice when you crave the flavors of Devon Avenue but want something a little swankier."

"Food was fantastic but what really made the evening was our server. Will. He was so attentive and offered suggestions. He was such a DOLL! My only issue with Marigold was the lighting. Maybe I'm just getting old but it was too dim where we sat. But that aside we had a wonderful dinner. Cooked to perfetion. And those Papadum chips?? OMG, I wish they packaged these for resale. Best I've ever had!"

"I found Marigold to be cheap with their naan and rice. 1 piece of naan and a cup of rice per person... when you order the seafood curry and it's hot, the portions of naan and rice are not sufficient to help cut the heat."

"Overall, Marigold was pretty good. Nothing special or exceptional. While the ambiance/decor is of much higher scale than your typical Indian restaurant, the food was...ok. Couple that with the fact that the prices are much more expensive than your typical mom and pop Indian establishment and it's hard to really recommend. In my book, it was good to go once and try it but I'll stick to Devon for better food at lower prices."

"This is a great restaurant to take people uninitiated in Indian food. It's a modern twist on Indian favorites and created to please an American pallet. The Samosa were wonderful- moist and flaky- as was the Dahl Soup. Everything was "good spicy" but I found the curries/side dishes to be TOO SWEET which ruined them for me. As an example, the Saag Paneer was made with coconut milk and came up tasting like Thai food instead of the savory Indian dish I was craving. The real show stopper of the evening were the cocktails esp. the Spiked Mango Lassi which is a cardamom infused must try!"

"I felt that we did not get our money's worth in Marigold.The table did not have any intimacy, the service was average to poor, not that friendly, and the food, the reason why onegoes out to eat :) was handed out in small dishes, small por-tions and expensive.for example 6 shrimp on a bed of rice: $18.it is not our cup of cake."

"The vibe was upbeat when we arrived. We had a great four top table across from the bar. Our waiter was enthusiastic and was well informed about the food. The food was delicious but the naan was good. It looked good. It was large, warm and plentiful, but it was hard. Didn't taste like naan. The entire table agreed. I would go back for the food, but would suggest to change the recipe or distributor for the naan."

"Food seemed hotter than on our previous visits. The naan, chicken tikka appetizer, and duck dum were particularly good. The samosas were greasless and tasty, but the accompaning chutneys were very hot, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. The onion-date chutney had lots of pepper seeds and flecks of hot, red pepper. The spinach salad was OK, but could have used something besides the spinach and cheese. If you like super-hot foods, you'll be happy here. It's a pretty place and service is knowledgeable and conscientious."

"I love, love, love, love, love this restaurant. The food is delicious. The Tandoori chicken and shrimp are both divine. It's a great thing that the food is so light because you definitely need to save room for the Kama Sutra cake. It's some of the best cake I've ever had.

The amibance is fantastic and the wait staff is great! I would take anyone here for any reason. It's fantastic!"

"When i entered the restaurant i was immediately greeted and seated.I was enchanted by the decor and the warm bright colors. I loved the way they treated us.As a salon owner i know how first impresions and outstanding customer service is very important. "The food at Marigold was beyond expectation. Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable, he suggested an excellent and moderately priced wine to accompany our meal. We have the "Taste of Marigold" to start and it was a great kick off to our meal. We had a group of four and everyone enjoyed their entrees. The ambiance is very relaxed and yet romantic. Not at all stuffy. It was an excellent gourmet Indian dinner without the shock of a outrageous bill at the end. We left very happy and will be returning often."

"Perfect for me, with sensitive digestion. I was able to enjoy a gluten-free, dairy-free, processed-meat-free and mostly nightshade-free meal that was delicious and satisfying. It's been months since I last enjoyed a restaurant that left me full, but NOT in considerable pain. The restaurant scene has become a minefield for me, but Marigold was safe. I enjoyed the mussels molee, the kalonji chicken and the papadum chips. Yay, papadum chips! They contain neither wheat nor corn nor grain flour at all."

"I enjoyed the experience over all - however felt that the food could have been a bit spicier. I tend to lean towards more bland foods in general - however these dishes could have had a bit more flavor to them. Over all the food was excellent, the presentation was beautiful, the meat was tender, all the ingredients were fresh, the waitstaff was extraordinary and the decor was very well orchestrated. "The food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. The menu is somewhat limited, but both vegetarian and non-vegetarians have plenty to eat. Every dish I had was great. Beware if you don't like spicy food - this food (although not to hottest I've ever had) is spicy for those who are sensitive to it. I do think the portions are small for the price. Case in point, basmati rice (served prettily) was 1.75 for a side order - and we needed more than 1. I saw some families with young kids - not overwhelmingly so, but clearly they were welcome there. We had a great time."

