"I have dined many many times at Rocca's and never had a bad meal. I was very disappointed at this visit on Mother"s Day. They had a selective menu, probably because of Mother"s Day, but that is not a problem. It appeared if the prices had been raised, which is a common thing usually on special day dinners. I have no problem with any of this, but the food was inferior to it's usual quality. I usually get a side of spaghetti with the veal. The waitress said it came with mashed potatoes and would not substitute the pasta. It is always never a problem. The waitress kept pushing us to order instead of letting us enjoy our drinks and appetizers. Very disappointing."

"I took my mother here for Mother's Day, and the food was fine. I had the gnocchi with the tomato sage sauce, and the gnocchi were definitely from frozen and the sauce was just ok. My husband had a ravioli dish, and he felt the same about his food. The bread in the beginning and the dessert at the end were definitely the highlights. We shared the tuxedo cake, and it was absolutely fantastic.
The atmosphere was nice, and my mother enjoyed herself a lot. I probably wouldn't seek this place out again, but I wouldn't object if someone wanted to go, either."

"This was my first visit there and my husband and my mother and I had a terrific dinner....better than Joe's of Westlake. I love veal scalloppini and I usually have it in whatever Italian restaurant we go to...but that has changed for me...now I'm only going to get it here...it was amazing. The caprese salad and the calamari were terrific too. The calamari had a spicy red sauce and a white sauce had a real kick to it too. (wasn't expecting that from the white sauce...was expecting tartar sauce). The rigatoni that my mom had was thoroughly enjoyed and my husband loved his halibut (one of the special the night we were there). The dessert was yummy too. We are definitely going back there more often."

"We went for mother's day brunch. The food was good with nice sized portions. They could have actually been a tiny bit smaller and still been OK, but no real complaint there. It is a relaxing atmosphere with very attentive (but not intrusive) service. While our meal was an early one with our 9 year old son I could easily see this being a good place for a romantic date later in the evening."

"Nice surprise, this little gem in Burlingame. We live in the north Bay and do not know the Peninsula restaurants very well. A friend recommended it b/c we were meeting a friend who had traveled from Fiji and she wanted some decent Italian food. Rocca did not disappoint. They had to ask us to move tables mid-meal b/c they had a large group coming in. We moved and they comped us glasses of prosecco. Nice touch. Very pleasant wait staff and delicious food. We would definitely go again - with the friend who recommended it."

"Have dined here multiple times and food generally very good. Out of their special on this night, the Ahi and seafood pasta dish which is usually excellent was just good."

"Very disappointed with our experience at Rocca last Friday evening. (4/26/2013) I had a Beet Salad that was 90% lettuce. Seriously, there were no more than 5 or 6 small slices of beets in my salad. I then had your risotto and it was dry/firm. The flavor was ok but the texture bad. Then for dessert I had the bread pudding. It was good but I had to actually get up and wander for any waiter to give me a spoon. Seems the Warriors Basketball Game stole service from our table. Glad the Warriors won but Rocca definitely did not for us. It really is a shame. We were trying to impress some friends that evening and chose Rocca to be a highlight. It was not."

"Hosted a dinner party there. Was upstairs, plenty of room. Nice food, prep was nice, flexible for some kids meals, and decent value for the quality of the food and atmosphere. It was my first time, but other guests had been there frequently (more of a Burlingame Ave. than Broadway crowd), but were happy to eat there. So overall a solid experience and will go back for just the two of us."

"My wife and I have a Friday night date tradition, and with a choice of all the restaurants in the mid-Peninsula area, we always seem to find ourselves back at Rocca. This is a family run restaurant with a difference: consistently excellent food, always served fresh and hot, attentive service, a nice wine list with remarkably good finds starting around $30. Of special note is the seafood and anything with the chef's special spicy marinara! The ambiance is lively because Rocca is always packed, but not so loud as to be obnoxious. Enjoy!"

"We make a reservation and was rather disappointed to get a seat that is facing the front door. Whenever the door open, cold winds is inevitable. Can improve patronage by giving patron who reserved a better seat. Great food though, so we may consider returning."

"I took a group of nine (originally 12) to dinner for my mother's 70th birthday. I went there on the recommendation of a co-worker who lives in Burlingame. The people who own/work in the restaurant are very gracious and very patient. We had a couple of people in our party who couldn't eat certain things and the restaurant was very accomodating of special requests. The waiter suggested an excellent seafood pasta for me with mussels, fish and prawns as an alternative to the crab-stuffed lemon risotto, which they were out of. I'll definately be returning to try to get that dish. The alternative dish was excellent and a little spicy. The service was top notch. Better than I have had in many restaurants that were far more expensive."

"The food was good but not great, especially loved the clam chowder but for the price you can go elsewhere. If the price of the entrees could have been $5-$10 less, we would come back."

"I was pleasantly surprised with this gem of a restaurant. I took a friend who is far more discriminating than me and she was impressed. I heard of this restaurant from people who work at the airport and found some gift cards at Costco ($79.00 for $100 value) so I thought I should try it. It was a delightful surprise. We were seated in the upper balcony and the noise was minimal. It gets very busy and every table was taken. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable - very attentive. Will definitely return. Thank you!"

"An unexpected gem for Burlingame. This restaurant could hold its own in SF, but has some of that local-town family-run charm too. The decor, service, ambiance, and food are all a cut above what you'd expect on Broadway without being stuffy. A comfortable local town favorite."

"Yummy fish entree! I don't like a lot of oil and this restaurant is happy to grill the fish and change around the side dishes to suit my taste. That said the food is still incredibly flavorful and delicious."
