"There is always a small level of concern when I visit an Italian restaurant that the food will not be authentic. I come from an Italian family that loves traditional Italian dishes. We hate sauce out of a can and "Americanized" Italian food. I was not disappointed at all. I ordered Veal Parm. It fell somewhere between very good and excellent and came in a generous portion. The house salad was also above average. All the dressings are house made and have a lot of flavor. Service was excellent, the menu is large, and the prices are fair. Overall, it offered a very good experience. I would definitely recommend to a friend."

"Our server started out a little rude, cutting me off several times as I tried to ask questions, but no way would he spoil my experience. I love this place and look forward to this food every time we come to Chicago. The server seemed to lighten up a bit and the food was delicious so it's all good."

"We went here for a very special occasion because it used to be the best Italian in town. Not anymore. I don't know what has happened....change in management?? The food wasn't that good ( except for the pasta as usual) the service slow, and the attitude poor...like they were doing us a favor by serving us. Gone is the traditional Italian feel, replaced by run of the mill mediocre attempts.
Its a little out of the way for us, and now we know we wont go back"

"You may want to consider sharing with 1 or 2 friends, the portions were massive and we barely put a dent in the meal.
Waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful but make sure to check your bill. We were there for a birthday celebration and the waiter brought us a piece of cake to share, we did not ask for this and considering we had not eaten much of the main course were not hungry, he ended up charging us for the cake ( coconut, not so good) which was insulting. Also with our large group, the waiter kept avoiding the issue of separate bills, how hard is that to do??"

"I have never had a unfavorable experience here. The food is always outstanding, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is perfect for a dinner for two. When I want quality Italian food The Rosebud is always the restaurant I prefer."

"The food and service were excellent.
The lights were too dim to read the menus and wine list; when we asked for a light the waitress recommended we use our phones. I was dining with my 94 yo grandmother, among others, and a phone isn't exactly sufficient for her to see. Nevermind though, because the menu items all had to be explained since the menu doesn't describe any of the meals. We spent a lot of time back and forth with our very patient server, as descriptions had to be given over and again. Having a more informative menu and enough light by which to read it would have helped us all greatly. Skip the tiramisu - it's not worth it.
Many of the tables surrounding us were populated by people whom seemed to be regulars. That's a good sign"

"We went to Rosebud before a Hawks game. Be sure to give yourself at least (2) hours before the game. Time to get your meal takes some time. We had a great time and a fantastic meal though. "Service was attentive and knowledgeable and prompt. Someone should go to Francesca's and learn how to make an authentic Italian caprese salad - it does not have onions, olives or red peppers!!!!! Spaghetti and meatballs were OK - sauce was terrible as if it came straight from a jar. Food not nearly as good as I remembered it from some years ago - maybe the Rush street location is better. I would come back, however."

"We went to dinner before a concert at the united center. We had reservations for 5:30 before an 8 pm concert start. We left plenty of time for a nice casual meal at a spot that had memories for us. We did feel rushed throughout the meal. With a bottle of wine appetizers and entrees we were rushed out the door by 6:30!!! Servers kept asking to take my plate! We werent even asked if we wanted dessert. That made me sad but not enough to ruin our special dinner. Please don't do that again."

"What a great place! The food is outstanding! You get more then enough food for your money. Place is very professional! Well trained staff. "We had dinner with 4 adults, 2 children and 1 toddler. Our reserved table was set up. For our tastes the lighting was too low. The server was friendly and offered suggestions of ordering family style. It helped that he made some recommendations. We ordered the shrimp of the day, which was delicious. We also had minestrone soup which was okay. The salad was very good as were the spaghetti and meatballs, steak, potatoes, and vegetables of grilled mushrooms, spinach and onions. The cheese ravioli was just okay. It seemed somewhat dry. The chocolate mousse cake was unremarkable, but the children enjoyed the trio of lemon, mango and raspberry sorbetto. We had a very nice meal, with the Sinatra like music not overpowering our conversation."

"Our first experience with a Rosebud restaurant was last week, when we were out in the suburbs. The food there was excellent---tasty and piping hot---the service wonderful, etc. So when our relatives came to visit us this weekend, we couldn't wait to bring them to the Rosebud only a few minutes from our home here in the city. What a mistake. The food took forever, the service was inattentive, and when the meal came, a good portion of it was lukewarm and tasteless. For example, we ordered the stuffed artichoke appetizer, which arrived cold and swimming in a 1/2 inch of congealed gravy, the artichoke unable to be pulled apart with the mushy, bland stuffing. The management gave us a discount, but the whole experience was awful."

"We celebrated our daughter's graduation from Rush University w/ a Masters from the College of Nursing, Chicago,IL., and what a great venue to host the celebration. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic and our wine glass' were always full. Dan and the entire Rosebud Staff did an excellent job. Thank you!"

"haven't been there for a while but it was nothing like it used to be. food was average, waiters kept bumping into our chairs, cocktails were short and full of ice so two small sips and you were done. and compared to what's been going on too expensive for what it is.
used to be great. wouldn't go back."

"We had a group of 8 adults. From the waiter introducing himself to paying the bill, everything was very timely. We had appitizers, salads, and diner. Perfect timing. Wine and cocktails were kept plentiful. Great time was had by all."

"I server was fabulous but obviously wanted to turn the table.
Said he had called us two cabs but which we did not ask for and then came back to check twice to see of I had inserted my card. We were wrapping up a nice team dinner, finishing our coffee and after the two hits about cabs and then checking again on our checks it was frustrating! Not a nice end to a otherwise great meal."
