"We were really looking forward to this as we were told that it was the best sushi in Denver. Not so much. First, it was so loud, we couldn't hear each other or the waiter. So we didn't really know what the waiter recommended as we had to keep saying "What?" Then the sushi rolls we ordered were not as advertised. We ordered a roll that was supposed to have pineapple, apples, pinenuts, and yellowtail. All that was in it was cucumber and spicy yellowtail. All the rolls we ordered tasted identical. Very little fish and tons of mayo. The couple sitting next to us sent back there food, so maybe we just hit this on a bad night. The sushi we ordered (at $10 a pair) was actually good. But that was it. We couldn't get out fast enough."

"The sushi tasted great. It was a bit messy though, the chef could have done a better job putting together the rolls (we ordered mostly maki rolls). Compared to a few other local sushi spots it tasted better but was again a bit messy to eat.

The prices are extremely reasonable for the sushi itself however our appetizers (soup and seaweed salad) were a tad on the expensive side for what was served. Overall it was under $50 per person for a good sized meal for the two of us and two beers apiece including the tip, which is well within reason for this type of dining. I would definitely recommend and will be returning to this restaurant."

"The sushi was very good. Service was slow on a Friday night, we got seated in the basement so there was no view. The noise level in the basement was lower than upstairs though, which was better for our group. We noted on our bill to split between two credit cards, and the server acknowledged that. They split it, but charged both amounts to one of the credit cards only. So we ended up having to drive to the other couple's house with cash the other day. The manager was very gracious."

"Very good sushi and rolls - excellent uni (as good as I've had in NYC), and some of the creative rolls (e.g. salmon tartare roll) are also superb. Good, well thought out wine list - we had an Australian Semillon that went exceptionally well with the food. Rice could be a little warmer and better seasoned, but all in all it's hard to imagine you could do much better in Denver."

"The food and waitstaff were fantastic! But was a little bummed to find they didn't really take into consideration the requests in my reservation. Fairly simple..."celebrating birthday...wish for secluded table." We were sat at a table in the middle of the dining room right under a vent as well near door draft. Needless to say, it set the mood off wrong. After ordering, we saw that the table we wished to have wasn't being saved for a large party anymore and the servers quickly transferred us. I would suggest taking a closer look at reservation requests and working double time to accomodate. I'll certainly call around for the restaurant who will fulfill my requests before returning here."

"The food was great as always and the gentelman at the door was so friendly. I am 7 months pregnant and the waitress was very helpful in suggesting what type of roll had all cooked items and would be safe to eat. "If you're just a little daring, allow the Sushi Chefs to construct their own special and unique sushi/ sashimi/ roll combination which are available at a range of prices. The staff will accommodate your dietary restrictions and prepare something unique and special.

Also, Joey the Host was super-friendly and he along with all of the staff provided for a great evening!

After dinner, walk half a block to Paris on the Platte for great coffee and very interesting late-night people watching!"

"Amazingly fresh seafood in an extremely relaxed atmosphere. We ordered a $70 worth sushi and sashimi with Chef's choice, and asked for more quality than quantity. The plate turned out not only good in taste but also vibrant in colos and brilliantly arranged in a way that it was like an art work for viewing entertainment. When visiting a sushi restautant, we mostly like to order salmon roe, sea urchin, or sweet shrimp as a starter to test the freshness, and Sushi SaSa satisfied our palate without problem. The atmosphere was quiet and the service was excellent. Strongly recommended for sushi lovers, especially for those who are fond of fresh sashimi and sushi in a relaxed and quite place."

"New year's eve, service was fair, server forgot our appetizer took twenty minutes to come take our drink order, then another fifteen minutes to bring our bottle of wine. Food was great except for one roll that was horrible. After the fact, the server told us he didn't like that roll either and that he had gotten a lot of complaints about it(would have been nice to know that before we ordered)."

"I go to sushi all the time, I love it. Sushi sasa has the best sushi I have had in Denver. The quality of the fish made you notice the difference. Service was a little snooty, could have been nicer. Made me feel a little uncomfortable because I was not totally familiar with their style sushi. Waiter treated me like I was a cretin because I was not hip to their level of authenticity. Loved the food will go back."

"Our server was wonderful and the manager/receptionist was hilarious and very nice. We ordered the Shrimp and Asparagus Dynamite which was amazing as always, but was lacking sauce. It had a small amount of sauce on top so the dish was a little dry. Unagi was great, tempura wonderful, but the Big-O roll tasted a little off and was very mushy compared to it's usual crunchiness. The taste was a little sour so we only had half of the roll. We both did not feel to hot at the end of the night, so there may have been something off with the yellowtail. Wine and dessert was wonderful and we had a great time as always. We wish the food was just a little better that night but will always come back!"

"I really liked the set up and ambiance of the restaurant. We were promptly greeted by the maitre de, our coats were properly stowed and we were escourted to our table right away. I also thought the restaurant was very clean and sharp. The food was pretty good and the service was great. Nice presentation also.

The only downside is that the wine and champagne list could use an upgrade/overhaul. In my opinion it is too dependant on domestic brands (mostly California wines) and the selection was sub par."

"This is one of my favourite restaurants and my top sushi restaurant, however, this time the service was only fair and did not reflect the usual overall professionalism of service and quality of food that Sushi Sasa is characterized for.
eg. Our shrimp dynamite was overcooked and dry and our server were loud and obtrusive.
I have noticed that the standard of service/food decreases when the owner is not present."

"The sushi was DELICIOUS!!! So many great options, and everything we ordered was outstanding. The service was excellent and our server was extrememly helpful. He helped us choose a delicious sake, appetizers and rolls, and we loved every single choice. The restuaraunt was hard to find because of lack of signage, but other than that, we loved it. It was on the pricey side (especially the wines!), but atleast the food was worth it. Will most definitely return and have already sent several friend there to see for themselves!"
