"Our dining experience was just so-so. We had to wait almost a half an hour, even though we had reservations. The restaurant was very nice about it, though, and gave us a round of complimentary drinks. The meal was good, but they forgot our salads. Once again, they were very nice about it and gave us extra dessert and the dessert was free! I think the problem is that the restaurant is over-booked, making everybody too busy to remember the details."

"The food was good. Make sure your wallet is full when you enter. The server was trying to rush us and the restaurant was not packed, so we had to slow her down. Felt pressured to eat fast. We all ordered cocktails and wine and one of our guests ordered a a beer which was brought in the bottle with a lemon sticking out of it. BAD... Of course after he asked for a glass they brought one, but that was the first impression when we sat down."

"It was our 1st time at the Melting Pot and while we found the food good and interesting, our service was less than stellar. Took more than 10 min for us to get water. Then our waitress misquoted back our first course, we corrected her and still we got the wrong fondue, and not the misquoted one, but something completely different. And again we had to wait to get more water and she never came back to check on us."

"We normally have an exceptional exp at this restaurant, so we planned a girl's night w several ladies from work who had never been there before. The first thing that was a bit unsettling was the rude manner in which the hostess (a preganant woman who I think was also the manager) spoke to us. Once seated, the poor service continued over to our bartender / server who was condescending, seemed put out to serve us, and also very rude. When we ordered a cheese that was new to us, she acted like we were stupid for not knowing it was Swiss. When the fondue was prepared, that pot was horrible -- tasting like straight vodka. We asked her if it was supposed to taste that way and again she spoke to us as if we were stupid was unhelpful."

"I was not impressed by the food or quantity of good for the price. Our bill was for five people yet we only recieved food for 4 people. For 250.00$ I would have had a much better meal across the street at ruth's Chris!"

"I have been to the Melting Pot 4 times now and have had a decent experience, not great but decent. The atmosphere is more appropriate for a romantic dinner instead of a large party. Food was ok...the beginning (cheese fondue) and end (chocolate fondue) were the best part...we could have done away with the main course. Usually the service is good but for some reason our server kept missing in action for a half hour at a time...terrible service."

"Went to try the Big Night Out - Pacific Rim Edition. It left both my fiance and I breathless - the entire meal was over the top. They were happy to prepare the cozy nook for our meal with flowers, balloons, and rose petals. This set the ambiance for the entire evening and we were unbelievably happy with the food. From the start, to the finish - a 5 star experience."

"We had a great dining experience for our 25th wedding anniversary! A rose was at the table and a scroll with 1985 events for our wedding date. The food was good, and plentiful... we brought another couple and shared "The Big Night Out" with an additional 2 salads...and there was plenty of food! Getting used to the flow of cooking your dinner was fun and added to the evening. Our server was excellent! We'll be back!"

"Our first experience was fantastic. Our waiter, Jeremy, was funny and very helping with deciding on the menu. We overheard a waitress at another table giving the same speech they all give about the restaurant and menu except she sounded boring and not very interested in entertaining the guests. This made me think it may be hit or miss next time with the service. But our waiter was perfect so we had a wonderful time."

"First time here. Came to celebrate wife's birthday. Paid extra for the flower petals and candlelight dinner which was a nice touch. Food was good, smaller portions, but deceptively filling becuase of the heavy cheese and chocolate. Definitely can't eat this everyday, but nice place for specaial occassions and big groups. Quite pricey, but enjoyable experience except for the service. Started out great and by the end became very slow. Like 20-30 min waits for water refills and paying check. I think the layout of the restaurant doesn't help, and maybe they are understaffed. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. Good food, good ambience, but pricey for amount of food and super slow service."

"Great place for a "non traditional" and enjoyable dinner. It's a must for an occasional dinner. Service is very good and responsive. The only problems we've faced is that some parents who decide to bring children do not advise the children to keep the noise level to a polite status. The children, because of the "non traditional" nature of cooking and the food tend to run around and scream in a manner one can expect if the children believe the facility is similar to a pizza restaurant. Parents should monitor their children and management should advise families bringing children that they should be monitored."

"I loved the restaurant and the food was amazing. We did end up waiting for our next courses and the waitress was very nice but didnt really explain very good how the menu worked so we ended up surprised at the end with the huge bill, Since it was our first time . "To celebrate a close friend's engagement I took her and her fiancee to the Melting Pot. I wish I could dine here once a month unfortunately it is not in my budget.

