Foodies flock to this cozy, no-frills Italian trattoria in the heart of Boston’s North End, named “Best Italian Restaurant” by Boston magazine. With just eight tables, Pomodoro is an intimate, romantic spot that’s earned an enduring reputation as a favorite among critics and regulars alike, thanks to its superb value, plus-size portions, flavorful sauces and casual atmosphere. "Pomodoro on Hanover St. exceeded the expectations of both myself and my dining companion. I'd been to the restaurant in Brookline Village, I was pleased with the service and a little less thrilled with the food. But based upon online recommendations we decided to try the Hanover St. restaurant. Oh my god! Completely blown away by the freshness and quality of the food, wine and service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in the North End."

"I just want to say that my girlfriend and I went in on Wednesday night and had an absolutely fantastic evening. We could not have asked for our dinner out to have been any better. Our server was absolutley the best. The food was perfect and the ambiance couldn't have been better. If your looking for a nice romantic quite night out with your special someone...well this is hands down the place to go."

"Calamari appetizer a little disappointing; chewy, not tender.
Entrees were very good, especially the chicken carbonara.
Wine was a wee bit too expensive by the bottle.
Atmosphere was terrific (very small and intimate)as was the waitress.
I would return, but avoid calamari."

"This was a great surprise. I had an out of town colleague who wanted Italian. I made reservations for 8pm on a Monday evening. The service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious. I ordered salad and they brought us a complimentary calimari. A slice of Tiramisu at the end was a nice, and delicious touch. It is a very small and cozy restaurant. I will definitely go back. A wonderful value too!"

"went on a tues night when a college bud was in town - got there at 5:30 and the place was empty - nice! the hostess brought us fresh bread and dipping oil with olives to munch on. we ordered a bottle of wine, an app (calamari), and two entrees (cod & sea food stew). as we were diving into the calamari, she came over with a bowl of mussels in broth - we were like huh? on the house she said. yikes! we had to loosen our belts before we attacked the entrees. after finishing our wine, they opened a new one and filled our glasses a couple times - again on the house. we were ready to roll out of there (literally) when she came over with a couple pieces of tirimisu - what the?????

"Food was fantastic and our waitress was so friendly. The place is extremely small, I initially thought we walked in the wrong door because I was right in front of someone's table. We had the first table of 2 inside the door in January so it was pretty chilly anytime someone walked in or out. Also, our table faced the window so my date and I weren't facing each other and while I enjoyed watching people walk in & out of Mike's Pastry, my date had a large plant blocking the window in front of him. As long as you get a table in the middle of the room, get ready for a delicious meal. My salmon was so tasty, and the leftovers were just as good. And remember, cash only!!"

"We had a wonderful meal at this tiny gem of a restaurant. Relatively small menu, but something for everyone. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, but not intrusive. They gave us a free dessert and an extra glass of a new wine to try, which were also nice touches. Very romantic atmosphere, although the small size made a loud obnoxious woman at another table a bit annoying. The seafood fra diavlo was fantastic- mostly seafood, not a cheap version with lots of pasta and little seafood that you might get at another restaurant. Overall a great date restaurant."

"We made the reservation way in advance (2 weeks). When we arrived there the assigned table was almost in the kitchen (an extremely tight space), the chairs had no back, we asked to change the table and we were replied "that table was reserved by someone else", like we did not reserve ours....We happily left and had dinner on the same street, at "Pagliuca's", that was lovely and with very curteous staff.All in all, not very impressed with Northend Pomodoro. We can not comment on the food, as we did not really have the chance to try it. And will not attempt in the future."

"One of my favorite restaurant discoveries in a long time. The place is teeny tiny, but if you can squeeze through the people and tables to get to your seat, you'll find a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy and amazing meal. The ambiance is romantic if you take a fellow foodie, but may be a bit too energetic or "unique" for someone whose not up for an adventure. And the food......the food......fantastic. Everything tastes fresh and just as you'd hope it would- full of flavor and like someone in the kitchen really cares. Proportions are more than generous and the flavors are absolutely dynamite. The menu is small, but as you'll want to order everything on it, so that's a good thing."

"I usually don't mind a cramped little restaurant, but this was a way too tight. We were literally sitting right next to the door on New Year's eve, with the wind coming in every time the door opened. Food was good, but not so good that I will come back due to the cramped conditions."

"I booked this after trawling a Zagat '09 guide for this area for 2 hours and what a find it was. Siobhan (the owner) and her daughter ran the show. We arrived 20 mins late for the table and she hadn't given it away on NYE. (Thank you) The place was very busy suprisingly early even though it was NYE. Ambiance and energy in the air was great, as was the food. Our table of 5 were more than graciously accommodated and she gave us some complimentay starters for the table for NYE special. We really enjoyed our meal and it set the mood for the night. IT is situated in the heart of Little Italy."

"Tiny restaurant (9 tables in cramped quarters) hidden behind scaffolding on Hanover St., but what a find! One woman served as waitstaff for the entire restaurant and directed the kitchen as well, in constant motion, all the while with a smile on her face. Food was outstanding as well (had the seafood fra diavolo). A nice and unexpected touch was the complimentary tiramasu. Can't wait to go back."

"This is a quaint, small, Italian restaurant where you will get great food, a relaxed atmosphere and no stuffy white table cloths! If you are the typical American who expects to dine in less than 30 minutes, try McDonalds. However, if you want a romantic atmosphere where you will get GREAT food, stop by.

There is no overwhelming wine list or menu, but, there are many choices. We had the veal and tiger shrimp pasta which was great.

Also, CASH only!"

"The best!!!!. Can't wait to go back. Had a 1:00pm reservation and got there at 12:15, (it was to cold to walk around)they excepted us with open arms and even gave us a hot bowl of fantastic Fish Soup to warm us up. Friendly, kind, food was out of this world,
worth the trip into Boston from Cape Cod just for Pomodoro!!."

"I have been dining at Pomodoro (both the North End and the Brookline Village sites) for many years...since they both opened. I find them both to be one of the best small restaurants in the Boston Area. The ambience in both is elegant; fun, friendly, and informal. The food is always excellent. Siobhan seems to have a knack for finding good, imaginative chefs. I go with my husband, or a group of friends, and once a year I take a group of my BU students. Everyone always loves it. I also like the new decor at Pomo in the North End. Very handsome. The wine lists are small but acceptable. The service could not be better."

"The food was incredible, as always, and the service is great. It has a very comfortable, and romantic atmosphere. I took my girlfriend there on our first date and it couldn't have worked out anymore perfectly for us. The small, candle-lit restaurant made it very intimate and special, instantly becoming our favorite place to go, and creating a memory that will last liftime."
