"My husband and I went for our third wedding anniversary & were sufficiently stuffed! We started w/turnip soup (tasty, mild alternative to gooey french onion), and the escargot (good, but wish they were still in shells). For entrees we ordered the vegetable crepes (imaginative flavor combinations, fantastic) & the new york strip (superb). TIP: upgrade your fries to "truffle" fries & ask for them extra crispy, you won't be sorry, it "makes" them! Very accommodating staff, I called ahead, picked out a good Nebbiolo bottle of red wine and had them open it for us prior to our arrival so it could breathe. Our waitress checked on us frequently and we even got a free dessert and free soup shooter from the chef. Very sweet and satisfying evening."

"Wow. What a fantastic meal! My friend and I went to Poste with her 2 kids (9 and 4) and we had such a fantastic brunch. We were starving so we ordered the bourbon-glazed doughnuts cooked in duck fat to start along with our coffee. These little gems were so buttery and crisp... and that glaze? Oh. My. Lawd! So good. We (adults) ordered the 2 different "croque" sanwiches (and I can't spell French words, so my stab at it is "mousier and madame"), which were huge and delicious. We ended up later ordering the truffled french fries for the kids, which were ridiculously tasty. Bottomless mimosas are $16, which was a fun treat. I definitely recommend Poste. Service was perfect and the chefs were cute. Thumbs up all around for me."

"Clam chowder was superb. The rest of the food was bad and overpriced. Way better value and food at Mon Ami Gabi which is a chain. Bar is cool and lots of cocktail choices, but its just expensive and not that good. We are used to high priced meals but the quality did not rate."

"Was surprised at the mediocre service at my early lunch date. Lukewarm water served to us and not refilled. The Poste lunch special which is a nice deal - soup , sandwich and a cookie to go - was ok- the sandwich and the small side salad next to it- both had a very strong horseradish condiment - to the point where it would burn up through your nose - multiple times while eating the lunch. A bit overpowering to be in both items on the plate. For a $20 lunch- I do expect more than the ordinary.....so I won't be heading back there again."

"We had dinner at Poste before going to the theater. We were very pleased that the restaurant had noted our plans (thanks to Open Table) and made every effort to provide us with an anxiety free dinner. The Pre-Theater Menu was fantastic featuring the Beef bourguignon, which is their signature dish, as the entrée. The beef was very tender and had a rich and delicious sauce. The dinner also included a very good salad and choice of dessert. We chose the homemade ice cream which was perfect. The service was outstanding, very efficient and friendly. The dinner really added to our enjoyment of the evening and we would highly recommend the restaurant."

"We love Poste so much that we are getting married at Hotel Monaco just so we can have our wedding catered by the restaurant! SUCH good drinks and food, wonderful service, great outdoor space for warmer weather. This time I had the chorizo mussels and the halibut special. My parents had escargot, the bacon and egg salad, and the Arctic Char. Everything was fantastic, as were the cocktails. The only thing that wasn't amazing was the ice cream for dessert, which had tiny little scoops- come on guys. Otherwise, a lovely evening."

"We had a lovely evening at Poste, celebrating two friends' birthdays. I was happy that the Poste staff acknowleged my note in my Open Table reservation about the birthdays and request to sit outside, both of which the hostess mentioned when we checked in. We each had the pre-theater menu of mixed greens salad, plus two of us had the artic char and one had the flilet mignon. All were very good and nicely presented. Our server was great, friendly and helpful. The service as a whole was very good. For dessert, we had chocolate, three ice creams and the special strawberry rubarb cake. The chocolate and ice creams were very good. The cake was inedible. It was extrememly dry and hard as a rock. Except for that one slip up, Poste was great."

"Once again we reconfirmed why Poste is one of our favorite in-town restaurants...always worth the trip. The house smoked and grilled diver scallops on a bed of celery puree was a taste delight, as was the crisp skinned Artic char farmed raised in West - by God - Virginia. The Pork chop pounded thin but with bone in still then treated like a Weinersnitzel was also extraordinary. We shared the homemade cookie board for a birthday celebration which was enough for all 6 of us. Our lovely table in a nook in the back room lent to great conversations and privacy. True it was a Sunday afternoon which is a bit more leisurely, but we have never felt rushed while dining here, just well attended."

