"The ambiance is lovely. Most of the food was quite good - the poke appetizer, the lobster tempura and the market fish with ginger preparation. The lamb was dry. The banana tempura dessert was excellent but don't bother ordering the Portuguese donuts. The mi e drinks were lousy. The bill was $500 for six people without wine. Definitely not worth it."

"Arrived and we were seated at the high top tables by the bar. Not very comfortable unless you are very tall. Service is usually exceptional, but not tonight. The beef poke appetizer usually so full of flavor you wish it was on the dinner menu, not so tonight. I ordered the certified ribeye, awesome as usual. Two others the honey/mac shrimp...they said also very good. Tempura lobster was very good but they did away with the hot tempura dipping sauce...but the waiter went and found something when requested, so that was good. It was our anniversary...we were treated to a delicious dessert and two beautiful leis. Overall we have been here many times and usually awesome...just service, table, and appetizer lacking tonight."

"First of all, I like to say that the food is wonderful. It was very filling and it couldn't Have been any better without the great service we got from Andrew and some other waiters that were assisting him..I didn't get their names but they were very helpful..kerry is always welcoming and helpful as well...I absolutely love the atmosphere of the restaurant it is very clean. To start me up I've tried the calamari and the Filipino spring rolls which was a big portion for appetizers. Then my entree was the lamb chops which was the best I ever tried considering I dont like lamb..and to conclude my meal with the famous banana limpid which is a MUST TRY..which is my all time favorites...I LOVED it..Hope future customers will love it too.."

"Had dinner at Ko's while staying at the Kea Lani in Maui.
Ko's has had a significant makeover since we last dined there a few years back, which makes it feel more like an enclosed restaurant instead of the more open air vibe which it used to have. The food has had a makeover as well, although not in a way we particularly enjoyed.
The prices were higher than expected for what we had and we felt the fussiness factor had been upped, so it didn't feel so casual. We were left feeling not so impressed, and slightly fleeced at the costs. It also didn't help that we were seated directly beneath one of the ceiling fans which seemed to be spinning on high speed the entire time.
Sorry, I really wanted to like it a whole lot more."

"We've dined at Ko Restaurant several times, and absolutely love it. We are local residents of Maui, and found Ko Restaurant to be a very romantic place with amazing food and excellent service. The use of our names from the staff added a nice, personal touch. We love the music and entertainment. The kama'aina deals are a great way to generate local business. "A wonderful personal and professional attitude at this restaurant. Start off with great food and then add perfectly elegant and timely service without the pressure that one sometimes feels from an overly-zealous wait staff-- and what's not to love? But here's the clincher: Unlike most restaurants on Maui that never offer (or sometimes offer) or (only at special times of the year offer) kama'aina pricing for locals and residents, Ko offers kama'aina prices all the time (24/7) at the bar and hi-top tables -- which I like as much as the main dining area for ambiance. Take advantage of this great restaurant if you live here, for sure, but even if you don't -- the prices are reasonable and the food is eclectic and superb."

"This place is way overpriced. I thought the food was good and our service was outstanding. The wine list was okay, listed on an ipad. I ordered a bottle of wine and then we got a second. I thought the wine was around $150 but ended up being $750 a bottle. So, I was quite surprised when I got the bill, but couldn't prove the mistake. Anyway, the food was overpriced as well. I loved the fish. My husband had the lamb chop and didn't like it at all. I would probably not go back."

"We were staying at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort and wanted to try a nice restaurant. KO had good reviews so we though we would give it a try. They brought out bread and rice crackers with butter and edamane hummus. Much better than just bread and butter. Asked for and was given the recipe for the edamane hummus. We started with the Oishi Sushi. Excellent with a very nice presentation. My wife had the Island Style Fried Rice. She loved it. I had the Spicy Buckwheat Soba Noodle Stir Fry. It was also excellent. We had dinner at Mama's Fish House, which has a wonderful location, the next evening. I think KO had the better food. KO is fairly expensive but it's in Wailea where everything is expensive."

"Paella and house salad were great and are recommended. I like that they have the DASH menu, with heart healthy, low glycemic, gluten free and vegan options for those who want that. Two entree and two appetizer choices for each type of restricted diet. Beautiful restaurant with intriguing decor. We are locals who just wanted to try it out, and we were happy about kamaaina treatment as well. Nice to have outdoor dining with a roof over it just in case."

"They advertise a 50% Kama'aina rate that was not true, they charged us the full price on most dishes. The server was not helpful and looked 'spaced out and like a zombie' everytime she came to the table-which was twice, once to take our order and once to drop the bill. Left feeling ripped off. I live here on Maui and would not recommend this place to any friends or visiters."

"Ko has excellent food, service, and menu to satisfy everyone. Tasty seafood, perfect soft-shell crab, kids sushi, macrobiotic menu... And don't forget to order their delicious desserts. Delectably filled malasadas with ice cream and even a macrobiotic dessert with strawberries.

"Based on other reviews we had great expectations however the quality of the food was lacking. The calimari was over cooked, the salad limp and the entree salty and the vegetables cold. "Starting with the valet parking, to the short walk to Ko's, there was a feeling of tranquility and quality. Our waiter was very helpful. The food was throughtfully prepared with attention to various flavours working together to make for a memorable meal. We will be back"

"Loved this restaurant. The 3-appy option including the fire prawns, spring rolls, and spicy sushi roll is a good choice. The only issue we had is that you do not get a sunset there although it is still a nice outside spot. Great service. Not pretentious but still a special high-end feel."

"My husband and I felt the food was fairly good, however extremely overpriced for what you get. The service in general was poorly organized, our dishes came out prior to our drink orders & bottle of wine. Our table was never cleared of empty glasses, or the bread at the end of the dinner. I got the fish special with a crab cake which was amateurish at best."

"Chef Pang has created a dynamic, interesting, and delicious menu inspired by truly local fare. We split the Mauka Harvest salad and each ordered entreés. The salad tasted like someone had picked it fresh minutes before, and had pohole fern shoots. The shrimp tempura and lobster tempura were pure perfection. Tender, sweet, and not the least overcooked. The servers were excellent. Prompt, courteous, (they split the salad for us without even asking, or charging an extra plate charge). The Korean BBQ Strip loin was a little tough and grisly, and I'd probably order something else next time. Entrées did arrive with side dishes on the plate, so extra side orders weren't necessary to order. Portions more than ample."
