Il Sogno is an upscale Italian restaurant located in the heart of the historic DeWaal Block in the community of Bridgeland just minutes away from down town Calgary. "I've always loved Il Sogno but was a bit disappointed with this visit. Not with the service, which was lovely, but with the food. The quality just wasn't as top notch as it has been previously. The radicchio salad needed either more pear, or a sweet dressing to counter the bitterness of the radicchio. The halibut special was perfectly cooked - nice crust, soft moist fish, but was underseasoned. Other diners echoed my "good but not fabulous" feeling about the food."

"The restaurant was great and the atmosphere was great and our waitress was very knowledgeable on all the food that was brought to the table. The food was good and even tho we had ordered the chef special and had no clue what to expect for our courses it was great. I would deff go back."

"Food was excellent. Menu was creative. Decor and ambience were very nice. Service was mostly good - waitress was a bit slow with refurbishing wine - didn't really seem to get it. And once we paid the bill - forget about any chance of water refills."

"The calamari appetizer was quite good,the cauliflour fritters were doughy.
Caprese salad was very good but on the small side for the price.
My main of scallops and pork belly consisted of two smallish scallops and a piece of pork which was 1" X 1" X 1.5" accompanied by a third of a cup of white beans of which some were still hard. Needless to say I was still hungry when I left and I'm not a huge eater. I will not recommend this restaurant for this reason. I'm really tired of paying big bucks, $400 for four diners, and leaving the establishment hungry."

"Very good, but somehow a little disappointing. IMHO needs a makeover before too long. Not many customers - always a bad sign - esp on a Friday night in a booming city. Been here many times before but I think its gradually losing its sparkle. Needs the "Ramsay treatment" to raise its standards to meet higher end market expectations. Its a tough business."

"Il Sogno was great. My boyfriend and I have been here before and were blown away by the service and quality of food we received on both occasions. Our reservation was for quite late at night on valentines day and I credit the day for the reason why the restaurant was as noisy as it was. The first time we went it was very quiet and few people were dining at that time. Would highly recommend; we ordered the chef's special both times and it was definitely worth the price on both occasions."

"We were SO excited to finally make it to this resturant unfortunately, it was disappointing:(
The appetizers and service was amazing!!! Dinner on the other hand was disappointing (we had the lamb) it was cooked to perfection as far as being tender however, too bad it had no flavour. Thank goodness there was a little bit of glaze around it and salt on the table otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to manage the few bite that we did have. My husband loaded his with salt and pepper to get through it as he was starving. I couldn't do more then a few bites.
We had a lovely evening as far as a romantic sitting only wish our dinner experience was just as lovely:("

"I love this restaurant for lunch. It is not too busy, has amazing food. I often come with a friend, order two starters a pasta and a main and we split them all for some wondful, varied favors.. I have the waiters pick the wine pairings and it seems fun for them and great for us too."
