Celebrity Chef Carlo Cavallo invites you to tour the cuisines of Northern Italy & Southern France. His seasonally driven menu's feature wild game, Dry Aged Prime Steaks, Fresh Seafood, Oyster/raw bar, Live Maine lobster's/ Dungeness Crab's and local organic produce some from Chef Carlo's garden. "We have been to Meritage about ten times over the past 5 years and are consistently happy with the seafood and pasta dishes, as well as a very reasonably priced wine lists with enough choices at each price point. Salads are also excellent, especially the goat cheese and beet salad. Water and bread service are attentive. It can get a bit loud but overall this is a solid value in the Sonoma square area and we will continue to return."

"We had the Thursday Lobster prix fixe dinner which is an outstanding value. You have your choice of salad or soup and the soup du jour was asparagus. It was a generous bowl of soup and extremely tasty. The lobster was cooked perfectly and accompanied by delicious mashed potatoes and some veggies. Dessert was included and it was a nice homemade gelato."

"We have been multiple times to Meritage and will continue to return. The calamari fritti were especially light and crisp. Salads are always fresh and nicely presented. Pasta is al dente as it should be. Bread and water service were efficient and friendly. Wine list is reasonably broad for a small restaurant, focused on local wines since it is in Sonoma."

"Excellent experience. We had a 6:45 Saturday reservation and the host offers us a few different tables to choose from.i had the tasting diner featuring wild boar ribs and my wife had the hanger steak. All served hot and courteous. One service error, wrong app, promptly corrected with a smile.

"Disapppointed. I have been to the Meritage several times before, and always enjoyed the food very much. However, every dish my table ordered was very sub par. The service however was very good. The waiter comped us the corkage fee and gave my son a free dessert for his birthday. I will go back again and hope the food goes back to what it used to be."

"The waiter was nice and friendly, however the bus guy kept trying to rush us and take our plates and hovered around the table waiting to remove anything. Overall, the restaurant really needs to improve the quality of the food. I would not recommend this restaurant with it being so close to other very good choices."

"It was a Friday night. The only thing in an otherwise perfect experience was the noise level from customers, and we had to raise our voices pretty high to have a conversation. Dealing with acoustics would reduce the echoes but I don't think the owners feel the need for that because they get a lot of business as is; it's not a detractor for most people. Everything else was awesome - the food, service, ambiance, decor, etc."
