Zest is located in upscale neighbourhood of Vancouver
West-side. Atmosphere is elegant and serene such as Japanese simplicity combined with sensuality and elements drawn straight from West Coast landscape. The menu items are mix of traditional Japanese and adventurous with European flare. Presentation is decidedly modern. Chef's Omakase Course (up to the chef menu - requires min 24 hour prior reservation) containing 7 to 8 courses of chef's special creations using seasonal local ingredients is a must have item here. Or you may choose number of small plates accompanying with your wine and sake from the award winning wine/sake list.

My advice is to park on the street as the parking lot in front of the restaurant is quite cramped."

"Have not been here in a couple of years, a prior visit having been a bit disappointed. Quite different this time. Superb sashimi (especially the tuna), creative dishes (calamari salad, tofu), and rolls that were innovative in taste and texture. Both the traditional Japanese and fusion dishes were well-executed. Prices are in line with quality. Happy to return soon."

"Everything we ordered was fantastic and the service was very attentive, courteous and friendly. From the organic green salad to gyoza to the chopped scallop rolls, it was all very yummy. The decor is also very nice and contemporary and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants delicious, higher end Japanese cuisine."

"Definitely a step above most of the sushi shacks you'll find in Vancouver. Food was very fresh and elegantly presented. The menu was inventive, with interesting twists on well-known staples of Japanese cuisine. I'm tempted to come back at some point to try some of the other dishes, or even try an omakase dinner. The wine list was also quite good. The price point is higher than many sushi places, but the quality is higher too. It's worth a try if you're looking for an above-average taste of Japanese cuisine."

"This was my second time at Zest ans I loved it both times. Both times we did not want to dwell on the fascinating menu so had the set dinner. At $60 is on the low side of what Vancouver Japanese restaurants charge for omakase and, while a preset menu (with some variation) is not the same thing as omikase, they are not so different (chefs have their own pre-set ways) The food here is excellent, beautifully presented, made with care and inventiveness. And th restaurants understated, clean decor, relaxed friendly service, and relatively low level of noice provided pretty much exactly what we wanted: a great place for conversation punctuated by excellent food."

"The food was good but was in small portion.
I had the $60 dinner course set but they came out slow and in very small portion.
By the time we finished our dinner, the green tea tiramisu was all sold out.
I was really disappointed because the green tea tiramisu was the one I mainly came for.
