"Cool place. Little expensive for food offered.Can make service better.. like offering a sweetdish with the thali.. more generous quantiy of rice and stuff.. food is good.. but there are better places for sure.. overall a nice place to be.. but surely not the best in any.. "This was my first time there and the food was as good as advertised and priced lower than I expected. Not true for the wine, which is really pricey, such as $46 bucks for a moderate sauvignon blanc. One further caveat. While very tasty, the chef has a heavy hand with the salt on some dishes. However, I do recommend it and will visit again."

"The service, food and atmosphere were wonderful! My mother and I dined for Sunday brunch during graduation weekend. As this was our first time, I had limited expectations, however as soon as we entered, we were promptly greeted and seated in a wonderful location. The buffet was incredible and the champs was fabulous. Warm bread was brought to our table and the chicken sauteed with spinach was the best I've had in Europe or the US. Definitely a keeper and a welcomed addition to your DC foodie list!"

"This is a nice spot for Sunday brunch. The space is beautiful, and this place serves some of the best Indian food I have eaten in the US. The brunch is not elaborate, but there is a good variety of Indian foods, and fresh naan delivered to your table. There is a very god selection for vegetarians. Service is attentive."

"Being a first generation Indian, I know I am very good judge of the quality of Indian food since and this restaurant is no doubt right on the money. Every bite was amazing! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to spend a little more for a really wonderful classic Indian meal. The service is also impeccable!"

"Ambience in restaurant is good. The live piano music was satisfactory. The service was great. The dessert was good. But, the food was average. This might be okay if the.price was average. But, the price is above average. Thus, I would question whether this is the best deal in town. Still, it is a safe decision if you are in a pinch as to where to go for a special occasion."

"Fantastic food -- however, they did mess up our order and brought the wrong items. They quickly remedied the problem so it wasn't a big deal. When it came to the bill, they had charged us TWICE for the 2 dishes -- one for the right order and once for the incorrect order. Again, they fixed it.
Arriving at exactly 8:30pm -- we were told our table will be another few minutes. However, we did see at least 4-5 open tables. Regardless, after getting a drink and waiting for 15minutes -- I went up again and asked for the status and the new host replied by saying it was ready the entire time and thought we were running late.
Service lacks the attention to detail required for a premiere establishment. It's a shame b/c the food was delicious."

"When my friends invited me to the Bombay Club, I have to admit that I was less than excited. I am not a fan of Indian food, I do not like too spicy and I really dislike the taste of curry. However, I must admit that I am a big fan of the food at the Bombay club. Everything we ate was extraordinary. I don't remember any of the names but you should definitely try something they have crispy arugula and spinach that is to die for. The best part of the mean was the desert. You have to try the mango crème brulée. It is the best I have ever tries (and I am a sort of a crème brulée connoisseur)"

"I took "foodie" friends from NYC on my first visit to the Bombay Club, so I was understandably nervous. I needn't have been. It's an elegant restaurant, but the prices are surprisingly moderate ($17-$22 for entrees). The wine list is very good, and the waiter was knowledgeable about it. Dinner was well paced, and every food choice "clicked," from chick pea fritters to my plate of "Delhi street food." The duck and Tandoori chicken were succulent, the naan was delicious, and the three chutneys were a perfect accompaniment. The only off note was waiting at the door while the host gave extensive directions to someone on the phone. (Can't the phone be handed off to a helper?) But he apologized, and we were off and running on a perfect evening."

"At first, we were denied a table because we didn't have reservations. We looked around the restaurant and noticed at least 16 open tables. We walked outside and OpenTable found available reservations all evening. So, of course, we made one and then walked right back in. Clearly, the restaurant host needs to treat walk-ins better, but at least there's a way around it.
The food here is a mixture of traditional and slightly non-traditional Indian food ... it was excellent. The table service was also excellent and had the right balance between attending to our needs and not being intrusive."

"The food was good, typical Indian. The problem is that it cost about twice what it should or would have at any normal Indian restaurant. I understand there is a premium associated with a nice, white table clothe environment, but this went a bit far. We eat Indian regularly and know the difference between exceptional and typical Indian food. The former is worth whatever it costs, the latter not so much. This was without question the latter. Not bad, not great, just ordinary."

"The food was uniformly very good, on a par with sister restaurant Rasika, with similar prices. The service, however, was not great. We arrived on time for our reservation and, although we weren't seated for at least 30 minutes, nobody apologized or offered us a free drink despite their tardiness. It took another 25 minutes for them to take our order. Then one of our entrees didn't arrive until we had finished all of the other entrees. No real apology for that either. When we got the wrong dessert, unfortunately it was no surprise."

"Everything was delicious. Definitely on a different level from the typical neighborhood Indian restaurant. I'll be interested to see how Rasika compares if I ever get there. Be warned that the ambiance is a little on the formal side, however, I think it's a nice change of pace from other popular restaurants."

"We were pleased again with great Indian food, drinks, service, and pleasant atmosphere with live piano and lively conversation in background. DC was crowded with cherry trees in blossom around town. Although the restaurant was nearly full on a Monday night, the staff were in good spirits and did not seem overloaded. We were glad we had made a reservation and arrived early, however, to get our preferred table. Bombay Club has become our favorite restaurant when we come to DC on business. We certainly will be back again!"

"I've been here twice for their Sunday Brunch and if I could afford to go every Sunday I would. Fabulous food! Just took two of my friend's for their birthdays and they were raving about it all of the way home. You know you're at an awesome Indian brunch when 75% of your fellow diners are Indian!"

"Bombay Club is a restaurant I save for very special occasions, the excellence there is special. On my last visit, from the moment my date had her chair pulled out for her and was assisted as she sat, I was reminded that this was no ordinary restaurant. I found each of the veggie dishes I tried to be exceptionally tasty - corn mushroom samosas, garlic & onion naan, dal makhni, lemon & rice with cashews. The ambiance inside is special, the live piano music adds an elegant touch. My date had had a very long day at work, I watched her demeanor change over the time we were there; afterward she remarked that it was the best Indian restaurant she'd visited in DC and how she had enjoyed her time there. I second that."

"Brunch at the Bombay Club is to travel to another time and another life. It reminds me of the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong and The Rock in Gibraltar - reserved, elegant and very British. Here the food is seasoned perfectly and the aromas match the intensity of exquisite flavors. Add champagne, a piano playing softly and valet parking - the Bombay Club is my first choice for brunch in Washington."
