"The service was very poor. I do not know whether it was because the waitress was waiting on other tables or she was just an efficient person. I had to go and ask her to come to take the order couple of times. Before we ordered dessert, she promptly asked us whether any one wanted coffee, but never brought the coffee which was ordered. I love the restaurant because the food comes in quickly and the quality of the food is great."

"This is my second time at this Mastro's location and once again the food quality was excellent. All of the steaks ordered in my party were cooked just right and the food was served hot. The lobster mash potatoes are greatly recommended. The service was good too but I've had better at other establishments. We made reservations and walked right to our table. I would definitely visit again."

"Our Mother's Day dinner couldn't have been better. We choose Mastro's Costa Mesa for a little change. We usually visit the Ocean Club for special dinners. Upon arriving, we never have to wait and were seated immediately even though we were early for our reservation. The restaurant was crowded as you would expect for Mother's Day. Although crowded, the noise level was remarkably quiet. Our waiter showed up right as we were seated with menus and dining suggestions. The food was exactly as ordered and I would suggest the filet, though my girlfriend would suggest the veal chop. The lobster mashed potatoes were wonderful.
Overall it was a perfect meal with perfect company. Great dining experience and I will definitely visit there again."

"Don't have the opportunity to go to Mastro's too often - only for a very special occassion now and then. It's not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for when you go to Mastro's. The service and the food are are all amazing! Can't recommend it enough for that special occassion."

"All the food was way way salty, over seasoned - even bread. Ordered medium rare, and it cooked about right. Had to drink 5-6 cups of water because meat was over seasoned and too salty. We gave a little comment on the food, and our server's attitude! couldn't believe we are getting this kinda service for $$$ price."

"Very upscale dinning. The food / drinks were alittle pricey but well worth it. The lobster mash was awesome. And the steak was probably the best I've ever had. Cost was 200 for 2 with 3 drinks, I feel it was worth it. For a special occasion I would defiantly do it again."

"My wife ordered the filet and I got the bone in rib eye (chef's cut). Both were cooked perfectly to order and the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. The steaks are very generous cuts, so there is easily a second meal to be had from the leftovers. We were celebrating our anniversary, and our waiter was so kind to bring us a complimentary slice of chocolate cake. It was a wonderful meal!"

"Eventhough our server was very nice, our service wasn't 100% for the price. I noticed tables being weight on very fast however we had empty plates for about 10 minutes in our table. We had a party of seven and don't know if tables are to be picked up after all guest finish their meal. I just felt that we were placed in the back burner."

"We were we surprised at our experience here. Everything outside M's suggests a high-end experience. You know, suit and tie occasion. The food and portions will not disappoint. The cost was entirely expected as well; no complaints with either. In fact if you want to complain about price just go somewhere else, because yes it's on the expensive side of dinner. We felt the quality of the food was worth the entry fee. The shock? Service. The servers were good. The chain-like canned drink, to appetizer to main dish to desert speech wherein everything one could see on it was described in glowing terms was a shocker. Really, truly, an experience we have had at such locations as Friday's. May go again, but um, maybe not as well. Wow."

"We were disappointed with the location of the table - right next to the entrance with half of our party's chairs in the aisle - much to close to the hustle & bustle of the staff. It was hard to relax and enjoy the beautifully prepared meal. The staff was attentive, but not very knowledgeable about how the various dishes were prepared or whether there was anything special about what they might be marinated in - or not. The info we got was basically, "every meat has the same rub and is cooked similarly". I'm sure our overall impression would be better if we had been out of what felt like the "traffic lane"."

"We always dine with Mastro’s for special occasions, and this time we came in to celebrate two birthdays. The food was impeccable, the presentation with the seafood tower was quite amazing, and service was excellent. Linda was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to cater to one of friends with multiple food allergies. "We were seated 20 minutes late for our reservation, we were starving after a long day in the area and probably no longer in the best mood, but our server quickly put us back in a great mood. She sincerely apologized for the wait (which quite frankly happens) and told us to pick any drinks on the menu and she would buy them for us -- it was a nice touch and much appreciated. The service here is always top-notch and well the food ain't too shabby either!"

"Mastro's has always been my favorite restaurant! I have been to all of the locations except Las Vegas and Newport Beach. The staff is always impeccable and professional. I never wait more than 5 minutes for my table when I have reservation. A few last words....BUTTER CAKE!!"

"I dine several times a year at Masteo's - Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. While the service was great (reservation confirmation, waiter and follow up call) the food was subpar. Both our steaks were very overdone - rare was more medium and medium rare was more medium well and the garlic potatoes were tasteless - the deserts were still great as was the Mac and cheese."

"Took a friend here to eat for her birthday and everything was great. The food was excellent and the service from staff was all you could ask for. The filet mignon was so good that I asked for steak sauce but never used it."

"Mastros is by far my favorite steakhouse. I usually go to the Beverly hills location but this time I wanted to try a different location. I wish I would have just stuck to the Beverly Hills location. You have no choice but to valet since the parking lot is stopped like the 5 freeway during rush hour. I then checked in to my reservation and the hostess said they were running "a little behind". I hung out in the waiting area and saw the valet line from the entrance to the stairs in the middle of the restaurant. The "a little behind" turned out to be almost an hour. If it wasn't for rushing to my reservation from 45 miles away, I would have probably gone elsewhere since it was chaos. Food-my medium rare filet was overcooked. I felt ripped off"

"I have been here many times and the food has never been better. This is your typical high end steak house with great service and well made cocktails. Good wine list as well with prices that don't gouge too bad. The bar area is my favorite place inside with live music, but can be a bit loud for those that prefer a more quiet and intimate experience."

"I've been to many Mastro's Restaurants.. Including City Hall Grill in Scottsdale. By far the most consistent Steakhouse in the U.S when it comes to food preparation consistency.
The service as this restaurant however was unusual. The restaurant wasn't sold out however we felt pushed throughtout the entire meal. There were 4 of us and the bill came out to be approximately $600.00 however we felt that the wait service wanted to end our meal at a certain time.
When the bill came, we paid the bill and the waiter graciously brought our check back and said thank you. Then the next thing we knew, our water glasses were taken away without offering more water? Then a minute later they asked if they could take the check away.. Strange.. We left."
