Prosecco
Prosecco, in the heart of the River North Gallery District, is a chic, yet welcoming restaurant serving comfort foods from all 20 regions of Italy and Chicago's largest selection of sparkling wine.
The decor, inspired by the faded, gilded beauty of Venice, is filled with silk damask drapes, carved wood chandeliers and gold-framed artwork. The coup de grace is the 35' long bar, hand burnished to resemble a piece of antique Venetian furniture. The bar serves Italian finger food and offers a wide selection of European spirits.
Enjoy classic comfort foods -- from house-made pasta to nightly beef, fish and game menu additions. Dine with the Chef at the Carpaccio bar, where a selection of fresh cured and smoked meats and the freshest fish, are sliced nightly.
Prices are moderate, but those wishing to indulge in an evening of culinary mischief will not be disappointed!

"We had a fabulous time. Food was excellent and our server Carol was just a gem. She could actually tell what we were looking for and made great recommendations. Very attentive but not over the top so it was just perfect. The host, Elaine took us around afterwards and showed us the lower level lounge which was very nice. Great experience from start to finish."

"Charming little spot, the prosecco upon sitting down was a sweet touch. We ordered 2 different salads (the tomato and mozzarella and the watercress and pears) both were very good, not great but very good. (Although the mozzarella was great!) I ordered the eggplant and my husband had the spaghetti with seafood. Both entrees were excellent! The eggplant was smokey and very different but great!

"We have had an opportunity to dine at Prosecco on several occasions and each time it has gotten better. The extensive wine list is mostly Italian which is what we look for going to an Italian restaurant. My wife had the lamb chops that were done to perfection. My entrée was the Wild Boar and pasta which was also outstanding. The wait staff was outstanding and had a good handle on how the food was prepared and what we might expect in the dish. We definitely will return."

"We arrived about 20 minutes prior to our reservation but were warmly greeted and escorted to the bar to enjoy a drink until our table was ready which was before we even finished our drink. Our waiter was friendly and extremely knowledgeable in both the menu items and the extensive wine list. His recommendations were spot on. I had a wonderful fresh tagliatelle from the daily special sheet and it was delicious and a large portion. My husband had the Braised Short Ribs with Risotto and it was superb! The risotto was BY FAR the best I have ever had! Impeccably efficient staff! The only slight negative was the closeness of the tables to other diners and the noise level...quite high. But I would not hesitate to recommend Prosecco to everyone!!!"

"The food was great. Appetizers were very good and the entries were very good as well. The wait staff for bread, water, silverware were very attentive and quick to refresh the table. The waitress was knowledgable about the menu and gave a very good wine suggestion. She likely had too many tables to cover, but the hostess had to take our order and we also had long periods without checking up for an refreshed drink order. We also had a long break between our appetizers and our entries arriving at the table. Dessert options were good."

"I cannot believe the positive ratings for this restaurant. The ambiance is totally outdated, with several tables being either close to exit door or on top of the service station "bar" at the back of the restaurant. When you visit a restaurant called "Prosecco" you would expect the "house" Prosecco to be above an average $10 bottle. If quantity is what you want, come here! Otherwise, find an authentic Italian restaurant (like Tocco), save some money and see real Italian personal service and food! Overall very disappointing."

"Service was great (hostess,bar,waitress). Food was delish! I had the shrimp cavatelli,& husband created a pasta/spicy marinara dish. Wine was plentiful & we had 2 glasses each. Loved the complimentary prosecco toast - we were celebrating our 5-year anniv, so was great touch! We debated over tiramisu or cheesecake; at the strong recommendation of our waitress, went w/ the ricotta cheesecake: AMAZING. Only negative: when we done, a server (not our waitress) came to clear our plates. We asked for boxes since we each had about half of our entrees left.he took both plates & stacked them and our other plates on top of them -- guess he didn't hear/understand us. This was a definite bummer since we were both looking fwd to those leftovers"

"I took a date here as it was offered a nice salad selection and good wine list. It was during Passover, so I was looking for a place that was offering wine and salad. "I have never seen a restaurant go from spectacular in November to abhorrent by March. The drop off in quality and service is astounding to me. The waitress said they have the best lamb chops in the city, which is a bold claim. In reality, they are extremely disappointing. I wonder why they fell off so drastically."

"Excellent restaurant! I came here for a post engagement dinner and we were seated at a semi-private table away from the main dining. It was a romantic setup with excellent service. We had calamari and arugula salad to start, both of which were terrific. Entrées were the salmon and petto do pollo. Excellent taste and decent size portion. Tiramisu was the best I've had. We had a reservation for the latest seating time but we were never rushed and food and service were top-notch. Would definitely recommend!"

"We had the Burata appetizer... melt in your mouth deliciousness! Loved the complimentary 1/2 glass of namesake prosecco to toast with at the beginning! I had the spaghetti di frutti di mare as my entree, and it was outstanding! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the seafood was fresh and cooked just right. I even tried baby octopus and liked it. My husband had the mahi mahi, and the arugala salad with avacado on top was just delicious. The fish itself was excellent too... like eating a steak. This was exactly what I imagined authentic Italian would taste like, and I loved it! We finished with tiarmisu and cappucino. Very good!"

"Prosecco is one of the finest all-around restaurants in the city. Owners are always present and have their finger on the pulse of the diners. The food is exquisite, and particularly fresh -- every element. I have been there a number of times, but as a frequent diner around the city would not consider myself a Prosecco regular. That said, each time I've been there I discover a new wonderful dish, am delighted by the staff, and leave having had a great experience.
