Chez Melange
Spontaneity is the word of the day at Chez Mélange restaurant in the Riviera Village of Redondo Beach. Chef Robert Bell, co-owner, uses locally sourced and seasonal ingredients to craft a daily changing menu of world cuisine, with options ranging from pastas to sustainable fish to a bevy of pork choices. Michael Franks, front of house co-owner, will greet you with the hospitality that has made Chez Mélange a success for the past thirty years. Please also visit Bouzy, located next door to Chez Mélange. A neighborhood gastropub, Bouzy takes the best of a French brasserie, an English pub, and an American bar and grill using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. With a seasonal selection of artisan beers and many wines by the quartino, Bouzy gastropub is Michael and Robert’s idea of the neighborhood pub. Our third destination is BarComida a hidden away tapas bar, open kitchen serving small plates and nibbles in a cozy setting. See you at the table!

"We had a wonderful father's Day celebration on Saturday night. They gave us the table that we requested that was less noisy because of my husband's hearing problem. The food and service was, as always, perfect. Something very special about this restaurant is how the owners come by to personally welcome you. A+++++++"

"The soft shell crab as an entree was such a let down.after the waiter confirmed it was a substantial portion I was kinda agitated to find a crab barely the size of the lil finger & that too just deep fried. Complete rip off."

"A seafood dish in a tomato sauce that was to die for! The Caprese salad had the most delicious homegrown tasting tomatoes. The maple, pecan, cornbread was amazing! A perfect dinner for us and romantic too. Service was very friendly but felt server was a bit rushed."

"We had a very charming Italian waiter who was excellent. I had the monkfish wrapped in proscuitto which was the special that evening. Proscuitto was crisp and the monkfish was tender and moist. Delicious. My friend had a steak which was juicy, flavorful and prepared as ordered."

"We've eaten here many times and always been delighted by the creative and delicious dishes. It was fine, but the things we chose this time just didn't seem up to their usual high standards. "We had a 9:30 a.m. reservation. We arrived early and had a good chance to look around the front entrance. We almost decided to cancel our reservation. Dining area was somewhat better. Great service and food was good.

"The food and service were fantastic. The attention to detail was very notable, and the owner made a point of stopping by and checking on everything, and even let us know where and when the carrots were picked!
The server was on the spot at all times, and attentive without hovering.

"My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Chez Melange. We started with the Duck appetizer and then I had Filet Mignon and my husband had the Monkfish. All were excellent. For dessert, we had the White Chocolate and Cranberry Bread Pudding with Whiskey Chocolate sauce. Wow! What a wonderful way to finish off a fabulous dinner."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants. I love the owner and the waiters. They are so nice. The food never ceases to amaze us...we always leave happy with our experience. Not only have I been there for Mother's day brunch...which was fantastic!, we've been there for dinners and New Year's Eve dinner (2x) ==== all FANTASTIC!!! Food is just superb. "Chez Melange was an absolutely wonderful experience. I took my hubby there for his birthday and had a nice quiet lovely dinner (the back part of the restaurant). The wait staff was extremely attentive, engaging, and informative. And, the food was delicious with tender pork and chicken, perfectly done! It was nice that they had a little card saying 'happy birthday' and the staff throughout was acknowledging his birthday as well. They are well rounded with food, staff, ambiance, price and free parking (!), thus, earning their 5 starts would highly recommend it to everyone because it will fit everyone's taste, whether just a quick bite, burgers, or a nice sit down meal. perfect!"

"We are new to Redondo and I have been wanting to try this restaurant. It was awful from entering the place. The "host" let us stand for several minutes while he chatted with someone and then went outside to set a table. The small "Easter brunch" menu (not te menu that was on-line) had very few items, most were Mexican and almost all had pork ingredients. Nothing offered for healthy eating. Service was slow even though place was not full and owner was onsite. Really loud due to poor acoustics."

"I met up with my girlfriends here'& we had a really nice time here. The server was always nearby & very friendly & polite. The food was very fresh & piping hot from the kitchen. My friends had salads & I had mushroom penne pasta which even smelled wonderful! "Chez Melange is not open for lunch, so lunch is served in their casual, rather dark and shabby Bouzy bar. Would not return here for lunch. Chez Melange moved from it former location, and I don't believe the change was wise."

"From the street you may only notice Bouzy Gastropub since to enter the restaurant of Chez Melange, you have to walk through the bar and pub to another room before seeing the white tablecloths. The place is packed and even with reservations expect to wait a bit. Featured are tapa style plates rated as cold or hot small, medium, and large. The Japanese salad consisting of Persian cucumbers, seaweed, pine nuts, scallions, ginger and miso in a sesame seed dressing was killer. We ordered two and interestingly enough one came filled with delectable seaweed while the other was all cucumber with only a teaspoonful of seaweed.
