"I made a reservation for 7 at the Smith for brunch. We did have to wait for our table for 20 minutes, but as soon as we sat down, they offered us homemade chips with melted blue cheese, french toast and breaded green beans to apologize. Our server was extremely nice and helpful and everyone agreed the food was amazing.
I loved it and I would recommend it to anyone who ask where to go for bunch in NYC."

"We were seated on time. Not too busy for the day bc we had a pre noon table and no mimosas were allowed. Nice fresh stuff but nothing I had was amazing. Would hit again I nearby. Had fennel Arabia salad. Did like the thin shaved fennel as it overpower. Had average cheese grits and decent cheddar biscuit. Fried green beans with a fresh buttermilk dip was an original dish. Very old school white tile bistro vibe."

"This is an affordable, fun lunch/brunch spot to dine with friends. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was quick as well. Did not look fun if you did not have a reservation though as it was quite packed with people waiting by the bar. The potato chips with blue cheese fondue was very good for an app. Fattening but good."

"I have been to The Smith many times and have not been disappointed. With a group of 3, our table was quite small, though, so that was a little disappointing. We were seating right away, even though there was a bit of a line, which is always nice. The Smith is a go-to place for me, especially when I have friends visiting from out of town. The food is great and the prices are fair, with a good wine list and fun cocktails.
The brussel sprouts are always a must get."

"The Smith is always a great place to go when we visit our daughter who is a student at NYU. Although it is more of a young crowd, it's a comfortable atmosphere for any age diner. The brunch is always great! My favorite is the BLT +e but burgers are great too"

"I had brunch there w/ a friend. It was bustling & a little loud inside. I'm very glad we made a reservation. Another two top was seated before us even though we arrived first and had a reservation for the same time - I'm guessing because it was a mother-daughter pair? I ordered the country breakfast & would have loved it, but the gravy did not come on the side. It was drenched all over my food - I had asked for crispy bacon & though it was cooked as I requested the gravy made it on the soggy side, so I wished the waiter had picked up on the idea that perhaps this wasn't my preference. The gravy was tasty though, but there was way too much on my plate. Good value. They did try to upsell us on bread though some came w/ our meal."

"Went with a small group of 5. We were seated right away downstairs, however the downstairs event room they use for larger parties, felt pretty isolated from the rest of the restaurant. Everything was great beyond that tiny detail. Definitely glad I made reservations on Saturday night!"

"My experience at The Smith this passed weekend was as deliciously consistent as my previous experiences at other locations. The Smith has yet to ever disappoint me, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York city - and to think, it's a chain! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone."

"This place was so noisy, our group of 6 had to yell to speak to each other and that sometimes didn't work when we went for Saturday brunch. Our waiter was very snooty and phony nice and had an attitude. He refused to make my brother a plain cheese omelet because it wasn't on their brunch menu. Enough said."

"The Smith in the East Village is one of my favorite spots every time I'm in the city. Just enough bustle and noise to keep the energy up, food is amazing - the roasted brussel sprouts, mac & cheese, deviled eggs & lamb shank are MUSTS. Good drinks, cute and friendly servers, you will not be disappointed here."

"Had to wait for a table for 45 minutes although I had reservations and notified the restaurant that I was running 15 minutes late. The wait was worth it though because dinner was fabulous. While we waited the manager provided us with 3 glasses of Prosecco and our appetizer and dessert were on the house. We had a fabulous time and the staff was very attentive. Our waitress was very friendly. The cheddar jalapeño grits are so amazing."

"vibrant atmosphere, great mixologists, fun servers, great attention to detail
the pace of the meal experience was great; you weren't rushed, nor were you wondering where your waiter went; even the support staff was quick to clear a finished plate. I just loved the service especially when they know your next move before you do
check out photo booth downstairs to capture the moment with friends"

"This was my first trip to any of the Smith restaurants. The food and service were excellent, but I must say I was relieved to be seated in a booth off to the side as Sunday brunch was a mad house and I hate shouting at my friends across a table. It was nice service and tasty food, but I'll be somewhat wary about making plans to go here on peak hours"

"Some of our party were late, so I can't say what would have happened if we'd arrived right on time, but it seemed like we were waiting for the table we'd reserved, and even after our arrival it took a solid forty minutes to get seated. The hostess was sweet, apologetic, but not particularly helpful, and we got the message that they were setting up our table and it would be just a minute two or three times from different people over the course of five or ten minutes. A comped appetizer would have made my hungry father happy as a clam, but alas, no luck—though once we were seated the service was quite good. The cocktail menu was nice & the fries were great; my steak, though a little gristly, was bang-on medium rare."

"The Smith has really good food. But the noise level (and i am young!) was completely impossible to deal with. We spent the meal yelling back and forth--at a two-top! The couple next to us, who looked like they were ready for a fun night on the town, left $5 and said they were leaving because of the noise. It was a Thursday night, and was so loud we just couldn't have a conversation. We couldn't hear our server, either, when she told us the specials. We could see her mouth moving, but no sound--from 3 feet away. We liked the food, but it can't compete with other places that have as good food or better, but you can actually talk to the people you came with. We might have considered dessert, but couldn't sit there one more minute."

"Been here over a dozen times, this was by far the worst meal i've had here. Overcooked pasta and broccoli and the sausage was MIA. Seems I need to re-think my feelings about this place. The string bean app was good. The noise level was almost intolerable."

"Food was great but we arrived on time and had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Couldn't wait at the bar because couldn't get to the bar. Place was packed, so noisy, yet somebody thought it was a good idea to have music playing.
My Bloody Mary was memorably good; not too spicy, excellent use of horseradish. Would go again, but, really, don't take more reservations than you can accept."

"My two children and I dined at the Smith in the East Village on a Friday evening. I am glad we made a reservation through Open Table. The place was packed.
I had one of their passion fruit drinks. It was delicious, like a passion fruit mojito.
I had an arugula salad that was very good. My daughter had the bricked chicken with a garlic au jus. The chicken was outstanding. My son, who is 9, had the macaroni and cheese. It too, was very good.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. The neighborhood is very cool. We would definitely go back to the Smith in the East Village."