My friends had never done fondue and for and extra $35 they added some fabulous Rose Chandon sparkling wine and a free photo. The restaurant accomadated my vegetarianism although some strict vegetarians would probably not enjoy their produce possibly mixing with some steak or chicken.

The meal was fabulous and we agreed to try to crash there for desert (we opted for the Cookies and cream option) someday in the hopefully not too distant future.

I loved how we could enjoy the meal and the conversation."

"It is definitely worth ordering the four cours Big Night Out for a leisurely and fun evening. Just the right amount of food since you are sharing. You are able to make substitutions of the cheese and desert fondues as well as the salad offerings. The restaurant placed a birthday card greeting at our table in celebration of my daughter's birthday and treated us to glasses of champagne during dessert. The service was great! We brought a special bottle of wine and paid their standard $20 corkage fee.
During our last visit to the Melting Pot on Christmas Eve, we participated in the restaurant's donation drive for St. Jude Hospital and received $20/couple gift certificates to use during this and other future visits."

"As a first time visitor the menu is a little confusing. Once we figured that out the meal was fun and enjoyable. Service only fair from our server. We did observe the server at the next table was excellent, just the luck of the draw we didn't get her! Made reservations through Open Table and noted we had 2 birthday celebrations. When seated there were 2 birthday cards on the table. Nice touch. Although the restaurant wasn't busy we were rushed through the meal with both the server and a busser continually coming to the table asking to remove plates and food when it was obvious we were still eating. I don't know if the automatic gratuity contributed to our lack luster service or not. He made the same money, nice or not."

"The Melting Pot in Irvine was a delicious experience! My husband & three young children had an absolute blast. The waitress explained everything perfectly. The food was very good as we sampled culinary items from tasty cheeses, veggies, meat, seafood & poultry. The different broths were unique in itself and made each food item stand out. The wholesomeness of family sharing & the experience of being "chef" for a few hours was fun. We had great table conversation & we ended the night with smiles. In my opinion, The Melting Pot in Irvine is what you make of it. It can be a night for romance, family fun, a place for great conversation & "cheek twinging" chocolate dessert yumminess! But whatever you make of it, you will definitely do it again!"

"Went to The Melting Pot in Irvine for a special occasion (my fiance's birthday) and had a fantastic experience! None of us had ever dined at the restaurant before, and we were all very impressed. Our server did a great job explaining the menu to us in detail. We ordered the Spinach/Artichoke and the Fiesta fondues to start- both were amazing! For our entrees, we chose the French Quarter and the Signature Selection, with the Coq a Vin and Mojo cooking styles. Between the two, we had filet mignon, shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage and vegetables. Again, all of the food was outstanding. For dessert we chose the Pure Milk Chocolate fondue, which, no surprise, was also amazing. We had a wonderful experience at the Melting Pot!"

"The food was very good but we were not satisfied with the service. We went on New Year's Eve and I understand it was a set dinner menu.
I had two teenagers ages 17 and 13 and a 9 yr old. Our first course was served and we asked the waiter regarding the teen and children's menu. He stated he does not discriminate anyone and the children were served with adult menus though he changed it after the first course. Looking at two of them, they did not look like adults at all. I understand about the 17 yr old but wouldn't you ask the ages of the children? The waiter was a little rude in the beginning and didn't explain much about the menu. We saw other waiter and waitresses that were giving excellent explanation of the menu."

"Great food and ambience, as usual. I was NOT happy, however, with their bait and switch "promotion" concerning a "gift" card we had purchased from them several months earlier. When we bought the card as part of a fund raiser, we were told that we could use it just like a gift card. When we tried to use it along with their "birthday" coupon, however, we were only allowed to use one "promotion." So, Melting Pot, even though I will undoubtedly return in the future, was the loss of my good will really worth it?"

"I came here for my birthday and was really cool. They made a cool paper on thre things that were happening during my birthday. The appetizer and desert were really good. You have to cook your own food in your broth of choice. I wouldve preferred to have a someone else cook it."

"The service that we received was unacceptable. Not only did we have to wait over 20 minutes after we ordered our dessert fondue, our waitress did not give us the time of day. I will not be coming back to this restaurant. If you aren't there to spend a lot of money on their four course meal then you are not even given the time of day. If you're not willing to spend a fortune on a tiny amount of food then I recommend finding a better place to eat. I bet the service will be better as well."

"My 8-year-old daughter requested this restaurant for her birthday dinner.
She thinks it's great fun to cook fondue style, and loves that it takes
