"Went there to celebrate my husband's birthday. Food was AMAZING and we were very lucky to have a wonderful waitress who really took the time to explain everything to us and was very vigilant to ensure that our fondue was at the proper temperature,etc.
We had a very grumpy 1 year-old with us (unfortunately no one could babysit him), but our waitress made sure he was happy by getting him little snacks and talking to him. Also, the restaurant gave us complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. The only thing I would change about this place is the decor and perhaps the availability of high chairs/booster seats for children (I saw MANY children at the restaurant the night I was there!). Everything else was just PERFECT!"

"The inside of the restaurant was wonderful. The server was overly friendly which made him seem "phony". The salad, cheese fondu and chocolate fondu were very good however, the 125.00 main course was not all that great. They said it was serving for 2 but only if it were two small children. The filet minon was a few pieces, the shrimp was a total of 8, crab was jus a few and only the part attached to the claw (small portions) there was lobster too but nothing to brag about. We will not be returning to this place as the bill was darn pretty close to $200.00 dollars and that's without any alcoholic beverages. Again, the ambience was very nice but the small portions were not worth the money."

"We moved to the East Bay 13 years ago, and we still make the drive to La Fondue for special occasions. We have such great memories of our meals there. Our latest trip involved our 9 year old son and was his reward for a special achievement. I suspect he will have fond memories as well. Where else can you eat alligator, Kobe beef, and roast marshmallows over an open flame - all in one meal! Delicious!"

"The food at La Fondue is always supurb. The cheeses and chocolate fondues are all amazing (the cream puffs are great!). The one odd thing is that their fondue-style entrees pail in comparison to Melting Pot, however, the grill one is amazing.
The one issue is customer service. We went there and purchased a $115 special, a water, and a soda. When my husband finished the soda he was informed there were no free refills (should have been informed when ordering). When we asked the manager about this, he told us "well, its from a can". We informed him we would not have purchased a $3 soda that had no refills if we had known. We asked for it to be removed from the bill. He responded with an atitude of "you have got to be kidding me"."

"La Fondue is a great place to have a small team dinner. For best value, order the fondue combinations for two -- which include choice of salad, cheese fondue, meat/veg fondue and dessert fondue. The meal takes approximately three hours, so it is a nice team reward, welcome or farewell spot. Bring your wallet -- it is expensive."

"I don't know if La Fondue was short a server when we visited on Tuesday night? After we were seated by the hostess, no one came to our table for 10 minutes. Our table was serviced by three different servers, but never in a timely manner. One of the servers was running around like a chicken with his head cut off...moving too quickly. We thought he might drop the hot fondue pots or dishes he was carrying away. We waited exorbitantly long times between courses (salad, cheese fondue, meat fondue, chocolate). It took us 3 hours and 15 minutes to get through the meal! Additionally, the restaurant was dark (could hardly read the menu) and hot inside! Not a great experience."

"La Fondue is great for a one-time experience but not a restaurant that I would go to on a regular basis. The menu is very complicated and quite expensive. You need to not be in a hurry because from the time we sat down to the time we left, it was 2 hours. A lot of the time was waiting for the fondue to heat up and allowing the bits of food to cook. I must say that the best part of the meal was the dessert. The chocolate fondue was fantastic and worth going there for that alone."

"Dark and romantic with large booths to sit and cuddle up next to your sweetie. A great place to have conversation started . . but if you are looking for fantastic food - this is not the place. All the meats were pre-marinated with sauces that were less than extraordinary like Alligator slathered in BBQ sauce - what's the point of having expensive and exotic meats that they do not adequately tell you how to best cook in sauces that disguise the meat? The cheese was tasty, but the veggies were not exceptional to dip in the cheese. The chocolate was not amazing . . .Service was friendly and attentive. .."

"Very nice novelty restaurant for a special occasion. Quite expensive (considering the diners do all the cooking of the food---and no chefs or cooks are necessary). Serivce was excellent at the entry (hostess and maitre 'd, however) however our waiter and her helper were negligent or very slow in bringing things we asked for. The restaurant decor is beautiful, the chocolate fondue is to-die-for and it is a fun dining experience...but I still feel that it is (UNNECESSARILY) overpriced."

"I was not super impressed with La Fondue this time around. The waiter was young and didn't seem to be very well trained. He was nice enough, just seemed to be lacking in some skills. The food was just mediocre as well. Probably will stick to The Basin for dining in Saratoga. Their food is far superior and their service outstanding when compared to La Fondue."

"My boyfriend and I came to La Fondue to celebrate (both of) our birthdays, and we had a wonderful time. I had been there before but he had not, and I knew that it would be pricey so we saved up for it.
If you are going out to a pricier dinner, this is a unique, fun, romantic, delicious way to spend your cash. Make sure to get the Lemon Tarragon dressing on your salad, I'm certain that you can't go wrong with ANY of the cheeses or chocolates, and if you feel like having a bundle of new food experiences get the Wild Thing combination dinner (We did!). And pay close attention to your favorite dipping goodies, because they'll bring extras of whatever you want to dip into the cheese or chocolate.

"We have been here many times, but our visit on 4/13/13 stood out as one our best, due in large part to service provided by Jonathan and Amanda. It was my girlfriends birthday, and from our greet at the host stand until the time we left 2 hours later all three of us in our party felt welcomed and totally taken care of. The food and the ambiance sale itself, service....GREAT SERVICE, is what we pay for. Thank you to your entire team for making this a special evening."

"This was a great double date night out with friends. The nature of fondue is very social so it brings out all kinds of conversation topics and laughs. We were seated in a cozy part of the restaurant, and enjoyed our cheese fondue (schweiz), meat selection and chocolate fondue (dark with grand marnier). Service was a little spotty sometimes - our server would disappear for chunks of time -- but we got what we needed eventually. Definitely recommend!"

"Our visit to La Fondue for Easter was a very nice experience. Our waiter was outstanding! Kind of a foodie himself, engaging and attentive. The food is always good - the cheese fondue is GREAT and the meats are good too. If you are into wild meat, there is a large variety of alligator, Buffalo, etc. We stuck to Chicken and Filet of Beef which is pricey at $46 but 3 entrees were more than enough for 3 of us. The decor is trendy elegant but because it is too dark for my liking, I ranked it down to a 3."

"My experience at La Fondue was a good one. Waitstaff very attentive and kind. Food was great, never would've thought about eating cheese for dinner but I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Dessert was even better. Keep it guys you have gain another customer!!"

"After being escorted to a room with 3 other tables, our waiter explained how everything works and the various options. The service was wonderful, and I like how each table in our section had a different "lead server", as it felt very personalized (I presume our waiter had a table in each room). Water glasses (chik design glasses) were never close to becoming empty and service was impeccable without being overbearing.
The Romantique ($125 for two): choice of cheese, main course cooking method, and chocolate. The salad was mediocre, but the four cheeses fondue was fabulous. You are the cook -- lobster tail (ready to cook), shrimp, chicken, and Filet Mignon. Chocolate fondue and complimentary champagne (b-day) was great!"
