"I eat at Filomena pretty often and always enjoy it, after my last experience with some iffy service I was glad to get a more up-to-standard waiter this time. The food and wine is always excellent, I tried a new dish this time and wasn't disappointed. I even re-heated the leftovers the next day and it was still good."

"The NY & NJ area is known for having the best Italian food in the United States. Filomena Restorante of Washington DC is equal to the best in the NY metro area. I travel to DC at least once every year and Filomena's is always one of the reservations that I make during my stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the DC area. My favorite meal is the shrimp risotto with lobster cream sauce. The restaurant is always so willing to please their customers that they add scallops & lobster to the dish upon request."

"I am overall a great fan of this restaurant, I've eaten there many times over the years and recommended friends as well as clients. It was very disappointing for me than to visit this past Sunday and not get the quality service and food I am accustomed to. While waiting for my table I heard the bartenders get into a loud argument, very unprofessional.
I tool my wife for a mother's day dinner and what should have been a great celebration was ruined by really bad service and subpar food. It's Mothers Day, you know it'll be busy so be prepare, that simple. Server was rude, acted as if he were doing us a favor. Asked for my steak med. rare and got it well done. The prices were the same as always, service & food should be also."

"My husband & I went to Filomena's while recently vacationing in DC. A friend told us we "must" go there. We have never been more pleased with a recommendation! From the moment you walk in you sense you are in for a treat. I wish I could remember the names of our dishes, as they were unbelievable. I had black pasta with seafood and my husband had a stuffed chicken dish. Make reservations in advance and look forward to your time there. As our excellent waiter said, "Pace yourself." Despite being beyond full we shared a chocolate caramel cheesecake that put us over the edge! In a good way. We can not wait to return!! Best food ever."

"My wife and I took her mother there for an early Mother's Day dinner. Our reservation was for 4 o'clock and as we walked in a few minutes early it was obvious they were running behind. The main host was very pretentious and only responded to an aggressively rude gentlemen that demanded to be called "Dr." when he was addressed. Not only did his party of three get seated before us, he also got the window he repeatedly said he should get. So, I guess the moral with the host is to be as inconsiderate as them and they'll reward you. As for the food and waitstaff, it was amazing. Great servers, amazing food. I can't recommend the food enough. The calamari appetizer and the lobster linguine were the best I've ever had."

"Host and servers very professional and add a personal touch to their services, a bit pricey but generous plate portions, which are large enough to share, and a complimentary Amaretto or Sambuca cordial is provided as well. Ambience allows for casual to formal attire, and they can accommodate large parties. I would have rated the service higher but we found out later that part of our order we could not finish never made it to the "Doggie Bag" as we had requested."

"This was the fourth time at Filomena's, I took my wife for Mother's day and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing as usual, everything I've ever tried there is top notch. The service was very good. The noise level was fairly loud but it's a testament to the good time people have there."

"The pasta is to die-for and the desserts are the best I've found in DC. They're a bit on the pricey side (most pasta dishes are in the $30 range) so it is a special-occasion kind of place. "We had a fantastic evening at Filamena, from the time of entering and seeing the mammas making the fresh pasta upstairs we enjoyed every monment there. We were a party of 4 visiting from England who arrived very early and they took excellent care of us, we enjoyed drinks in their bar area while we were waiting , then went on to enjoy a magnificient italian feast, so much so that none of us could eat any of their desserts which was a real shame because the looked scrumptious.
I would suggest that anybody who goes there doesnt eat for a week or so before hand.

"Went here because I'm gluten intolerant and heard they had gluten free pasta. While the overall meal was good/decent and the service was acceptable, for the price I expected more. Ordered steak with crab and a side of gluten free pasta with vodka sauce. Again, steak was good but not great and pasta was ok but not great. Vodka sauce was tasty but only lukewarm. Service was professional but not prompt. Wine was good but not anything to write home about.
Highlight was a flourless triple mousse cake that was amazing.
Sounds tacky, but honestly Maggiano's in Friendship Heights was a significantly better experience, both overall and from the GF perspective. Probably won't return."

"I had a lot of fun here. I went on a romantic date and I was glad I was able to hear my beau over the rest of the ambient sounds and diners. The food was great! "the atmosphere is a little outdated and cramped, but the food makes up for it. Portion sizes are large that is should cover lunch the next day too, but it is so good you find yourself not being able to stop eating. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for some great italian food!"

"The food was excellent. Family members had pasta and all loved it.Hubby loved the squid pasta which is difficult to find and apparently even harder to make. I had the branzino special with polenta and the fish was quite possibly the best branzino i ever had. Cooked with the skin on and the flesh was moist. Calamari and mushroom apps were delicious and not overcooked as so often happens in a busy place. Wait staff was knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing--we did not feel rushed. The only negative is that it is very small and dark and extremely noisy. Definitely not for a romantic night out."

"Late night meal was met with outstanding service and huge portions. You can easily split a pasta meal. we split a salad. Halibut was good but a bit overdone. Pasta meal was good but heavy. Sauce good. Really outrageously huge dessert options could be made less. Complimentary sambuco. REALLY LOUD when full house and evidently big on birthday crowds as we heard happy birthday song 4 x in :30! Would we go back? Meh."

"We were visiting DC and lucked into finding this place. The food was outstanding and the menu was extensive. Lots of seafood. They make the delicious fresh pasta right there on site. It was loud and fun. The waiters grouped together to sing Happy Birthday to 3 customers while we were there. We would definitely go here again!"

"Filomena always delivers exceptional service and delicious food. I have been here many times, and the consistency and high quality dining experience keeps me returning. The bread selection at the start of the meal is warm with several different choices. Food arrives in a timely fashion--quickly enough but without the feeling like you are being rushed. Best Italian in the city for sure. Authentic, rich flavors. The hospitality is welcoming, and you are always given Sambuca or Amaretto at the end of the meal."

"Filomena was amazing crowded on a Monday evening. We started with calameri and spinach-stuffed mushrooms. Both were delicious, although my girlfriend thought her squid could have been more thoroughly fried. I got the "marriage" of raviloi and meatballs while she went for a lamb dish. Both were delicious. We were astonished by the number of children there until we got the bill and discovered how reasonably priced Filomena is for a Georgetown restaurant."

"I went to college in DC so when returning for a 1/2 marathon Filomena's with it's pasta maker in the window seemed like an obvious choice for a pre-race dinner. I was disappointed by the entire experience. We ordered risotto balls to start- they came out cold and the cheese in the middle,which is supposed to be gooey and melted, was a room temp block. My boyfriend got the penne with sausage which was inedible-the penne tasted like it came from a box and wasn't fully cooked (not aldente, raw). I got the squid ink pasta with seafood and found it nauseating. The table next to us was furious that their full meal was served in less than 30 minutes- they felt rushed by the service -not an elegant dining experience. Overpriced for food quality."
