Clyde's at Mark Center
Located in the West End of Alexandria, Clyde's at Mark Center is open for lunch and dinner daily, and Sunday Brunch. Stroll by the koi pond at the entrance, and choose from a number of interesting and comfortable rooms - the Adirondack room, with its own fireplace, twig lamps and cozy booths; the Chesapeake room, reminiscent of a duck hunting lodge on the Eastern Shore; the Newport room, with decor in keeping with the yachting world; the Crew Bar with its raw bar; and the Straight Wharf Bar, with its enclosed patio and whimsical Nantucket-style decor. Dine on a bacon cheeseburger, Maine lobster in season, or Wild Alaska Salmon in the summer months. Visit for happy hour and enjoy our Afternoon Delights menu of discounted Clyde's favorites like crab dip and a jumbo lump crabcake. Serving a late-night menu seven nights a week. "Clyde's very rarely disappoints when it comes to the food. The food is a very good value for the prices the restaurant charges. Service can be hit or miss though. Tonight the service was excellent until we had to wait over ten minutes to get our check. Otherwise, the evening was very enjoyable especially the halibut special!"

"We've been going to Clyde's for many years. I've always said they have my favorite crabcakes in the Alexandria area...until now. The size has decreased and so has the flavor. The asian vegetable saute was a tiny portion of shredded red and green peppers, celery & carrot. The pommes gaufrettes were thin, waffle potato chips. All in all a disappointment on Mother's Day."

"Our overall experience was good. Going to a restaurant for the first time on such an incredibly busy day seems a little unfair for a critique. The atmosphere was comfortable and charming, wait staff was attentive and did a wonderful job given the amount of patrons. We took my 90 year old mom there for Mothers Day and she enjoyed herself so we'll be going back soon. This time for dinner."

"We have been to Clyde's at Mark Center before and had an excellent time! However, this Mother's Day brunch was REALLY REALLY BAD! Service was spotty at best, the food was cold and had been prepared hours before we got served. In fact the only thing that was warm was the plates but even hot plates could not get the cold food hot. Have you ewer had cold eggs and cold fried oysters? I am betting that you have not!
Sorry but this time Clyde's a BIG ZERO with me and my family."

"Usually I love all the Clyde's restaurants, but it seems like the food and service quality go down whenever it is a holiday. Mother's day meals were just average, and the service was sub par. I've experienced similar on other holidays at other locations. Very disappointed because on non-holidays, I have always enjoyed the food."

"My husband and I dine here frequently and enjoy the experience and the food. However, my husband recently ordered the fried fish and chips for dinner and when the fish arrived, it had a very thick coating (picture wrapped in a parka) of a mostly gummy, doughy substance which looked cooked on the outside. After he scraped it off, there was a rather small piece of fish inside. This was a huge disappointment because the food is generally quite good. On the plus side, I left my to go box on the table and someone kindly called to remind me."

"We come here a lot over the past couple of years. Most of the time everything is great, but like most restaurants sometimes it just seem not as good as the last time. But in this case Clyde's at Mark Center is different. The front of the house staff is wonderful, very friendly and will try to make the experience enjoyable . The waitstaff are very familiar with the menu. Service is very good most of the time. The menu is nice. Some of the portions are OK, while others are much better. Over-all this is a very nice place to come to."

"We arrived for our 11:00 am reservation for our 39th wedding anniversary luncheon. The staff was cheery and ready to welcome us. Everything was superb. We were in a trance about being married for 39 wonderful years and everyone made the scene continue as beautiful. We were seated in the lake room which was perfect. "We enjoyed an early dinner at Clyde's on Saturday after a day-long outdoor picnic along the Potomac. We were shown directly to our table when we arrived. Our server, Wally, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We started with two rounds from the raw bar -- a half-dozen oysters first, which were so good we ordered shrimp cocktail with four jumbo shrimp -- all very fresh and delicious. We also ordered half-portions of the caesar and wedge salads. Their special was a Kansas City Strip -- I was reluctant because I prefer ribeye -- but, man, was I glad I tried the special. The strip was so tender and delicious, I gnawed the bone! My friend loved the scallops entrée. We took cheesecake home with us. All delicious!"

