Cantina 1511-East Blvd
Back in 2004 Cantina 1511 opened its doors on EAST Blvd Charlotte NC with the promise to serve the good souls of Charlotte with consistently outstanding Mexican fare. In a world where promises are often made but seldom delivered, this was the exception. The food and service were excellent and more surprisingly; consistent. As the years passed the standards of food and service have improved largely through our genuine commitment to excellence in hospitality.
Cantina 1511 continues to “Bring more to the table than good food” as we expand our vision. Not only to continue our endeavours to live up to that original promise but also to elevating our ideals in the procurement of our produce, creativity in its preparation and in service to our guests, our community and beyond.

"My husband and I used to love Cantina 1511; we were eager to try Patrick's new menus so we finally had the chance to go back. As soon as I saw the wine list I told my husband that Patrick must be gone, and I was right. With him gone and the new owners/management in, seem to have some a number of unwelcome changes. Basically I would say the quality and presentation of the food has been downgraded. This restaurant used to have innovative, imaginative and delicious cuisine that departed from the typical humdrum Tex-Mex, now it's much closer to that in quailty and presentation-now mundane. And the wine list is also now fairly pedestrian. Items on the website that looked terrific weren't on the menu. I doubt we'll go back."

"We've been to Cantina many times, and really liked it prior to the change in ownership last year. Since then, it has been hit-or-miss. This past Saturday was a decided miss. They basically got everything wrong, from our drinks to never bringing the appetizer to bringing the wrong car to us at the end of the night. But by far the strangest part of the night was walking in, being told to follow someone who appeared to be a manager to our table, having him change his mind without seating us, tell us to wait there (standing in the middle of the restaurant) and that he'd be right back. He walked away and we never saw him again. We had to go back to the hostess and tell her we still needed a table."

"The restaurant was able to accommodate my request for an area for my girlfriends and I to enjoy conversation together. I love that they have a little separate room available for that. "My family loves this restaurant and have been there many here many times. My sister and brother-in-law made a special trip from Cary, NC to go there last Friday night. Our table was located near the bar and was so loud that none of us could hear one another. Since they had come in from out of town, we were looking forward to catching up on what was going on with each other. The manager very kindly moved us to another section which was slightly less noisy (but still loud conversations and music). This was a first in encountering this degree of noise - perhaps it was because of TGIF! Thanks."

"The food was excellent. We went on a Saturday at dinner time and it was packed. You can tell its very popular. I would recommend making a reservation if possible. We did ours through Open Table and it was so easy. They took us right back when we got there. The cheese pot and the blood orange margaritas were amazing!!!"

"This place is definitely one of the top Mexican restaurants in Charlotte. The food is always fantastic (and in large portions), and the service is wonderful. It's a little on the high end of the price scale, but you certainly get what you pay for. The also make some of the best margaritas in town, with an extensive tequila list."

"We made reservations for 8PM on 2/15 to celebrate my husbands birthday. Unfortunately the table they had planned for us to use for our party of 7 was not available on time. When we approached the manager around 8:30PM to inquire, he immediately looked for an alternative solution. They were able to seat us at a temporary table until ours was ready. They went above and beyond to offer a free appetizer plate as well. The food was fabulous and the service was great. We will definitely return!"

"Overall the food was good. It was the overall service and attention to detail that is my biggest complaint. My server & all the other serves appeared to be more concerned about cleaning up & leaving then attending to us. Examples: I ordered fajita and they bring u out 3 to start out with, I didn't get a refill until I had picked over all my food towards the end. No one came by to give us refills of our drinks unless I asked & it took me getting up & finding my waiter in order to get the check & additional to go container.

"First time we ate at Cantina 1511 on East Blvd. The food was fantastic but the service was better. Our server was Nicole and she was amazing. From giving us suggestions since it was our first visit to a cadence of checking on us throughout the night. It was a perfect balance of meeting our needs and not seemingly always checking. I would suggest this place for anyone who wants a more authentic Mexican meal and if you get Nicole a service experience that will bring you back.

"First time here...enjoyable.
Our server, Jamal, was the best - attentive, efficient, personable.
The table side guacamole is the best.
The Restaurant Week options were so filling that I couldn't finish my soup or entree, but I did finish my delicious bananas foster chimichanga.
Others in my party had fajitas and the burrito. They loved theirs as well.
Dragonberry cocktail was good, but loved our pitcher of sangria.
The manager, Phillip, greeted us and chatted...very personable and hilarious."

"Mexican was requested and Cantina 1511 fit the bill! Allison, our waitress, was very helpful in making suggestions that we both enjoyed. We also appreciated that Cantina will "customize" your order, tweeking it to suit your wishes. A very enjoyable experience."
