"It is nice to be able to dine in the neighborhood in old world elegance similar to what my mother ( 85) was used to years ago at the St. Regis without all the fuss of going to midtown. The service and staff are most accommodating and hte feeling is relaxed, familiar and wonderfully destressing!!! I would choose a table on the periphery of the room next time as it is hard to hear for some elderly
in the middle where the other tables in the ceter are so close. Also it's been ages and I usually travel with my husband who takes care of the bill so I was caught a bit off guard by the split gratuity between captain and staff. Guidelines please for next time!"

"The waiter and head waiter were abysmal. Twice they forgot all of our orders, appetizers, entre and deserts. The head waiter or ?manager was very loud and gruff. If we had not had guests, we would have asked to cancel our orders and departed, it was that bad. I eeat out five times a week, usually four star restaurants, I get better service at a deli than the Carlyle. All our dinner party agreed. Two had perfect entre's two of us had pitiful shoe leather tasteless Kobe (doubtful) steaks. Bruce"

"The Carlyle Hotel is simply the best hotel in New York City, and the restaurant is completely consistent with that. Everything is effortless and sublime. We go there whenever we are in the city, and we are treated like old friends. Truly, the golden age of New York City is alive and well at this unique establishment. Long may it reign!"

"WE thought that the place was nice, romantic,and decorated accordingly. The flower center piece was lovely. The food was great, My wife had the lobster bisque soup and i had the cesar salad as appetizers. I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a white wine( after the bar could not make her initial request of a Pina colada. My wife ordered the Lobster and I ordered the Grouper With spinach on the side. The food tastes great and the service was great as well. WE were comfortable with the price for dinner since we knew that the Carlyle was a fancy restuarant. I felt that charging me $22.00 for a glass of wine was a little too excessive. I would definitely patronize this restaurant again; but i would go somewhere else for pre-dinner drink"

"My salad (beets w/ arugula) had 1 small beet cut in quarters, arugula had bruised leaves, dressing UN-distinguishable. lobster thermidor was delicious for entree.
waiter reached over my husband to remove my plate rather than going around, very bad taste for carlyle restaurant. Coffee was not rich and flavorful as I expected. Dessert of profiterole was very good. I will choose another restaurant in the future for a "fancy evening" in the future."

"An amazing journey to the past--old-world decor and menu, with very personal service from the excellent staff. We wanted a quiet romantic setting, and this was perfection. We were seated at a tufted banquette, comfortable and elegant and enjoyed the classics--starting off with escargot in garlic butter, savoring a truly wonderful bisque followed by chateaubriand for two and wrapping up with creme brulee and chocolate souffle. The wines were perfectly matched, and the stories of the past shared by our waiter topped off the evening perfectly. We felt ensconced in elegance!"