"Onion soup was excellent but at $ 14 seemed a little pricey. Overall food was nothing special to write home about and again seemed to be on the pricy side.
My main couse was some special type of pork chop what was simply pounded down, breaded and pan fried, served with a very bland green salad that appeared to have little or no dressing and a small amount of tomato puree. The meal would have been better, in my opinion, with some type of wine sauce or pan gravy to go along with the meat that was also very bland.
I left satisified with the amount of food in the meal but felt it was a little expensive all things being considered. Probably will not go back because of the quality of the food and the cost of the meal. TOO many other choice."

Our waitress was very friendly but had more tables than she could handle. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited over 10 minutes for it to be delivered. We then ordered the oysters and the theater prefix menu. Our oysters never arrived. Our salads came out and then my entree, the Coq a Vin. I was very excited for this dish and was very disappointed. We had to track another waitress down to get the desert menu. Overall, for what we paid to dine there hardly seemed worth it."

"Food was great: Wife and I celebrating another anniversary. We ordered both the cheese + meat House-Made Charcuterie Boards. A little disappointed that we ere unable to order the Lamb Shank (all out when we got there). Instead, she ordered the Flank-steak (to die for!!!) and I ordered the NY Strip Steak (honestly, flank-steak much better choice). Some wine + pre/post dinner drinks. We had a really good time the hostess/waitress were amazing. Noise a bit too high if looking for a romantic dinner on a Thursday. Nevertheless, Highly recommended :)"

"We went to Poste for Easter brunch. Was our first time visiting for brunch. The food was good, but probably not worth a return brunch visit. "We had never been here before and decided to try after catching a movie at E Street Cinema. It was an awful experience. After waiting 1/2 hour past our reservation time, we were seated at a booth. First, if you are under 5'8", these seats will be extremely uncomfortable for your back - my legs basically were forced to shoot out straight in front of me. Then, the server got all of our food out of order - she served my husband's main course, the soup, with the salad we intended to share. 20 minutes later, she brought out the fries, which my husband intended to eat with his soup, and another salad as a comp to make up for the first timing issue, but my main course didn't come out for 20 minutes after that! By then, I was no longer hungry"

"Service was a little slow, but we were there for brunch hours, when a lot of people do tend to linger, so this may have been a factor. I had quiche, which was good, but a very small portion, and the side salad was rather uninspired. The burgers (child's mini and an adult ordered medium) were pretty undercooked. Fries were good, nice and crispy. Overall good, but not great, food."

"This was my first time here and I came with a friend from out town (New York City). The waitress was excellent, friendly with a great sense of humor. The food also was very good. The only problem was there was not enough of it. My friend and I are very thin and don't eat a lot but the portion of the scallops that she chose which was a special that night was no bigger than an appetizer and it was supposed to be an entrée. A $30 entrée to be exact. Two scallops, for an entrée? Please...that's a little over the top and believe me we're used to eating in New York City at nouvelle cuisine places. For this reason, I hesitate to recommend it and would think twice or three times about coming back. Fair is fair"

"Special family occasion. Excellent food. Good service. Portions were fairly small, but tasty. Dessert was amazing (pot de creme - yum). Only problem was that when I tried to call to increase our reservation, no one answered and didn't get a call back when I left a message. Hope this is a problem that can be solved. "The food was only fair. The special scallops sounded great but were salty and greasy. The cauliflower was undercooked yet oily and burned in spots. We enjoyed the lemontini and wine selections. The staff could see we were not raving about the food and offered to change or replace the order. My friend and I went to Poste for dinner prior to a concert at the Verizon Center. We were seated promptly at a very comfortable and roomy table. The servers immediately appeared to take our drink orders. The wine selections were excellent, albeit expensive. Our appetizer, an assortment of cheeses, was delicious. Our server asked us if we were going to the concert because of the time. We told her that we were, but were skipping the warm-up band. That was great of her to ask.
I ordered the vegetable crepes. Two were stuffed with goat cheese and beets. The other two were stuffed with vegetables and a tangy sauce. They were creative and delicious. My friend had the scallops and loved them!"
