Clyde's of Georgetown
Located on bustling M Street in the heart of Georgetown, Clyde's is open daily for lunch and dinner, and late-night fare, and serves weekend brunch. This popular saloon has been a gathering place for Washingtonians and out-of-town visitors since 1963. A moderately priced seasonal American menu and friendly and efficient service in a comfortable atmosphere make it a great place to catch up with friends at the bar over a beer and a Bacon Cheeseburger, or sit down for a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake or Filet Mignon dinner. Stop by on Sundays and enjoy our 1/2 wine list all day. Or visit our two bars during happy hour Monday-Friday for our Afternoon Delight menu of discounted appetizers, sandwiches and salads. "We just love Clyde's of Georgetown, for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It is a definite favorite! We recently went there for a Father's Day brunch - the huevos rancheros are absolutely fantastic! The servers are always knowledgeable, friendly and accessible. The atmosphere is old-fashioned, traditional, part tavern/part restaurant, lots of brass, lots of wood, a very long bar at the entrance. Comfortable and classy. For dinner they have great crab cakes and herbed chicken (which my husband always orders - and is never disappointed), among a wide variety of other items - all delicious."

"We celebrated the end of school with a terrific dinner at Clyde's. The salmon special this month is really delicious. The fish is really well prepared. I requested mine served on a bed of mashed potatoes and my husband had the standard preparation. We both really enjoyed it. Our son always enjoys the delicious cheeseburgers. It was a really fun evening. Clyde's is such a Georgetown gem."

"Took my wife to Clyde's as part of a weekend anniversary trip to DC, and the staff at Clyde's made a simple brunch special. They provided flowers at the table, made us feel welcomed, and everyone wished us a happy anniversary. Beyond the hospitality, the food at Clyde's made the trip excellent. Good service only helps a restaurant as much as their food lets it, and the food is elegantly tasty."

"Whether you want a burger or an upscale seafood entree Clyde's is the restaurant for you! In the heart of Georgetown there is no more authentic experience for the area. There are always reliable standards on the menu as well as exciting culinary creations! The monthly specials are always worth a try. The service is responsive and friendly. Clyde's is also a really good value for the money and the area as well. The Hangar steak is a winner along with the halibut which is featured this month. The blueberry crepe is a new addition to the dessert menu and it was delicious."

"Being in the Georgetown area has its own appeal and Clyde's definitely adds to that. The many varied greens for the salad were very fesh and all grown within 150 miles and the halibut was cooked to perfection with a golden crust while still being buttery and moist. With two bars to boot it is a great place to add to your itinerary!"

"My parents were in town for graduation, and I wanted to show them Georgetown without it being too expensive like going down to the Waterfront. Lobster bisque was too salty, but decorations and "preppy" ambiance was just what I was looking for to give them the "D.C experience." Two tables had babies so it was a little loud, but there's no helping that. Good experience overall, the bread is good."

"My son, his date, and two other couples, all seniors at a local high school, made reservations and ate dinner at Clyde's before prom. They were greeted by a very kind and welcoming host and seated in an area with a nice view of georgetown. The server welcomed them and shared information on the specials and was attentive to their dining orders and requests. They dined on Ravioli with Ricotta and Fresh Herbs and Grilled Lamb Steak, just to name a few.
I've always been a fan of the Clyde's family of restaurants and was thrilled that my son and his friends have had such a wonderful time and share in that view.
I will make a point to visit the Clyde's of Georgetown and encourage friends/guests to seek them out when in the area."

"Clyde's is not fine dining, but it's the best most solid meal you can get around. You can always have a cheeseburger, some of the best in the neighborhood, or be adventurous and try the fish and chips, which are equally good. I would highly recommend, especially for a business lunch or a more casual date or to watch a sports game at the bar. Or it you're craving a burger."

"Clyde's used to be a go-to place for us would-be hipsters. It has now succumbed to coasting on its name and location. I ordered the salmon salad -- just lettuces and dry sliced radishes dumped out of a bag, nothing added except the salmon. Appetizer mussels bland to the point of tastelessness but sauce was good. "Overall a nice time. We went for Mothers Day. We had to change the reservation a few times and they were very good about it. Service was good, and we also had a birthday. Clyde's provided a brownie sundae -- free of charge! The only thing that was a bit off is that the prices seem a bit high for portions -- the corned beef hash was delicious but about a third more would have been good for the price, and coffee was surprisingly expensive. However, we will go back."

"Clyde's has a great Sunday night special: 1/2 price wine. This is the quintessential Georgetown restaurant. Nothing is more authentic. The best burgers in Georgetown are found here. The service is always really good. It is great to come here on Sunday night because it starts your week off great! The crab cakes are really good. If you are a tourist you owe it to yourself to give them a try!"

"I brought a group of 6 clients to Clyde's last Wednesday night and was quite pleased with the overall experience. Service at the bar as well as through our waiter was solid but the food definitely carried the day. Our group had everything from the crab cakes (a 10 of 10!) to burgers to the fish special and everyone was very happy with the quality."

"My daughter and i came to Clydes after a Cherry Blossom tour. We had a great, menu knowledgable waiter. He was very attentive to our table. We both ordered omelets and Belgium waffles(without meat). It was a tad annoying when our food came out to see bacon sitting on the plate. However, it was quickly taken care of and we received a fresh plate. Although the mix up was clearly not our waiters fault(he's not the chef), he was very apologetic and our drinks were on him. I would definitely frequent Clyde's as it was a nice atmosphere with very attentive staff."

"Clyde's of Downtown is very reliable and is consistently very good! One of my go to restaurants. Reasonably priced, excellent service, I love going to Clyde's. I have been there a number of times and never had a negative experience. This last time, I took guests to their brunch on Sunday. Plenty of choices on the menu. Our party of three all enjoyed their respective dishes. I had the omelet which was cooked to perfection with a great selection of ingredients all included in their price.
The rustic look to the place adds to the enjoyment. The bar is well equipped with a very large selection of beers which I occasionally take advantage of. Go. You won't be disappointed."

"Although the wait was long (despite having a reservation), the entire experience was good. The service was terrific and surprisingly calm and attentive despite the huge crowds of people. The food was excellent- good quality and decent prices. You pretty much get what you expect (no culinary surprises) but no complaints either."

"We had a wonderful meal! We had special dietary needs( one gluten free and on peanut/tree nut free)and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate. The food was amazing. I had the steak. The sauce was perfect and the steak was cooked just right. My husband had a burger, which he devoured in record time. The kids grilled cheese was a great size and the bread looked home made."

"The tables are way too small as we had a party of 4. We never got bread as they ran out...it was 6 pm and they ran out. We had a calamari appetizer that had less than 10 pieces on the plate. For our main dish I had scallops that had a very good taste but only came with 2 1/2 scallops. The vegetables were charred and could not be eaten. My daughters kids pizza was still frozen. It just was a bad restaurant. We were excited because the night before we are at their sister restaurant old ebbits grill which was very good ."