"Clyde's at Mark Center is the ideal location for a business lunch or a hail and farewell luncheon. Mike was gracious and welcoming as the Maitre'd and we were seated promptly. Our server, Haley, was fantastic. She told us about the specals and gave us plenty of time to chat before ordering. Our food was excellent. Haley had perfect timing with her visits to our table and always ensured our drinks were filled. Our luncheon at Clyde's at Mark Center was to thank and say farewell to one of the members of our business unit Thanks to the outstanding staff of Clyde's, it was a wonderful event!"

"This was my 3rd time at Clyde's and I have had a wonderful experience each time! I took my mother, uncle and grandfather here for the first time this Saturday and they loved it as well. The waiter was awesome (can't remember his name, but he had big holes in his ear for earrings). He was very attentive and answered all of our questions. I told him it was my grandfathers birthday and he brought out a treat for him. It was great!"

"i really like ambience at this clyde's but the service and food are inconsistent. appetizers of mussels, clams and a salad were all very good. dinner of beef stew was tasty but too much mashed potatoes. the steak special was not so good. very tough and dry (3 of us had the entree and all agreed). even though it was medium rare as ordered. service started out great but later was practically nonexistent. we had to ask a couple of times what was taking so long for the dinner. also had a lot of trouble getting our bottle of wine. had to ask a couple of people. it took over 20 minutes. then they said they didn't have the bottle we'd ordered so we chose another and that took at least another 10 minutes."

"This was my first time at Clyde's. My husband has dined at this location while on business previously. I liked the lovely nautical decor, the hostess was welcoming, and the atmosphere was pleaseant. We had the crabcakes and they were very good. Our son, 6 years old, had chicken and he ate it all. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, the menu has great non-trational options. Lastly, I marked the restauant down in the service area because our waitress, who had a delightful carribbean accent was not firendly or attentive inatially. She eventually relaxed, but she was absolutely distracted by her personal interactions with a group behind us. We did observe another waiter who was very courteous and attentive to his guess however."

"Kansas City Strip Steak special was ok, marginal cut of bone-in meat with too much fat and connectivity tissue, was not served hot and sizzling like at high end steak house, you could tell it had been sitting on the plate for a bit waiting to be served. Half house salad served in impossible small bowl, the full house salad served in large bowl but looked half empty, probably a half salad fluffed up to try and fill larger bowl. "Our family of three enjoyed Easter Dinner at Clyde's at Mark Center. It's one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and we're glad to have it so near our home. We all had the Prime Rib, and each one was cooked to exactly the temperature that was ordered. A cup of the Parsnip Soup was outstanding as a starter. We requested a table, since one of our party is physically unable to slide into a booth. Clyde's called the day before and said we'd most likely be in the bar area, which was where we ended up. To my surprise, it was very pleasant. I've now eaten a meal in every room at Clyde's at Mark Center, and the bar may have been my favorite because of the lighting. We repaired to the "Nantucket Patio" for after-dinner drinks."

"The kids loved the koi pond and decor, and we will return for the atmosphere alone. The food was all solidly good, some was very good, but it was lukewarm, at best and that made it less enjoyable. "We went here for the first time on Easter. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. There was some noisiness from a couple of neighboring tables--people talking really loudly-that was somewhat disturbing. Not sure if they left or were asked to quiet down a bit, but the loud conversations didn't last so long as to ruin the whole meal. We had a nice meal and will definitely go back again."

"My wife and I went to Clydes at Mark Center for our anniversary celebration and we were pleased with the experience. We had been to this Clydes a number of times and it is our favorite place for "fancy" nights out. The food was great as usual but we were a bit surprised at the appetizer that we ordered. We had the Pork Belly Sliders, and the mini sandwiches were so spicy that we could not taste the pork belly in the sandwiches.
The rest of the meal was perfect, my wife had the rockfish special and I had the meatloaf. We recommend Clyde's at Mark Center highly for excellent food at very reasonable prices and great service!"

Two of us followed with the Rockfish special and two enjoyed the scallops - no complaints there either, in fact - we were all delighted with our entree and the style of preparation. "My friends and I meet at Clyde's for dinner fairly regularly. This past Sunday, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day having dinner at Clyde's Mark Center. Unlike our past experiences, we have two complaints: 1) we waited at least a half hour for our meals to be delivered and 2) the corned beef was dry and we were given very little cabbage. To be fair and consistent with our other experiences, the other (2) meals, that were not corned beef, were excellent and the waitress was very pleasant."