"Marigold was a solid C - the flavors were great on our lamb vindaloo - very spicy and rich- and the naan was decent. The chicken over almond-raisin basmati rice was beautifully presented, and the chicken itself was really moist. However, the vegetarian curried "meatball" dish was forgettable, not so much in texture or look but the sauce was reminiscent of a tv dinner. The service was friendly and pretty fast. The decor was warm and inviting. Try this place once, and decide for yourself if its worth going back."

"We spent our first Valentine's Day at this restaurant, then our second, and then I introduced my dad to my now-husband here, and we just made it our Christmas gift to each other just before a show in the theater district, on our first Christmas as married folks. "I have heard of Marigold in the past, but it wasn't until I saw it on Groupon that I decided to check it out. I took my parents and husband there on Wednesday to try it and we were all really impressed! The flavors were excellent, the food was delicious, and what ALWAYS makes me return to a restaurant (because there are many in Chicago w/ good food closer to downtown) was our outstanding service. Our waiter is what every restaurant owner should strive to hire, it was because of him making our evening enjoyable that Marigold will stick out in my mind when I think of best Indian restaurant in town, and it will become worth the drive to head up there. Plus, you have the Green Mill Jazz club two doors down, a great place to head over afterwards"

"Marigold was definitely a mixed bag dining experience. The food was sort of Americanized Indian Fusion that varied from fairly authentic to edging into Italian territory. Our samosas were, if anything, spicier than in your average Indian establishment and the lentil daal soup was authentic, if a little dressed up. My salad, however, was almost completely imagined: frisee mixed with pistachios, figs, and a dressing with a side of baked Greek yogurt, according to our server. Our entrees were the most confusing. My malai kofta was more like potato balls in marinara sauce and my partner's saag paneer was more like regular creamed spinach with cheese chunks. Everything was good, just not what we'd anticipated from a north side Indian restaurant."

"Food here was adequate,although nothing special,and quite overpriced for anything less than "special". We spent two very long hours at this restaurant. We tried to order additional food (could not get our server to respond), decided to give up and save our appetites for dessert, but after waiting 20 minutes for a dessert menu, we gave up on that as well. Given the small servings, hefty prices,and inability to make connections with a server, I would recommend Marigold for well-healed dieters. Otherwise,skip it."

"I chose Marigold for a birthday dinner with a group of people with different tastes in food and dietary needs (vegetarian, diabetic). What a success! Marigold had something for everyone. As the vegetarian, I didn't try the meats, but I was told the lamb and chicken dishes were delicious. The Vegetarian Thali was also a dish I would order again and again. A fun atmosphere and an attentive server (who untold figured out it was my birthday and brought over a slice of cake with a candle) were icing on the cake. "The food was mediocre at best and suggested that it had been reheated. The samosas were so dry that when we tried to cut into them, they flew off our plates, and the Naan was hard - almost crunchy. It should be pliable, and soft, yet firm. The lamb vindaloo sauce was spicy yet also was sweet and I didn't understand the sweet part at all. I would not go back. Also, we ordered the lamb vindaloo and were served lamb shank vindaloo until we corrected our waiter. There are 2 nearly identical dishes on the menu. Be careful."

"We were there for the anniversary prix fixe specials which were very good. My only complaint about the meal was that the portions were really large and the eggplant dish on the entree was not what I'd expected. The corn on the vegetarian plate made me look forward to next summer and trying to replicate it at home. "The food was excellent, but the service was mediocre. It took a long time for anyone to take our order, bring our drinks & appetizers, and between courses. After they had run my credit card I noticed that the bar tab hadn't been added in. We had only ordered a beer and a house wine at the bar, so I half expected them to tell us not to worry about it, but I wanted to be honest. Instead they made me void the original transaction and rerun my credit card and didn't even discount the drinks for our trouble. We asked for all of the leftovers to be wrapped, but were really looking forward to having one particular outstanding dish for lunch the next day. But when we opened them it was missing, as was the rice. But the soggy naan was there...huh?"

"While this restaurant is in my neighborhood and has a lovely atmosphere, it was definitely not worth the price for Indian food when 3 miles away you can eat on Devon. I left wishing I could have had my $80 back for 1 drink, 2 apps and 2 entrees."
