Catherine Lombardi
Catherine Lombardi was the grandmother of owner Mark Pascal. Pascal, part owner of Stage Left Restaurant, brings his signature obsession with quality local ingredients to the cuisine of his youth. Catherine Lombardi's family came to Brooklyn from Naples. Her cooking was Neapolitan-based and heavily Brooklyn-influenced. It brought her whole extended family together every Sunday. Come taste why.

"I chose this restaurant for my celebration with just my fiancé and me. We were absolutely beyond pleased with everything. The food was outstanding and the drinks were incredible. They offered us suggestions and their suggestions were perfect for what we were looking for! I'd recommend this beautiful restaurant for special occasions or just a lovely dinner out. Great service, perfect atmosphere, amazing food, and really nice portions! I can't wait to go back!"

"This is the second time I have eaten here. Very convenient to the State Theater and parking is nearby. Each time I arrived when they opened so I am not sure what it is like when it gets crowded. The service was very good. Bartenders are very friendly, waitstaff are very knowledgeable and attentive. Not your average menu - they have items not normally found in every restaurant such as entrees featuring Wild Boar. Food was served promptly and was delicious. Will definitely return."

"My wife and I had a wonderful meal. They offer three mini-appetizers for $10 of which we had olives, parmigiano cheese and salami which went perfectly with the fresh, warm bread. Service was attentive and friendly. For the main course, my wife had the scallops and I ordered the pork. The dishes were well-prepared and very tasty and was finished off with cappuccino and a cannoli.
The meal was not rushed at all. We had a wonderful time and promised ourselves we would return soon."

"Ordered pasta with clams - clams were chewy, think they were over microwaved. There was grit in clam sauce - overall it was not a good meal.
Ordered a bottle of white wine - was warm so server put bottle in the freezer and rubbed salt on the bottle to chill - we just rolled our eyes and accepted it. Finished our appetizers before our wine arrived.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated even though we had reservations."

"Our second experience at Catherine Lombardi was as impressive as our first. They have a very sophisticated model and they pull it off beautifully. It is rather pricey, mostly due to a highly exclusive wine list, but our meals were outstanding. From the sazarac to the veal porterhouse everything was very well prepared.
Our Mother's Day celebration was a success because of the excellent food, ambience and relaxed pace at Catherine Lombardi. We look forward to another special occasion to dine there."

"Excellent location for the theater crowd. One of the best restaurants in New Brunswick. Food is above average. They may try a little too hard to be different. It is on the Expensive side.
Nice view of the Plaza at Livingston Avenue and George Street. It is worth a note, when looking out at the plaza, there are four or five mileage arrows on the top of a street light pole. (you know 3150 miles to Dublin, 6371 miles to Tokyo etc). Catherine's is probably the only location in the city where anyone would notice. It made me smile when I noticed it."

"We've been to Catherine Lombardi many times. If you're going as a small group, it's one of my favorites. Parties of 5 or more is where the wheels come off. Every time I've gone as part of a larger group, there has been an issue with service, whether it's an excessive wait for food and drink orders to entire entrees being forgotten or brought out incorrectly, to billing inaccuracies. The food is great, but not enough to overcome the spotty service."

"Being Zagat rated, I had high expectations. Waiter was horrible. Was in a great rush to take our dinner order, and than completely got it wrong, serving completely different entrees than what were ordered. He never apologized for his mistake, lacking any sort of accountability. The Maitre d did come over, and offered to bring out three new entrees, as it would take over twenty minutes to re-make the mistakes. The right thing to do, but no comp on the food was offered. Food taste was just fair, with a complete lack of presentation. Serving white Ravioli, on a white plate in a white sauce - is not very exciting to see or eat. The hand rolled Penne, with a Truffle Cream sauce, was bland and presented the same as the Ravioli."

"At a restaurant that charges $19.95 for a bowl of pasta, one would not expect a simple bowl of spaghetti to be overcooked and limp, the meatballs to be cold and mushy (had to be sent back to reheat), and the tortelloni to be undercooked and heavy. This was the first time we had been to the restaurant and while it's a very warm and inviting space, beautifully decorated, we were seriously underwhelmed by the food."
