Ruby's is a brilliant gem in downtown Rye. It is chic, casual and comfortable. It charms guests with its varied menu, friendly and professional service, and its lively ambience. Ruby's stylish décor showcases an authentic zinc bar from Paris, beaded chandeliers and ruby red drapes. From its coffered ceiling and tasseled sconces down to its marble mosaic floor, no precious stone has been left unturned.
"I've been to Ruby's a few times, never a bad experience, the tables are a little close together but it was busy since it was Mother's day. The food is amazing and the service is always great! We were a little late for our reservation and they were very accommodating. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and are very knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend Ruby's!"

"Service was too rushed. The restaurant was not packed, but, they didn't bring bread until we asked, the drinks had just arrived when our appetizers showed up and we were finishing out appetizers when the main course arrived. Not relaxing. I really like the bistro feeling and the food is good, but, I don't want to be hustled just because it's a special day. You could feel the pressure to turn the tables."

"Our group of 4 arrived a few minutes early so we had a drink at the bar. And as people tend to do you eyeball the others waiting and mark your spot on line. After we were waiting about 15 20 minutes another group of 4 came in. The father of the family was annoyed that they would have to wait, and told the hostess he was going to the place down the block to see if they could get in there. Low and behold they are seated two minutes later! I approached the hostess and asked why they were seated before a few other groups of 4. I was told they have reservations, well so did we I replied. After a 45 minute wait with reservations we were finally seated. The hostess sent over two appetizers to make up to us. Not sure how quickly I will rush back."

"Lobster quesadilla ! Need I say more? Yum! My salmon was cooked perfectly. The waitress was very nice as were all the servers. I was able to secretly bring in a cake for my husbands birthday and they bought it out and served it to us. The hostess was very accommodating to this special request and even let me pick out the table I wanted to be seated at beforehand. They also have an upstairs room which is quieter. Only complaint is that the tables and chairs are a bit small!"

"the food at ruby's was quite good. the service and atmosphere - not so much. i made reservations using open table and specifically requested a quiet table as we were dining with an elderly person. not only was the table absurdly noisy, but i found out once we were there that had they seated us upstairs - it would've been much better.it would be nice if they'd at least pretend to pay attention to accommodating requests. also would be nice if they'd try to soundproof the place."

"Ruby's is one of our favorite spots for brunch. The food is reliably excellent and the staff is terrific. Our waitress was one of the best we've come across anywhere. It can get a little noisy and the space can get tight but it's definitely worth those small inconveniences. We have to come here sometime for dinner too."

"A very lively restaurant! Unless you have a table in the middle of the room...the perimeter dining set up with bench seating against the wall...you are elbow to elbow with the people sitting on either side of you. So if you're looking for romantic dining with conversation, this won't be the place, but..it's a fun, lively place with great food. Go with friends!"

"Food was delicious, but had a table in the back half of the room on a sunny day (one of us squinting, the other peering into the dark) and had a surly waitress who didn't hide her displeasure that it was restaurant week."

"Oysters from a variety of Regions are great. Steak salad and a variety of seafood dishes are presented wonderfully, without pretensiousness. Servise was prompt and friendly."

"We went to Ruby's and chose from the Restaurant Week menu. The food tasted great and had a great presentation. There was a small mix up with dessert but it was taken care of, the staff was visible and wanted each patron to enjoy their meal. Reservations are a must, we were there early on a Thursday and by 8pm it was much busier."

"Date night with husband at least twice a month at Ruby's which never disappoints. We enjoy the atmosphere and the food. We would like to see a more of a variety of Merlot and what about bringing back the pork or lamb osso bucco. See you in another week. Good luck!"

"The food was good, but not excellent. The prices, however, are comparable to most of the high end restaurants in the area. The cost is too high for the value."

"We were kept waiting over 20 minutes, despite our open table restaurant. They seated us in a strange table in the corner, one person had to sit on the end and the other three on the sides. Despite that, the food was pretty good. Beet salad was fantastic. I ordered the sole and asked for no butter. The waiter did not tell me that the fish was basically a fish stick that my child would eat (would not have ordered this and the menu did not say that). So I split my dinner with someone. They had the grouper which was lovely in a provencal olive sauce. For dessert we had chocolate fondue which was yummy. Overall pretty good, I would recommend despite these issues."

"Ruby's was a great evening out. The fish specials were outstanding. Even if I wasn't sure that I wanted a buttery or creamy sauce they were light enough to be a welcome surprise. The waiter was very attentive and wonderful with our daughters requests. Very nice wine list. I didn't care for the espresso Martini that started the night off but I also didn't say anything. Overall a terrific experience."

"We had a great time at Rubys for valentines day. The food was amazing and the service just as good. My wife and I brought out 15 month old son and the staff and fellow patrons could not have made it more enjoyable for him and us. I would recommend Rubys anytime."

"Although "oyster" is in the name, Ruby's has a very varied menu. Four of us dined, all ordered different entrees, and all were happy with their choices. Portions are quite large."

"A bustling and energetic bistro. Our table was ready and we were seated exactly on time in the type of space requested. Pretty amazing considering the liveliness of the place. Waiter was friendly and welcoming, but a little hovering and anxious to get our orders placed quickly. Once our orders were placed, all was well. Food was fresh, perfectly presented. Fresh tuna pizza and a side of little neck clams were great starters to share. The tuna steak was a peppery, crusted treat. No pressure to leave, just a willingness to have us enjoy our experience. Well done evening! Thank you!"

"Ruby's is a casual, welcoming and reliable restaurant that feels trendy because of the decor, crowd and the menu. I eat there about once a month, and never had a bad experience. I love the seafood, burgers, and salad."
