"We picked Polo to dine prix fix for Savor Sarasota week because it is close to home. Unfortunately, this restaurant did not live up to it's reputation. There were only 2 selections for each of 3 courses.(other restaurants had 5 or more) Portions were small.. My asparagus springroll fell apart on trying to eat it, my skirt steak entree was tough, and the grilled pineapple with chocolate dessert was not only cold, but consisted of only 1/2 ring of pineapple and 4 raspberries. The other gentleman in our party sent back the kale salad as inedible. All the 3 others in our party of 4 ordered the seed crusted salmon, which was small, thin, and way too heavy on the seeds. For $100 per couple, this meal was not worth it in any way."

"We have repeatedly tried to like Polo Grill since it is 2 minutes from our house but food is always inconsistent -- sometimes it is stellar and other times it is awful -- and service is poor at best. Last night our server came around after we were half-way through our entrees, and with an empty wine glass in front of me, proceeded to completely ignore this fact and walk away. Previously when I went for lunch, pinot noir was served in a chardonnay style glass and when I asked for a proper red glass was told that the reason they do it this way is that most people don't know the difference!"

"This truly is a neighborhood gem. For dinner I had the Herb Roasted Boneless Chicken and it was delicious, tender and flavorful. My husband had the Surf & Turf and he had a choice of filet size which was a surprise. His was cooked to perfection! Both dishes had interesting and tasty sides."

"This was our first poor experience at Polo Grill after multiple sucessful dinners at this Lakewood Ranch restaurant. Very dark for daytime dining with problem magnified by bright light shining through front windows into my wife's eyes. We were seated at a small two person table at the rear of the main dining room. It was too close to other tables and had a view of the kitchen. We were told, fairly rudely, that there was no other table available, even though there were multiple empty tables in the dining room."

"We ate there with the family and one of our sons friends who were meeting some of their other friends on main street. The meal was very good and out waitress extremely attentive and nice. They allowed us to move outside later while waiting for our boys to finish up. Very enjoyable atmosphere both inside and outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend."

"We have eaten at the Polo on several special occasions; usually they have a special menu and the food as always been good. The Easter Brunch was a disaster...it was crowded you couldn’t navigate between the tables they had set up and the wait staff was disgruntled and vocal about it. There was one line to the buffet and it was 15 or 20 minutes just to get started. There was no traffic control and only one side serving. The meat selection was good the sides were limited and for the most part cold. The salad bar was the highlight of the buffet and the only thing that they keep well stocked. The dessert bar that thy touted in their ad was limited and wiped out and the ice cream girl was over whelmed. It was very disappointing to spend 35.00 a"

"We had the first appt available. They were NOT ready to seat at the 1030 time - the servers were just finishing their morning huddle. Once seated, our server saw us immediately. Being told to go to the Buffet, we found it was not ready. Food was still being set out, no utensils on many items. I don't know if there had been a problem that morning or if it was just poor planning.
The food that was there was very good, the meats were dry, bland or cold (we tried the lamb and prime rib) they ran out of Belgian waffles causing a line to form. They had an Omelet Station, fruit and several desserts and cookies. Noise level moderate, louder as the day wore on. Back to Micheal's on East next year!"

"We enjoyed the food and ambiance at the Polo Grill. We especially enjoyed the service provided by our server, Jeff, who went out of his way to make this a memorable occassion for our family. The food selections were impressive with the exception of the boneless chicken. I am sure that it was well prepared, but the seasoning was not to the liking of the person who ordered that dish. The Chilean Sea Bass was extraordinary as were the short ribs and steak."

"We were greeted by a friendly hostess who took us promptly to our table. We immediately found the atmosphere to be extremely noisy as the acoustics do not provide an environment to "soak up" the loud chatter. It was our anniversary dinner evening. Our waiter was pleasant, professional, and prompt. The food was prepared quickly and delivered to our table hot and delicious. This was our first dining experience with your establishment. Perhaps we'll return if we're not looking for a quiet, romantic setting. Afterwards, we went to the bar for cocktails and music. While the entertainment was good and kept the interest of your patrons, the quality of air was VERY poor. We had to leave after the band's first set due to bad smoky air quality."

"We had Valentines Day dinner here with another couple. It seems as if the restaurant had overbooked or at least that they had under estimated time that people would spend. A regular table was not available for us at the reserved time but we were offered a special room where there had been a cancellation. In the end we were very pleased to have the separate private room, because we could close the door and shut out the din. Our waiter, although admittedly new, did his best to serve us and make us fell very welcomed. The food was very good. We plan to return on an ordinary day when the restaurant is not so busy."

"Went there for Valentine's day with my wife. It was terrible. The food was fair at best, they crammed in extra tables and the atmosphere was awful. Although our server was very nice, the overall service was fair at best."

"Our second trip to the Polo Grill for Valentines dinner. Prix fixe menu had good selections, though might have been better to have skinless fish, but the server did inform us prior to ordering. We both chose the beef wellington and it was outstanding. Very good salad and appetizers and dessert sample tray was good. A good meal at a fairly reasonable price"
