"I really like the wine taster where you can get three 2.5oz glasses to try as a combination for a reasonable price. Then you can order the one you like. Very nice. The appetizers were interesting and very good. The dinner menu was varied and interesting with many choices for beef."

"As soon as you walked in, the smells & the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was top notch. Since that was our first time there, our server had the chef prepare a tasting board of appetizers for us. Everything was delicious! Great experience! Will definitely go back...and have already been recommending to others!"

"For those who love wine, their selection is terrific. Plus, you get to sample the daily wine feature when you are seated. The food was superb and very quick, as my friend and I both ordered a pasta dish. Which is great when going out during the lunch hour. Overall, I'd go to Escoba again!"

"Had supper here on a Saturday night at 7pm, we had booked a reservation online earlier but the place wasn't overly busy at that time anyhow. Had a nice little spot at the open window with view of the street. Food was fantastic and the service was great too. There is a parkade less than a block away with cheap evening parking. I would for sure recommend this place for a couples dinner out and I hope to return sometime again"

"I chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner based on the menu and good reviews. My husband and I often have different tastes in restaurants but we both agreed that we would definitely be back, based on the quality of the food and the experience overall. The prices are very reasonable. The ambiance was very relaxed but energetic and even though the front windows were open on a rainy evening the temperature was very comfortable. The best part was the dessert sampler."

"This is a great downtown restaurant. I usually go for lunch and it's excellent. This time, my husband and I went for a Friday night dinner. Street parking is free after 6pm; it was easy to get a reservation and it's centrally located. I loved the romantic atmosphere. The wine list offers great variety without being pretentious. I absolutely love the service here - the servers are well trained, have been there a long time, know the menu well, are willing to offer suggestions about food and wine and best of all are well dressed. (I intensely dislike having to view cleavage, midriff, too-short skirts and waitresses hobbling around on stiletto heels) My favorite dish is the spring rolls - perfection!"

"I've been here a number of times and have the same issue - good food but the restaurant seems to be perennially understaffed. There's always a few people waiting to take you to your table, but then it takes forever to get someone to come and take your order. The food's arrival then takes longer than average also. Would I recommend to go for a noon reservation? Only if you didn't have to be out of there by 1PM - plan on being at least until 1:20 or 1:30. Will I keep going? Likely, but again only on days when I have the flexibility to do so from a schedule perspective."

"There are some great combinations listed on the menu and i had a hard time deciding. It was my second time there, in the past 2 months. Both times that food was good, but seemed to be shy of the potential it could have had. I had the duck/prosciutto pizza. It was on the saltier side, which i guess would be expected. The duck was really dry - more of a "pulled" duck style meat on it. The crust was more the consistency of store bought naan than pizza. We split the spring rolls and crab cakes. The spring rolls are baked, which is nice, but it makes the wrapper very dry. The crab cakes were typical crab blended together with other ingredients - would be nice if there were actual pieces of crab in them."

"The food is excellent and the service is good. The table are very close to each other (too close); I went there for dinner with my wife on a Friday evening (6pm), the only thing we could hear for 1 1/2 hour was the 4 women at the table next to us complaining about their work... It might be a good place to go with a group of people and have few drinks, talk loud and have a good time but not very appropriate for a couple that just want to have a nice quiet dinner...

"I have been to Escoba for both lunch and dinner and in my experience they routinely offer top quality service and food. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable and everything I've eaten there has been very good. (I also enjoy how at lunch, Escoba offers a wine to sample!) I once organized a large (50 person) group event at Escoba and the management and servers made the evening run smoothly. I was impressed that they did not try to oversell us but actually gave useful recommendations about how much food and drink we would need and how to keep costs down. Throughout the event they kept us informed about the tab while ensuring everyone had enough to eat and drink. The event received lots of compliments from our group."

The food is fantastic; appetizer platter is simply amazing and the ahi tuna entree is the best in town. They have a beautiful wine list. Most of all the service is second to none. "Escoba has a fairly intimate and quiet atmosphere and the food and service are always great. The menu hasn't changed for a few years, but they do everything so well that it hasn't been a problem for me. Usually when we go it's not overly packed, which keeps the atmosphere so nice."

"Ambience is great and generally food is great and a wide selection on the menu. Wine list is very extensive and not in a rush to push you out the door. Great for a romantic evening or all around group dinner. My only disappointment was my wife ordered tenderloin Medium and it was cooked rare she noticed after cutting and eating a few pieces. Waitress offered to take it back on a side plate and cook it some more which she did.I ate my dinner which was great and she ate everything else on her plate until the steak came back more cooked to her liking. In my experience most places wouldat least offer a new steak or at least a free dessert or special coffee. I was quite displeased that no effort was made and this left a bad taste in my mouth :)"

"I had the tiger rose pasta dish and it was served rather quickly. Overall, it was a tasty pasta dish and I enjoyed it. My friend had the Chicken and Chorizo pasta dish and he quite enjoyed it as well. I would definitely come here again for lunch. I haven't gone for dinner before but it's definitely I'll need to do."

"Dined/tried Escoba as part of Calgary Big Taste Week. The 3-course menu selections were great. The food was excellent! Tasty, fresh, cooked to perfection and wonderfully presented! Great value due to the fact it was dining week with fixed menu choices. However the restaurant was extremely loud and noisy and our table was on the path to the kitchen. Too much hustle and bustle because of the all the Foodies Uniting! But enjoyed the experience!"

"The server was extremely rude - she was opinionated and made derogatory comments for simple requests (e.g., a request for hot sauce - "should you not try it before you destroy the food with hot sauce"). The server also stated "you are taking too long to eat, should I bring the dessert out now." She was rushing, and inappropriate. Because of our server, we did not like our experience at Escoba. I will not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant."
