"Gibsons is a famous place located in the most expensive restaurant real estate on earth. They deliver a solid old fashioned steak house experience, but not more than that. The dinner salad at Outback is better. The steak quality is outstanding. It's tight, and crowded but you might rub elbows with a sports hero or Hollywood star. If you want a steak go to Gibsons. If you want an excellent meal, Chicago has mbay better choices."

"We came and tried gibsons because according to web comments
It had great steak and it did. We ordered a porterhouse 26 oz medium cooked that was tender and delicious.
The waiter on the other hand, i dont remeber hos name but he was uptight cero friendly and acted as he was doing us a favor by serving.

"The service was excellent. The food was only okay. It was nothing special. I go to steakhouses whenever I travel, St. Elmo's in Indy, Jeff Ruby's restaurants in Cincinnati, frog bar next to Gibson's, etc. and am always blown away.
Gibson's did NOT blow me away. The steaks were tender and well-prepared but all other appetizers and sides were not special in any way, if anything they were just average. (My broccoli was cold, would not melt the butter) I do not expect to pay $50 a plate for average. We ate it, it filled me up but I was left wanting...

"Celebrated our son's graduation at Gibson's - just the four of us. Loved the food and the service was fast. Perfect for family occasions so the younger members don't have to sit still too long. We didn't have wine, but I'm sure you could slow down the meal if you do. We did have Moscow Mules which were excellent. I will go back to gibson's whenever I am in Chicago."

"The Gibsons Steakhouse has its name and obviously rightly so. The meat is really something - my daughter went for the 10 ounces well done filet mignon while I chose the 14 ounces rare medium (my wife was in a mood for fish which was great too). Steaks were cooked just to perfection. The waiter was a professional and skilled fellow, but the overall service was not as friendly and cozy as in the neighbouring Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish House. Actually we we warned before, saying that Hugo's serves the same meat as Gibsons, they share the same kitchen, but the service is better at Hugo's. Well, we wanted to try and they were right. But no regrets, the overall experience did not really suffer....."

"Historically, Gibson's has been my favorite steakhouse in the U.S. On this occasion, I was entertaining a client. Everything started well, but the entire evening was rushed. Our steaks came out before any of us had finished our salads. I asked that they take my steak back until I was ready for it. When my bone-in strip came out about 10 minutes later it was medium well, after I had asked for medium rare to medium. A manager came over with a new steak and a complimentary twice-baked potato, but I left the restaurant with a bad taste in my mouth from a restaurant that typically has top-notch food and service."

"My wife and I met my cousin and his wife, who were visiting from Toronto. We wanted one of Chicago's best steakhouses, since this was their first trip to Chicago ever. Everything was great. We were seated right away (with reservations). The steaks were outstanding and the service was outstanding. Our guests were very impressed. I would highly recommend Gibson's to anyone."

"My husband took me to Gibson's on our recent trip to Chicago, celebrating my 40th b-day.This was my first time in Chicago,he had been to Gibson's about 20 yrs ago. It is definitely a Chicago gem. I loved the restaurant,the atmosphere,all the people that work there are very friendly, our waiter was excellent, and most definitely the food is outstanding. The filet mignon is one of the best ones I've ever had. You can't go to Chicago and not go to Gibson's, it's a tradition. My husband said,after 20 yrs, it's still one of the best restaurants there."

"The food was good, an excellent piece of steak. Maybe we picked the wrong night, but given it was a Friday it lacked a little atmosphere and the birthday celebrations the waiters did for those celebrating birthdays felt a bit contrived.
The best bit of the night was the pianist in the bar who was excellent and had a great patter - a bit of experience!"

"Gibson's was fantastic! We were seated in a booth in the perfect spot, just as we had requested. The food was superb. Filet mignon and Chicago cut prime, bone in rib eye were the best we have ever tasted. Split the potatoes, servings are huge! Our waiter was entertaining, attentive and made wonderful suggestions from the menu, everything was excellent."

"You may be wise to skip a meal (or three) before you go. The portions are huge, but the seafood is fantastic and their steaks are truly out of this world. Even the lunch portions are enormous, so plan on sharing your food I highly recommend the crab and avocado appetizer, and I would say any steak on the menu will be truly extraordinary. Gibson's has its own USDA Prime rating, and their beef quality and flavor is no joke. End your meal with some pecan pie and Chicago's best vanilla ice cream."

"Stopped into Gibson's with a group of four before an 8 PM show. Steaks were excellent and the service was wonderful. We had a great time! Cocktails and oysters before dinner were tasty, and our server gave a great recommendation on a full red wine to go with the meats. "Went in to Chicago, met 8 friends there and took them to GIBSONS. The service was very attentive and well defined. The food on the other hand (steaks in particular) was really not that great. They were not bad, but they were not what is advertised. I have had better at a chain restaurant. Next time I am trying MJ Steakhouse."
