Mon Ami Gabi - Bethesda
Mon Ami Gabi is a classic French bistro and steakhouse. The traditional menu features classics such as the warm Onion Soup Au Gratin, Frisée & Bacon Salad with a soft-poached egg and croutons, Roast Chicken grand-mère style with mushrooms, bacon and pearl onions, as well as the trademark Steak Frites. At lunch, we offer lighter fare including crepes, quiches and seasonal salads. Come in Saturday and Sunday for our weekend brunch, featuring a Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar!
To complement the cuisine, an extensive selection of over 80 boutique French wine varietals are served by the glass or bottle from our signature rolling wine cart.
Please Note: Reservations are taken for indoor seating only. Outdoor seating is available on first-come, first-serve bases.

"We went to Mon Ami Gabi for brunch on Mother's Day, and were in from out of town because of a graduation. The service was superlative, and can best be described in the words of our waiter, Greg. When one guest asked if she could have something different than on the menu, he told her he could do whatever she wanted, then asked what it was. And he followed through. It was the best service I have ever had at any Mother's Day brunch. The food was also excellent."

"It is always nice to find a place for dinner with a friend that is spot on every time. Mon Ami Gabbi is that place in Bethesda for me. It is wise to have reservations because it is packed. With reservations you never wait (love that). Fresh ingredients and the seafood was flown in that morning. The soup, salad, and main entree were wonderful. The presentation was perfect - even with a packed house we were not rushed or slighted. Nice wine list as well with a range of moderate to high end selections."

"I usually have a great dining experience here but our waitress was very inattentive, forgot our appetizer, and then tried to blame us because she forgot it. She had the salads come out first and said we'd ordered salads so the appetizer comes second, very irritating. However, the manager saw what was going on and quickly and professionally handled the situation."

"I have never dined at this chain before and ordered a barramundi special on a bed of kale. The kale was so salty, and so tough it was hard to enjoy - and was a bit of a choking hazard. My friend, who ordered the mussels (a regular on the menu) made a much better choice. Our server was delightful, the outdoor lunch experience on a beautiful day was fantastic - but I would be hesitant to return."

"Based on earlier positive reviews we went to the restaurant to celebrate an important day. However, it was truly disappointing. The waiter was unengaged, the service slow and it was too much noise to have a conversation. The food was OK but not exceptional and the wine was overpriced."

"I ordered the asparagus quiche and it was much larger than I expected and very delicious! My daughter had the mushroom crepe and loved it. The ambience was great. The only problem was the noise level. We were at a table for 4 in the corner - I could talk to the person next to me but had trouble carrying on a conversation with the other 2 people across from us. Overall it was a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate a birthday at lunchtime!"

"Even though it is a chain restaurant, I am amazed at how they maintain a unique character. The food is both classic (e.g. onion soup) and modern (salad nicoise with seared tuna). Servers are young, energetic and attentive. The mixed drinks are well done and the wine list is extensive.
It is consistently a good meal for reasonable cost"

"Of our four dinners, two were good, one was fair, and one was awful. The steak frites, a classic French dish, was the bad one. The steak was very tough and full of gristle, and the frites were thin, hard, and tasteless. The fish in the fish and frites was very good, and the chicken dish was good. The arctic char was quite average. The chocolate cake was fabulous. The servers were all very good. The noise level was beyond noisy. This is not a place to go for a quiet or leisurely meal."

The ends of the bread were very hard and not edible and the fritz were hard like potato chips expected them to be softer like french fries. The fish on the fish and chips was very good lightly fried and great presentation but a little too salty. Salmon & Spinach salad was good. Server gave us free dessert which was very nice."

"My review would be much more enthusiastic but for the truly terrible service we received. I don't think it was even restaurant-wide, as we would stop other servers when we needed things like silverware or the rest of our orders and they would be quick and attentive, even returning to check on our table after helping us. The service we were assigned was quite poor, however, including adding things to our orders that we didn't ask for, leaving things out that we did, not telling us about changes to the items we'd ordered until they were literally put in front of us ("Sorry, no jalapenos or peppers for your omelet, here is hot sauce") and constantly dismissing or ignoring our requests for things like water, drink refills, etc."

"Really glad we made our reservation w/ Open Table as the folks right ahead of us were told they'd have to wait for 90 minutes (on a sunday nite). Had a wonderful dinner. Kid friendliness was an unexpected plus for us. Great presentation for the little one's dinner. My filet mignon was cooked purrrfecly. Had a glass of Gigondas and it was exquisite. Highly recommend it. Considering coming back for lunch/brunch."

"My husband and I have had lunch there many times. We go for the onion soup and a small salad. This weekend the soup was okay. The house salads were a disgrace for $6 or $7. My husband had 4 tiny shrimp on his salad for $6. In addition, the charge for a glass of iced tea iwas an outrage. We will not frequent Mon Ami Gabi nor recommend it to friends. Quite a disappointment."

"First our server was excellent. She was attentive, friendly and knew her profession. Plus when we told her our table was wobbly, she produced a wedge from her pocket and immediately fixed the problem. The food was very good. Delivered in a timely manner and hot. The wine by the glass was fresh.
On the negative side, The Maitre'D was lacking experience. We asked for a special table (knowing you don't always get what you ask for) but were shown to different table then what we asked. If she had mentioned this we may have asked 'How long until....'. We took the table but by the end of meal our table was stacked with china and stemware (small tables for two when you have a bottle of wine along with all the other items)."

"Food was good, nice menu, prices were good, service was very good but it was noisy...almost too noisy to talk across the table...ok talking side by side. Thank goodness for $7 valet parking. Haven't been to Bethesda in years, didn't recognize a thing and while there might have been plenty of garage parking (didn't look for it), I prefer places where I can park myself. The restaurant was VERY crowded for a 6p Sat night reservation."

"The first impression was the prepare welcoming pleasant people into a whirlpool. of tables, noise, and music. You can hear your conversation over the noise, maybe because we sat next to each other. And we could always here each other over the music perhaps because we were sitting in the next section over.
II was actually warned about this sound of the noise by the person who recommended the restaurant so I wasn't so surprised bye the cacophony.
all the food was excellently prepared. My trout almondine was perfectly cooked but taztsd flat. My gal pals chicken pomard (?) was much better. the side mashed potatoes was repaired wonderfully.
the carrot cake dessert special was wonderful and even had my dieting friend dive into it.
