"My boyfriend was given a gift card to Catch from his boss and we had heard mixed reviews but thought we would try it! The restaurant itself is beautiful and has great ambiance. I ordered one of the new items on the menu and found it to be quite bland and it was cold as well. It took about 10 minutes to get a hot plate of food while everyone else at the table waited for me. A manager, came by to see how the second plate was, it was much better this time! I was surprised that nothing was offered or taken care of on the bill. Our server did not make recommendations and was very short with us. I think this could have been a very different experience if I had ordered a signature item and if we had a different server."

"We had our 25th anniversary dinner there on Saturday. Everything was excellent. The staff treated us to some free drinks and desserts, and they had the flowers I'd delivered waiting for us at our table. The service and food were both excellent. We certainly got the impression that they wanted us to enjoy our special night. It was a memorable evening and a large part of the reason was due to Catch Restaurant. Thank you all very much!"

"We had an assortment as appetizers, the oysters were full of bread, could not really taste them, the scallop ceviche was on point though. I got the halibut and my husband the crab, the food was good but not memorable. I honestly think that it is quite expensive for what it was and I would not recommend it to people who are on budget but overall it was quite alright."

"We haven't been to Catch since last year and the menu has changed a lot since then. At that time we had delicious tuna and lobster entrees which were no longer on the menu. The spot prawn appetizer and the entree special of pan-seared salmon that we ordered were not at all what we expected. They were very sushi-like and based on the descriptions of these 2 dishes it was a surprise and not a good one. The lobster corn chowder was great as usual. The service was very good but we found the restaurant to be very quiet and there were a few tables that left before even ordering. Until the menu changes we would not come back."

"The Catch is always a favorite of ours. The service and the food have always been great.
Although, something to be aware of. We have always sat downstairs, but do short notice and a busy night we sat upstairs not know that the menu's are different or certain things aren't available upstairs. Check both menu's to ensure you can get what you want.
Still a favorite spot and will return again....."

"Absolutely outstanding experience! The food was delicious, well presented, and extremely fresh. The oysters were some of the best I have ever had - great selection as well!! The service is what put the evening over the top. Glen was phenomenal right from the time we sat down and all the way through dessert. He was charming and charismatic and provided wonderful wine and food suggestions. Perhaps some of the greatest service I have received in Calgary. Thank you Catch for a spectacular evening - a real treat!!!"

"Nice place, good food, had an inexperienced waiter who wasn't knowledgeable on the menu/drinks/wine list the IPad wasn't much help either(really just a gimmick, with no real information on it) My glass was empty for long periods of time which wasnt helped by the food taking a long time to come out. Wouldn't recommend it based on price and service. Chose to not stay for dessert"

Although I cannot figure out why the chef feels the need to add grits to the side. This isn't New Orleans and never should pretend to be. "Had a fantastic lunch at Catch Restaurant. Will have to come back and enjoy the wine list a bit more when I do not have to go back to work. My lunch partner enjoyed the Catch of the day and they were very accommodating with providing more vegetables as opposed to starch. I loved the scallops, I’m not usually a huge curry fan but it decided to go for it after recommended by the server. The curry was quite mild and the taste was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!"

"Althought the food and service was acceptable, it should not take almost 3 hours to serve a table of 4 regardless of how busy the restaurant is (it did not seem busy). I would not return based on this. In your ratings above, there should also be a review of Value. Catch Upstairs is overpriced for what you receive."

"Our dinner was flawless. Oysters were delicious, appetizers (beet salad and Caesar salad) were both devoured and our mains (wild BC lingcod and scallops) were perfectly cooked. It was our anniversary and not only was service impeccable (for us this means attentive but not smothering, wine and water always topped up etc) but on top of our cocktails and bottle of wine we were offered a glass of Prosecco with our oysters and a glass of ice wine with our dessert. Very classy. Catch never disappoints and we will be back for sure."

"This is a great little restaurant in a very reachable location! The seating was perfect in that we weren't sitting on top of our neighbour, and everything which we ordered could fit on the table. Our server was very attentive, leaving us space to chat, yet sensing immediately when we needed assistance. The noise level was perfect. It was like sitting in one's own kitchen with the radio playing softly in the background. We didn't have to yell at each other in order to hear one another. The wine list was out of this world and the prices were fairly reasonable. And finally, the food. We thought we would not be satisfied with the portion size, but it was just enough! Very tasty too! We'll be back!"

"The setting was lovely and the staff are wonderful. The restaurant is willing to accomodate food preferences and needs. However, even though the food is good, I don't find it to be anymore extraordinary than other comparable restaurants in Calgary (i.e. The Belvedere, Muse), but the cost is higher than those other restaurants. This might be because it's a sea food place in Alberta and the cost of bringing in fresh seafood is high. "Everything about our meal from start to finish was truly exceptional! We were celebrating a special occasion and we were most certainly made to feel special ~ a truly memorable dining experience.The culinary aperitif four plate was incredible, and the remarkably fresh oysters from both the East and West Coast were fantastic! My husband had the whole lobster with chile butter as his main, and I the Quallicum Beach Scallops in a house made green curry - both of us thrilled with our choices! Our only disappointment? We didn't leave enough room to try one of their gorgeous new desserts. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience that includes Ocean Wise fare then Catch is the place!"

"For appetizers we had a mix of west and east coast oysters, with a beautiful mignonette (champangne??), house made hot sauce and fresh horseradish. also beef carpaccio beautifully prepared with pickled mushrooms. fresh and succulent.
swordfish and ling cod for the mains, the side dishes completed the perfectly cooked fish. swordfish had a saucy pineapply taste, hit many tastebuds.
favorite restaurant, never disappointed, great staff and fantastic delectable wine list."

"I have been to Catch (upstairs) for lunch several times, but this was the first time for dinner. The best part was the food (oysters, the chef's sample plate, and two lobster dishes). The server was putting some good effort in, but didn't have the wine knowledge or timing quite right. I tried to order a 1/2 litre bottle of duckhorn sav. blanc (which was on the ipad menu) but was then advised that it wasn't in stock. No alternate recommendation was made. The restaurant was fairly quiet, and felt quite sterile. Good spot for a business lunch...less so for a romantic dinner."

"This is our second time at Catch Restaurant Upstairs and the second time we are blown away!
It was my birthday and got pampered beyond belief. My husband and I ordered an appetizer and a main course each, but ended up getting all sorts of goodies from the kitchen: smoked oysters (the best I ever had), a crab cake (juicy and flavor balanced), a piece of marlin (it was extremely tender) and finally after our main course, a sample of little dessert bite served with a glass of moscato. We sat close to the kitchen and we enjoyed looking at the incredible organized, syncronized and fast creations of each plate from the cooks...it was mesmerizing. Our server ( originally from Quebec) was amiable, helpful, and a good sports.Love this place."

"The service was amazing, food was wonderfully prepared and presented. I found portions to be a bit on the small side for the price, overall it was wonderful. The wachrooms are quite the hike up 3 flights of stairs so I would not recomend for anyone with a disability."

"Location, decor and ambience was great. Sampler appetizer platter great for group with nice variety of textures and flavour. Ordered swordfish which to my mind was slightly overlooked. Service in general was friendly and efficient with the exception of checking if we required additional drinks. Left gasping for refreshment from start to finish resulting in flagging waiter down for relief.
All in all had a great evening though probably attributable to friends as much as the food."
