Pure Spirits Oyster House and Grill located in the Historic Distillery District offers both indoor dining as well as patio dining where visitors can take in the beautiful Victorian Industrial Architecture. We are well known as the best fresh seafood restaurant in Toronto. Pure Spirits is proud to serve a selection of oysters from both the East and West coasts of Canada as well as unique offerings from abroad. Casual dining attire and a love of great food is required. "Had a wonderful evening at PURE. Our tradition is to try a new restaurant for our anniversary and we made a great choce this year. Came for oysters and were not disappointed; we also tried the seafood paella - also great. the weather allowed us to sit on the patio, a rustic spot for a leisurley paced evening with great food and wine. Looking forward to retruning again soon!"

"Went to Pure Spirits with friends, it was a great place for a fun social evening. The food was terrific, atmosphere great. It is a quality restaurant, but not stuffy at all. Our server was knowledgable, and efficient, but the service was a bit slow, not her fault, it was the first night of having the patio open, and due to the lovely weather things with the kitchen and bar were backed up. Would most defiantly go back next time we are in Toronto."

"We arrived at the restaurant a little earlier than our actual reservation. No problem in being seated, however, we did not receive a both in one of the better locations, but instead at the very back. The food was very good and our server did a great job. We had the jumbo shrimp and calamari as an appetizer and both were very tasty. As a main I had the lobster pasta which was delicious. I would definitely return to this restaurant again."

"Everything was amazing except the service. We had a reservation but the waiter required us to place our entire order as soon as we arrived. It felt like they were pushing us out the door. When we decided to order more appetizer oysters they brought our meal out and let it sit on the table and get cold while we ate our oysters. Not what I would expect from such an expensive restaurant!!"

"When we arrived (2 women), and we had a reservation, hostess tried to sit us in the poorest location, right up by the reception podium near the entrance,when there were many vacant booths still to be had further back in the restaurant. We asked to be seated elsewhere & she complied, but I must ask why two women are often treated so poorly. Hostess could have at least asked us where we wished to sit before seating us.
We both had the lobster papardelle, a bit of a misnomer as there was scarcely any lobster there...maybe two or three little slivers. Seemed as if the lobster ran through the pot but did not stay behind. It was more of a mushroom truffle pasta - you may wish to rename on menu"

"A pleasant surprise! We were expecting this to be more of a tourist trap that can't cook, but they have very nice oysters on the half shell, along with some great mussels. Often with mussels, there are some that are tiny and lame, but these were all very nice. Also, they have an affordable wine list, which made it nice. For some reason, we ordered mains even though we were full before them. I'd suggest not going during summer just b/c they're a packed house and service would be even slower then. I'd definitely go back. Next time, I'd bring a container to bring home the sauce from the mussels too."

"This is a large establishment, and as a result, the ambiance is a little too busy for my preference of an enjoyable evening(the place was full at 6:30 on Saturday).
The seats at the bar, looked uncomfortable(cold metal with no backs).
The seats in the booths looked a lot more comfortable, and the double seats in the middle seemed a little confining.

"The food was quite good. As an appetizer we had the calamari and oysters. Both were very tasty and just enough. For dinner we had the special, Halibut on Risotto with broccolini and each item was perfectly made. For dessert we had some chocolate yumminess in a jar - again it was fantastic.
The service was fantastic, from the host to the waitress. It was a really great experience."

"My husband and I had dinner here for his birthday. We ordered Fanny Bay oysters which were delish, the provence mussels which were the BEST MUSSELS I've ever had and I've been to a LOT of seafood restaurants. My husband had the Paella and I had the Short Ribs. Both dishes were completely different and totally amazing. The servers were super friendly and the service was great - no complaints at all. Highly recommend. Also the patio looks awesome...there are fire pits and comfy seating areas. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to experience the patio. Definitely next time. The Distillery District is super unique, very cool and I can't wait to return upon patio season."

"I had dined here once before and the food was excellent both times but the service was lacking on this second outing. We were passed between servers and bussers with apologies for being short staffed despite some staff standing around idle. I'd still come back to see if this was just an off day."

"Dined here numerous times as it's across the street. Solid food experience, and service has improved since the Distillery restaurants opened ten years ago. (Then service was abysmal and management didn't seem to care since it was crowded anyway.)
Enjoyed the curried short ribs, though they were a tad fatty. However excellent flavour."

"Had a great time, as usual, at our annual trip to Pure Spirits! Darren? (oyster shucker) and the wait staff did a fantastic job keeping us entertained and satisfied. They had great suggestions for which kind of oysters to try next and even let us taste a special kind we have never had! Special treat and we look forward to getting in more often!"

"I think we ate about 6 dozen oysters, but the waiters were next to impossible to tag down, even as the evening went on and the restaurant emptied a bit. Not rude, but not overly courteous, especially considering the amount of money spent. The oysters were amazing. We also had the tuna appetizer, which was a nice dish, although the tuna was not very fresh. The sausage pasta was tasty, but nothing outstanding. It really is a beautiful restaurant, though. I'm not sure if I would return - there are other amazing oyster bars, with better food and service. (Starfish comes to mind) Being in the distillery is nice though."

"It was my second time to the place. Oysters were very fresh. And others food was very good too. However, we spent too much time to wait for the waitress come to our table. We hold the menu for around 30 minutes without anyone ask and also waited long for drinks. Probably because the busy friday night.
