Daily Grill - San Francisco
Daily Grill is located on Geary, near Powell, only a half-block from Union Square and in the center of San Francisco’s theatre district. Comfortable and clubby with booths and high ceilings, Daily Grill is a great place to take a break from the bustle of Union Square. The large menu and comfortable decor makes the Daily Grill a favorite stop before or after the theatre. Daily Grill is an updated version of the San Francisco grills of the past, providing generous portions of classic American dishes, such as steaks, chops, chicken pot pie, and meat loaf...a neat, friendly place where one can get crab cakes or a burger, Shrimp Louie or a T-Bone, along with martinis, single malts, microbrews and a good bottle of wine. The ambience is lively and clubby, with comfortable booths, dark woods and high ceilings.

"My husband and I both got steaks and they were cooked perfectly. We were put in a booth on the backside of the restaurant which seemed to be a lot quieter than the front room. The waiter was great and we were never left wanting for anything. The place is quite pricy tho. Don't forget to add in the drinks, only a couple drinks a piece added up to more than the steak and we got the cheap drinks. Overall it was a great experience and we would go back if we lived in the area."

"Daily Grille is my go-to spot when I am in San Fran. The food and service are always consistently great. The popcorn shrimp and ahi tuna were tremendous. Tha Ahi tuna comes with melt-in-your-mouth fries seaweed. Then we had a Pot Pie bonanza with a chicken pot pie, lobster pot pie and filet pot pie. We all slept like we were back in the womb."

"Hostess was rude. Had it not been a special occasion planned months in advance (and at the request of the person we feted), I would have walked out the door and given my business to any one of dozens of other fine restaurants within walking distance.
Once seated, however, we received excellent service from our waiter, Sean. Ask for him if you decide to dine there.
Food was not worth the money. It was either an off-night or the Daily Grill is on a downhill slide in terms of quality. Very pricey for mediocre American fare."

"Have eaten here numerous times and love the restaurant. This is the only time we have had such horrible service from our designated waiter. Thankfully others finally took charged and had us out in time for theater. Really puts a damper on your meal when you have terrible service."

"Every time we go to the nearby Curran theater, we have lunch at the Daily Grill, which we find to be an exceptional establishment. The service is tremendous and friendly, and the food arrives promptly. It can be crowded at times, but we have never had to wait at all as we had reservations."

"We booked dinner after a Jersey Boys matinee. 5:00 was perfect, since it is only a block down Geary from the Curran. We were seated immediately, had a drink and ordered. Sean/Shaun/Shawn was our server, and he took good care of us. Food was good, though Calamari is better at Sundance in PA; the pot pies were good, with a flakey but slightly underflavored crust, and the crab cakes were very meaty (a good thing). Attention from the staff is good, but not intrusive."

One reason that we chose the place was because of our guests loves the Gluten free menu.

"when making the reservation for 8 and then changing it to 9 I had requested the private dining room as we had last year...on Friday night around 9 pm I was told that I could guarantee the room with a $450 "contract" ...with 9 people I knew that we would surely have a check over $450 which we did...but then was told that Nora had given the room to another party which frequents the Daily Grill....when the check was presented the wait person noted that i had not added a tip...!!! the invoice showed that the tip had already been added....perhaps he did not see the added tip?? perhaps Nora did as she was directed in giving the private room to someone else before I could complete the "contract"....."

"This is the 10th time we have eaten at the Daily Grill and each time the did not disappoint. We also stay at the adjoining Handlery Hotel and very delighted. A great combination for a get away to SF and so close to Union Square. I am not associated with these establishes just very pleased."

"Outrageously loud & egregious behavior tolerated in back room where we had requested a quiet table!!! A group of five very bad boys + one adult were allowed to destroy our dining experience and that of those all around them. A quiet table, indeed, it was not!"

"The food are made from fresh ingredients and cooked onsite. No canned foods, worth the money. Prices are moderate. Drinks are made from fresh ingredients. Bread is excellent and fresh from the oven warm. Our sever was excellent and he took down to the last details, very accommodating and with a smile and a pleasure to serve. Well trained staff."
