The Highwood Dining Room
The School of Hospitality and Tourism at SAIT Polytechnic proudly presents the Highwood Dining Room, a tastefully appointed restaurant that allows our students to provide world class cuisine and service in a live classroom environment. Under the expert guidance of our innovative Chefs and Hospitality Management instructors, your experience will be one to remember.
Our menus feature fresh and local products. Our Chefs are now designing Celiac friendly menus! Whether it's an a`la carte lunch of daily features or our five course dinner, the Highwood provides a unique experience for both guests and students. We would be delighted to be your host. Thank you for supporting our live classroom the Highwood Dining Room. Our dining room is closed on weekends and holidays. Bookings for September 5 to October 31 will commence July 9. We look forward to seeing you in the fall of 2013.

"The service, as expected, is not perfect as these are new students. This fact however, I find make us all a little more kind and tolerant. The food: both presentation and flavour is always exceptional. The opportunity to sit and enjoy (about 2 hrs)while the students serve up their skill is truly a treat. I WILL be back soon"

"I would suggest when host is sitting people to tell about drink specials once you are seated not while walking very hard to focus on whats being said.
I would also suggest having fruit at the dessert bar of some sort for people who dont eat dessert. The cherry jubilee should of been warmer.
The host was very friendly and our waitress was good also our drink girl was very good.
The restaurant space should be updated some, it has been the same atmosphere for ever and getting outdated.

"I would recommend the Highwood for a special occasion as you get a lovely 5 course dinner for $45/person. The dinning room is spacious and fairly quiet, the service is good and the food is terrific. There is a nice selection for each course and the students do a wonderful job of presenting the food on your plate. "This was an excellent dining experience for a special birthday. The five course meal was incredible with lots of choice and beautifully presented at a five star level. The SAIT students truly outdid themselves. My wife, daughter and I truly enjoyed ourselves and were quite stuffed by the end of the evening. The staff help me celebrate a birthday with special cake and sparker and song. Much appreciated. Used to take my staff for lunch here and truly have many fond memories of the dining experience. If anything the food is better at it was always great."

"Our two servers was top notch indeed! The waiter (Graham?) was very friendly and attentive, and our drinks person (I can't remember her name but she was an older lady) was also very friendly and attentive. A top not team! I hope they receive A+ grades for their performance - they deserve it!
The food was FABULOUS with one exception. I found the cheesecake to be dry, almost like a sponge cake. Not cheesy or gooey enough. That's my only complaint.

"We had a problem parking. The parkade said it was full on all levels. I went up to the dining room and was told we could press the help button at the toll booth in L3 of the parkade and mention that we were going to the Highwood and they would let us in. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time and not have to run around worrying where we could park. Otherwise the experience was very good."

"Very comfortable and great food. Tables are nicely spaced so you don't have to talk over your neighbours. Students/staff strive to provide a great experience which they do very well. Reserve well in advance as they can book up early especially on special occasions."

"Overall delicious & a great deal. Friends enjoyed the beef wellington, fish, lamb dishes. However, all 3 striploin steaks were overdone (medium rare came out medium) but the braised shoulder was tender & flavorful. While equally tasty, the baby spinach salad was considerably bigger than the beet salad. The raspberry gelato was the perfect palate cleanser. The crantini was a bit off. Coffee ice cream was tasty but the deconstructed Black Forest cake was a bit dry."

"I very much enjoyed my dining experience at the Highwood. It's hard to find a properly planned and executed five course meal. My meal was not plumped up with a lot of fats and salts and the servings were very appropriate. Some etiquette points were missed by this group of 1st year students; my white wine tasted just a good in the red wine glass!This restaurant has large wooden pillars and sitting next is more private; suggest if one enjoys the more social dining experience, then to request a window or open section.Lovely ambience, casual business or get-dressed-to-go-out-for-dinner restaurant."

"This was our first time attending dinner at Highwood, we will go again!
The five course meal was good, many components were excellent and some need a little more work, nothing was BAD...this is a learning/school environment and that is what you should expect! We loved our table by the window with a wonderful view!!
We are going to try the Thursday buffet next ~~ we were lucky enough to get a reservation and are excited about trying another element of the Highwood restaurant!"
