"The food was great. The reception service was excellent. The wait staff left something to be desired. He only checked on us once and not even when the food came out. Once he did come by he didn't offer any refills on drinks or if neede anything else.

"I usually avoid meals out on Mother's Day as I find the service and food subpar...but our brunch at the Fig and the Olive was the opposite of my expectations. We chose it because the menu seemed good for our group and they did not jack up the prices as many did because of the holiday. All four of us loved our meals. The lobster bisque was lovely, my salad and chicken fresh and flavorful, drinks great, dessert delish, service very good. We will definitely return."

"Ambiance modern & attractive, waitstaff variable, food interesting & a bit overdone to my taste. Our first waiter took way too long between visits to our table and this was when we had just been seated and were ordering; second waiter was much more attentive. I found some of the menu items a little too inventive in their mixture of different & sometimes jarring flavors. Flounder entree was excellent, though. Beware of "small plates" -- the tab can end up being much larger than you expected."

"We had lunch at Fig and Olive on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was very pleasant and the food quite good. But the service was completely substandard. It took forever for a waiter to take our order. Then, he did not bring bread to the table until we asked for it (and this is an Italian restaurant --where in Italy do they serve a meal without bread?). They offered a basket of breads with croissants and other sweet breads. We were having a regular meal, and the waiter said that, as exception, he could get us some toasted bread. The service was extremely slow. We had to waive frantically to catch someone's attention to get service. Our water glasses were never refilled. We had to ask the host to get us our check."

"Went in here early before heading out to a Yankee game. Good cocktails listed on the menu and a better martini when asked for. "We had lunch at Fig & Olive - fifth Ave on a Wednesday around 12pm, it hadn't yet gotten too crowded and our table was ready right away. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very attentive. I had the Filet Mignon panini and it was delicious. I forgot to take the detailed check after I left, but they were able to email it right to me the next day. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be going back in the future."

"This was my first time at Fig & Olive although I lived near the one on the UES when I lived at 63rd and Lex! Now playing tourist in Manhattan, a number of my friends recommended this place so I ventured to the one near 5th Avenue. I'm into salads but the waiter insisted we try the crostinis with a variety of toppings - he even picked their top three bestsellers for me and my guest. You pair those crostinis with a nice white wine and it is a lunch made in heaven! The shrimp and scallop salad wasn't bad either! I will definitely make a return visit whenever I'm back in Manhattan - quite a find! I can only hope that one day, a Fig & Olive will open in Washington DC!"
