"We didn't know what to order and the waiter was no help at all. There were several dishes that we could not finish- they were so spicy- and I would of never had ordered if I had only known. It was different, but I would not want go there again. Even the drinks were spicy!"

"Modern atmosphere -- not intimate or cozy, more spacious and energetic. Unique fusion of indian and latin flavors. Had a sampler dish of appetizers which we loved -- especially the avocado fritters, artichoke pakoras and cilantro tamarind shrimp. We also enjoyed the fish paella. There is a separate vegetarian menu which we also ordered from."

"1. There was an event going on downstairs with live music. The noise was almost unbearable. We asked to have our seats moved to the farthest table in the back, but we still had to yell at each other to be heard. The least they can do is notify us that we're booked with an event. 2. One person who joined our group late was not asked whether he wanted a drink. They forgot to bring my friend a spoon even though he ordered gazpacho. They again forgot to bring a spoon for my friend who ordered curry."

"We had a business lunch at Vermillion and it was perfect. We got a three course lunch for a very reasonable prix fix. The food was very good (love the spices), service was attentive and I loved the decor (very modern). I look forward to returning. But the place was less than half full - I can't figure out why."

"I opted to go to this restaurant because of the notable chef Chauhan from the TV show "Chopped". The meal was impeccably presented and had multiple layers of flavor in each bite. The vegetarian tasting is an excellent opportunity to discover Indian/Latin Fusion at its best. Favorite morsel was the Artichoke Pakora, a twist on a traditional food that was incredibly perfect. Each bite had you craving for more. My only disappointment were the deserts. Although the creativity and the presentation was excellent, I felt they lacked the proper level of sweetness and or refreshing taste you long for at the end of a beautiful meal. Over all the meal was fantastic and I would definitely return to experience the non-veg meals."

"nice concepts but needs some customer-friendly tweaking---rice costs almost nothing---why one has to buy it separately in context of an Indian inspired menu simply looks like money making and sends a negative message to consumer---teas offered do not include darjeeling or jasmine----menu is unbalanced and uncoordinated for creating a meal that represents today's eating styles, especially for lunch"

"Food was great but service was slow especially for those who only have a 1hour lunch due to important meetings/matters, but still would like to go out to a nice expensive restaurant."

"I come here whenever I want to be away from the crowd. It's never busy at this restaurant. I don't get it but I can generally have a reliable meal in a quiet setting. It's a probably a good bar scene in the evenings."

"Restaurant was not busy but food was delivered to us belonging to another table that actually came in after us. Didn't get the impression waiter valued our being there."

"What can I say about Vermillion? The first time I had the pleasure of dining here, it was a birthday treat that my wife had organized with a few close friends. We started down at the bar below and worked out way up to the restaurant....all in all, a great time. I have been there for several other occassions, including another birthday experience when we rented the private room as well as romantic evenings to taste the special menus during Valentine's Day and other such themes.
The chef here really knows what she's doing and every single dish here is to die for. My favorite is the Lobster Portuguese, which is served alongside some coconut rice. I have also had this in the vegetarian version with cauliflower. The appetizer I most like is"

"The last time I was at Vermilion was a few years ago...at that time it was pretty new and busy. This week I checked it out again, the food is still fantastic, but it was a quiet night which worries me a little. I hope it was just an off night because it would be a shame if they didn't stick around. The food is exciting and stimulating. The drinks are fantastic (and they have a nice bar area downstairs which is large enough to accomodate a group of friends). Check it out if you're in the mood for something new, spicy, and far from boring."

"I celebrated 2 Valentine's Days here and must say last year's was so much better, from food to "Aphrodisiac" tasting. This year the food was bland, not spicy at all, not well matched and the service was slow and unorganized... I got the meat/veggie tastings even though I ordered the Seafood... And they weren't that busy. I wish it had more of a Valentine's day tailored menu for each of the regular tastings and better service. Atmosphere was good though and my boyfriend loved one of his steaks. Hopefully next year will have better options, otherwise I'll probably go elsewhere."

"Portions were tiny and food didn't taste as good as I had hoped. Service was very poor...they taook ages to bring drinks to our tables and take our order. They expected me to eat a stew with a fork and knife! The restaurant was fairly empty for a Friday night...I can understand why...I don't think they will be around too much longer!"

"I was happy with all of the appetizers at Vermillion, with the exception of the duck vindaloo arepas. The "arepa" itself seemed more liek a crispy flour tortilla or wonton, rather than a cornmeal cake. But the flavor of the duck was good. My butter chicken was delicious, then dessert came. We ordered the chocolate cake with chili oranges and blueberry sorbet. The dish was beautiful and simple but the sorbet was NOT blueberry - it was beet. I could overlook this if it was good sorbet, however it was dry and grainy and not smooth. It was disappointing that no one informed us of a menu change. I would have spoken up at the time, but we were the last ones in the restaurant and did not want to hold up the staff from going home."

"The food was excellently presented, almost as though an art. The butter chicken, artichoke fritters, and jicama salad were absolutely delicious, though the vegetarian paella seemed subpar, and the flavor was a bit confusing. The pani puri margarita really brought back memories of Indian street food!
The service was excellent."

"Went there for lunch during restaurant week. The place was empty at 1 pm which was wonderful for us as it was very relaxed and it wasn't noisy at all. The restaurant week menu was delicious! The only problem was that I had to ask twice for the restaurant week menu. Very good food, nice medium size proportions, very flavorful. I would go back again."

"Interesting menu. Most of the food was excellent. The strip steak itself was very good but the spicy coating made it virtually impossible to eat. Wish I was warned about that. The corn soup was especially good. Service was spotty, at best."

"The food was very good and the service was good. The ambiance is cold, not a place for a romantic dinner for two or a speacial occasion. I would only recommend Vermilion for corporate affairs, large groups or to go during the summer for lunch."

"An interesting blend of Indian and Latin foods and influences that complement one another very well. I went for lunch with a business associate, and we both enjoyed the meal. The service was efficient and attentive, without being overbearing. It was not very crowded that day, so the noise level was low, which I like. The restaurant itself is very modern."
