"Food was good, but if you're looking for a nice dinner don't sit in the "bar" area. While you can order from both menus, your table may be overtaken by neighboring parties that just seem to grow. Oh, and because there were so many people, they decided to put empty plates on the seat next to us! Not what you are looking for when paying these kind of prices. Why did we get seated in this area? Yes, we had a reservation but were told the people occupying our table just hadn't left yet - 30 minutes after reservation time. Not sure the hostesses did their job well!"

"Way overpriced! And why do restaurants feel they need to "offer" valet parking to park your car a few steps from the front door and then charge $5.00? I don't like valet parking, have had too many bad incidents myself and have heard too many horror stories from friends. Why not let patrons park themselves in those choice places near the front door and those who need or really want valet parking can have their cars parked further away by someone else."

"My first visit to RDG+. I had high expectations set by previous experiences at CAfe Annie. The space is is outstandinhg, a large active bar, outdoor seating, view of kitchen, and a large dining area with a variety of spaces. Food was a disappointment. My hearts of romaine was tiny - an smothered with a very thick and heavy creamy dressing. The truffled cheese was layed over the leaves looking like it came right of the meat slicer. The sea scallops in chowder arrived cool - must have sat up on the warmer for too long. Taste was fine but cool and cooling food was not. My wife was also dissapointed in both her selections. Service was good and unobstrusive - which is to be expected.
I will try it again hoping for improvement."

"After being a fan of Cafe Annie for many years, I was a expecting a great meal at RDG. However, this new venture of Chef Robert Del Grande really disappointed me. It was one of the worst meals I have had at an upscale restaurant in many years. Honestly, we could have eaten something better at a low-cost cafeteria. I will never recommend or come back to this place again. If you only care about seeing and being seen, then this a great place. If you only care about food, then this is not the place for you."

"Went on New Years Eve-very nice upbeat atmosphere. Service was pretty good. The appetizer menu was confusing-we thought we were ordering one appetizer for 28.00, but ended up with two at 28.00 (Both were very good, but REALLY small for 28.00). We both ordered Steak...it was cooked well with a good flavor. I feel that for the cost the entree lacked in imagination ( it said it came with "Mushroom pie" on the side..it was actually about a tablespoon of mushrooms in a small tart shell)?? Overall we liked it...but felt for the amount of money it could have been more special and creative with the entrees. Not in a big hurry to go back."

"Our dinner at the RDG Grill was truly one of the finest dining experiences we have ever had in this city. Everything was excellent, from the very modern yet comfortable decor to the food quality and presentation. Service was also outstanding--timely and available but not hovering. Superb wine list, with many excellent wines at reasonable prices, and with a remarkable feature--a short list of recommended wines with Wine Spectator-like in-depth reviews and descriptions. Cafe Annie rises from the ashes to assume her rightful place among Houston's dining elite!"

"The food was wonderful and exactly what we expected from Robert Del Grande. The acoustics were the worst we've experienced in a Houston restaurant. This is not a good choice if one wants to engage in even minimal conversation."

"Great location and atmosphere. Food was not spectacular if you're a foodie and nothing too innovative. However, it was well prepared and presentation was solid. The HUGE negative was the poor service and attitude of the waiter. He seemed like he was doing us a favor in having to repeat the special of the night, provided zero help with wine selection, and had an attitude when we returned a salad because the kitchen failed to put the blue cheese on the side. The assistants/busers were very polite, but the waiter ruined the experience."

"Very busy...although we had an open table reservation, seating initially was made in the bar (granite tables) instead of in the restaurant. The dishes we sampled were flavorful although watch for added chili peppers, Some dishes seemed "spiced up" with jalepeno or serrano peppers to give the "southwest" flavor. Service was excellent."
