Le Rivage offers you a cozy, romantic French country atmosphere where traditional French cuisine is expertly prepared for your pleasure. Fresh flowers embellish each table. Prices are delightfully affordable with incredibly rewarding selections; a true bargain in the heart of the theatre district.
"I dine here every visit to NYC, and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent, and I have had almost everything. One of my favorites is trout. Friends tell me the frog legs are great also. This is a great find, and for NYC, the prices remain reasonable. Do try the peach melba for dessert."

"For a pre theater meal this worked well. It is a really small place that needs to be redone . Saw a large roach leaving the bar area upon leaving. Always convinces me that there are cleanliness issues. Would not return for this reason."

"I loved this place. I took my mom to a broadway show for Mother's Day and made this reservation just because of proximity and french foo is her favorite. The place was small, and quaint but the food was excellent. I tried the baked green Mussels, and they were delicious. We decided to try somthing different since its rarely available in most menus. so we tried the frog legs and the sweetbreads. Frog legs were under seasoned, but the sweetbreads were the best I have ever had. Mom agrees. I would go back just for that. The desserts were also good. Staff was very friendly."

"Le Rivage is an oldie and goodie. There is nowhere in the theater district you will find better quality food at such a friendly price point. Dinner was excellent. the restaurant looks a bit tired, decor-wise, and I do not know how they can serve that kind of prix fixe dinner for that price."

"Friendly and gracious service in a comfortable setting on Restaurant Row, convenient to theaters. Perhaps best of all is the fact that the very reasonable prix fixe meal allows choices from the entire menu, not just a restricted selection."

"The food is consistant and perfect. The four of us ordered different dishes. The duck was crispy and fatless. The trout was spectacular as was the Beef Bourgogne. This is a place where you can count on impressing a friend with thier newest favorite restaurant."

"Dined at LeRivage for the first time recently. Had lunch before a show. The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant is small and the tables are close together, but that wasn't a problem. Service was very good. The food was ver good. The prix fix menu was a very good value. I would definitely dine there again."

"I dine at Le Rivage every trip to NYC. Everyone I have brought here loves it. It is my favorite French restaurant in NYC. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I have tried just about everything, and have never been disappointed. The veal is tender and wonderful. We also enjoy the fish preparations. My friend loves the frog legs. I especially like the escargot. Dessert is always great, peach melba!!"

"As usual, we were extremely happy with our experience. We have eaten here at lunch many times but this was our first dinner. I brought a new group of friends here and, whenever I'm squiring people into the city from Philadelphia, this is my "Go to" restaurant. The service and food are impecable and the host and hostess are always so pleasant to stop by and ask how we are doing.
LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!! JoAnn McCausland"

"Ate here twice within five days on a visit three years ago. Will be doing the same thing this trip. Very charming interior, staff very pleasant, recognized our server from 3 years ago, food is excellent, the fixed price menu has great choices. Wonderful liver and onions. Do not leave NYC without eating here!"

"I've been bringing friends and family to Le Rivage for special dinners for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. Most recently, last weekend I brought two friends who have adventurous palettes and discerning tastes ... and we have a wonderful meal. From delicious potato and leek soup, to refreshing prosciutto and melon, to start ... to wonderfully light, sauteed chicken cutlets in a variety of sauces, to shrimp scampi, to fresh vegetable ravioli, everything was fresh, light, and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, the service accommodating -- you feel like you're in a French country home, right on Restaurant Row in NYC!"

"After the theatre crowd has departed (we arrived about 7:35), we were seated at a very comfortable table, and were immediately approached by a staff member still catching her breath from the pre-theatre rush. We told her that the rest of our party would be there shortly, and asked that we be allowed to dine leisurely. The menus only had the prix-fixe listed (that made us happy, as that was a prime reason for selecting Le Rivage, and we have had many occasions when a restaurant would advertise a prix-fixe, but would only supply diners with the regular menu). The selection, for $25, was very wide and delicious, and just as importantly, our server asked if we were ready for our mains, or if we wished to wait. That is service! And only $25!"

"Old world charm decor, friendly and attentive staff, not too noisy, tables not too close together, tasty food, and fantastic value. I will absolutely return to this restaurant. My husband and I dined here for our anniversary last Saturday evening and it was a very positive experience. We were pleasantly surprised all the way around."

"Had pre theatre dinner with family in this quaint Parisian restaurant on restaurant row. Nice wine list as well as cocktails. The menu is varied with a wonderful selection of fish, meats and poultry. Both the onion soup and leek soup very good. Mussels in garlic sauce was outstanding. The trout almondine was delicious, as was the shrimp scampi. Enjoy dining here each time we come into NYC for a show as it is conveniently located in the theatre district."

"Absolutely wonderful pre-theater dinner. Meal was tremendous and timing absolutely impeccable for getting us through price-fix 3-courses with no sense of rushing. Yes, ambiance a bit dated but it did add that sense of romantice ambiance. Owners made special effort to rmemeber it was my partner's b-day celebration, making it that much more special. Highly recommend!"

"Having rushed through many pre-theatre dinners in the theatre district, I had always herd that the price fixe $25.00 meal at Le Rivage was one of the best kept secrets around. Guess what?? It is absolutely true --each night after 7:30, they offer a $25.00 per person for 3 courses including coffee. More than one dozen appies -- we had terrific Artichoke heart salad; lobster bisque, duck terrine and celery root remoulade. Mains consisted of monkfish; shrimp, and lots of classic bistro dishes. More than 16 dessert choices, coffee and a nice bottle of an inexpensive Bordeaux completed the evening. Add to that excellent service, a quiet dining room and a wonderful soundtrack of French favorites (Stephen Grappelli, Django , etc) and you can'"

"Over all & Service are OUTSTANDING (the stars did not work for this listing and could not get the 5th star to stay) As always a wonderful time. Had a friend in from out of town and a group of us all get together. This was the 2nd time we have done it at this wonderful place. The $25 prix fixe menu (from 7:30pm daily) is one of the great bargains of the city - and in the theatre district. It is a 3 course with coffee/tea from a very large selection in all 3 categories."

"A pleasant evening spent with family at another restaurant row classic. The pâté and frog legs was true to French form and the steak with Demi glaze was very tender. Avoid the crepe for dessert but enjoy the warm beard pudding. The service was nice and informative of our choices and also explained the pre-fixe dinner. Will return for another helping of the frog legs and to try the veal."

"My wife actually went with my daughter. They said it was as if they ate in 2 different restaurants. Her meal (duck) was fabulous. My daughter had the monkfish with lobster sauce and said it was horrible. She also didn't like her poach pear desert."

"This is a friendly pre-theater restaurant on "restaurant row" in the theater district. The food is quite good at a reasonable price. However, without taking anything away from the establishment in terms of the food it serves, its most significant value is to theatergoers. It serves very good food in a pleasant and efficient way in comfortable surroundings without making the diner feel rushed, and reliably gets him or her to the theater before the curtain goes up -- with time to spare. The service is graceful and informed and the experience enjoyable, allowing one to relax and forget that there is a deadline looming, but your server doesn't forget."

"A group of nine is not always easy to accomodate, nor is it easy to satisfy food preferences, service, etc. to everyone's satisfaction. However, I must commend Le Rivage for our group experiencing a wonderful meal and gettogether. Our server, Eva, could not have been better. She was accomodating, patient, and very professional. I have enjoyed many fine meals at Le Rivage over the years, and as usual, they did not disappoint."

"I was with a party of four. We ordered the price fixed theatre menu. The appetizers were excellent. The entrees were superb. All four entrees came out together. My fish looked like a duck and it was! I had to wait while everyone else had there dinner. I was asked if everything was alright and I said I was waiting for my entree that an error had been made. Since we had the price fixed menu dessert was included. The restaurant could had offered an after dinner drink for the inconvenience. The table had two botttles of Rhone wine at the cost of $40.00 a bottle. The bottles actually cost $10.00 each. So the restaurant could have sprung for an after dinner drink!"

"The prix fixe menus offered a wonderful selection of choices. The quality of the food was very good. In spite of it being a "french" restaurant, the portions were very generous. The service was excellent and in spite of having theater tickets, we did not feel rushed. The only negative we found were that the tables were extremely small but in the end it did not matter. Would definitely return and recommend to friends."
